Talon, Come Fly with Me by Gigi Sedlmayer Pdf

Talon: Come Fly With Me, is about the life of nine-year-old girl, Matica. Matica lives in a remote village on a dry plateau in the Andes of Peru. She moved here with her Australian missionary and schoolteacher parents when she was five years old. Ever since Matica could remember, she faced cruel rejection because of a growth handicap that traps her in a body a two-year-old. Because of her appearance, the local Indians wouldn't accept her into their community or allow her to play with their children. Under the watchful eyes of her parents, lonely Matica explores the plateau of the Andes. She found a pair of condors soaring near the mountains and with patience and a sense of adventure she befriended them. She named the condors Tamo and Tima and a strong bond and love developed between them. The adventure of this book begins two years later, as Matica helplessly witnessed poachers stealing the condors' egg from their nest. After a dramatic fight between Tamo and the poachers, the poachers abandoned the egg leaving it far from its nest. Being unable to bring it back to the nest, Tamo and Tima sent signals to Matica to take care of their egg. Later on, during Matica's tenth birthday, the condor egg hatches. The hatchling is called Talon and this story focuses on the self journey of Matica, as she teaches the little hatchling to fly. This experience changes her life completely and enables her to see a positive side to her handicap.

Come Fly with Us by Melvin Croft,John Youskauskas Pdf

2020 Space Hipsters Prize for Best Book in Astronomy, Space Exploration, or Space History Come Fly with Us is the story of an elite group of space travelers who flew as members of many space shuttle crews from pre-Challenger days to Columbia in 2003. Not part of the regular NASA astronaut corps, these professionals known as "payload specialists" came from a wide variety of backgrounds and were chosen for an equally wide variety of scientific, political, and national security reasons. Melvin Croft and John Youskauskas focus on this special fraternity of spacefarers and their individual reflections on living and working in space. Relatively unknown to the public and often flying only single missions, these payload specialists give the reader an unusual perspective on the experience of human spaceflight. The authors also bring to light NASA's struggle to integrate the wide-ranging personalities and professions of these men and women into the professional astronaut ranks. While Come Fly with Us relates the experiences of the payload specialists up to and including the Challenger tragedy, the authors also detail the later high-profile flights of a select few, including Barbara Morgan, John Glenn (who returned to space at the age of seventy-seven), and Ilan Ramon of Israel aboard Columbia on its final, fatal flight, STS-107.

There’s a killer on the road…The FBI is squirming like a toad. Dakota Jalen, a brash, young, FBI agent with a crushing cross to bear is remaining calm however. Though not one other agent within the entire bureau has broken “CHARLIE USA’s” code, Dakota knows she can do it. From the oppressive heat of the Deep South up into the cool currents of the Northeast, Dakota tails CHARLIE USA state by state until she comes face to face with an un-escapable paradox of endemic proportions. It seems that some people in Dakota’s life, and worse, perhaps even herself, have more in common with the monster CHARLIE USA than they’d like to admit.

AMARIS: The Moon Child by Arlene Belmont Pdf

Amaris, the Moon Child is a sequel to the author's first book, Happenstance. This Christmas tale begins with the solitary life of Amaris, the twin brother of St. Nick-aka, Santa Claus. Amaris lives with his mean stepmother, the witch, on top of Mount Hermon by the Sea of Galilee. When Amaris was twelve years old, he grew feathers. This rather odd condition allows him to fly! Since he needs to molt to grow new feathers, he must live in a very cold climate. Mount Hermon's chilly mountain air is the perfect environment and allows Amaris a place to fly in isolation from the rest of the world. Amaris fears humans as the witch convinced him all human contact is dangerous, and if he were caught, he would be eaten! After the witch's death, Amaris discovers a handwritten note scribbled by the witch explaining how, through trickery, she stole him at birth from his natural parents and that he actually has a twin brother! Alone, abandoned, and isolated, Amaris decides to take a chance and seek his brother, hoping a reunion will bring a sense of belonging. This story takes the reader on a wild journey through the perilous desert, where Amaris encounters desert creatures and a little girl named Ruth. Ruth teaches Amaris not all humans are harmful and even gives him a clue on his twin brother's whereabouts. The story is about redemption. The reader will learn through Amari's trials that although our past does affect us, it does not have to define us. We can rise above our current circumstances and find fulfillment and a place of belonging. Amaris teaches us a brighter tomorrow awaits us if we will let go of our inner fears. We just have to believe.

Deadly Secrets by Avril Sabine Pdf

Some secrets are too dangerous to keep. Others are too dangerous to tell. ***This is a bundled edition of the following stories.*** Earth Bound Elf Sight Assassins Of The Dead 1: Dark Blade Earth Bound Nineteen-year-old Brianne has always dreamed of leading a squad. The one thing she has no control over is holding her back. Like the Caelians' mortal enemies, the Terstens, she's earth bound. Sacred Law demands her death by her twentieth birthday. Twenty-one year old Talon is the son of the Terstens' General. Three years ago he quit the army. He can't tell anyone why he abandoned his life long dream. His secret could end the lives of him and his family. Both societies revolve around their armies, believing the other race caused the centuries long war. When circumstances bring Brianne and Talon together, they start to learn the real truth may lie beyond the Feronian Mountains, which haven't been crossed in centuries. Elf Sight Seeing what's hidden can endanger lives. Seventeen-year-old Shadow thinks their country is in bad shape if her Pa is considered one of their greatest heroes. To her he's the bitter man she has to escape before he learns the secret she's kept her entire life. Getting away, with the help of her brother Irlan, is meant to simplify things. Instead, they become involved in plots against the royal family, hidden identities and magic-wielding enemies. Assassins Of The Dead 1: Dark Blade Some heroes work in the shadows, only their deeds remembered. Meikah's family are templars, as far from necromancers as it's possible to be. When she learns that not only can she see the dead, but also wield magic, she fears what the future holds. She doesn't want to become a necromancer, or a dark blade, but there seems to be few choices now available to her. It doesn't help that people have begun to treat her like she's an evil necromancer and rumours have started. Nor does she believe Kellan when he says she belongs with the Assassins Of The Dead. They seem to be a mismatched group that include nobles, an assassin, a sorcerer, a shapeshifter and a vampire. Not at all like templars. And if she was to join them, the rumours will never end and her family might actually disown her. These stories were written by an Australian author using Australian spelling. Keywords: teen/young adult, strong female character, winged people, vampires, shapeshifters, adventure, romance.

Combat Talons in Vietnam by John Gargus Pdf

Combat Talons in Vietnam is a personal account of the first use of C-130s in the Vietnam War. It provides an insider’s view of crew training and classified missions for this technologically advanced aircraft. Many covert missions over North Vietnam were successful, but one night, John Gargus, a mission planner, oversaw an operation in which the aircraft—carrying eleven crewmembers—failed to return from a nighttime mission. For thirty years, a search for the missing aircraft remained in progress. In the late 1990s, the Combat Talon veteran community at Hurlburt Field in Florida, still uncertain of the full story, decided to dedicate a memorial to the lost crew. When wartime mission records were declassified, Gargus embarked on a long journey of inquiry, research, and puzzle-solving to reconstruct the events of that mission and the fate of its crew. He discovered that the wreckage of the plane had been found in 1992 and that the remains of the crew were being held in Hawaii. Through numerous Freedom of Information Act requests, interviews, and site visits, Gargus sought to answer the question of why it took so long to find the wreckage and, more importantly, why the special operations command units were left uninformed. By 2000, the remains were relocated to a common grave at Arlington National Cemetery at last providing a measure of closure to family, friends, and comrades.
