Bugatti by Amanda Dunsmore,John Payne,National Gallery of Victoria Pdf

In late 2006 the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) purchased its first work by a member of the Bugatti family, Carlo Bugatti's Throne chair, circa 1900. From this initial acquisition the idea of an exhibition grew, until the gallery announced it would stage Australia's first exhibition of the work of the Bugatti family in early 2009. The exhibition will showcase the work of three generations of craftsmen, artists and designers: furniture by Carlo Bugatti, animal sculptures by his son Rembrandt, and the legendary cars designed by Carlo's eldest son Ettore and Ettore's son Jean. The Bugatti family represents a fascinating and unique story in the history of art, design and automobiles during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Compiled by Amanda Dunsmore and John Payne, at the NGV, BUGATTI: CARLO REMBRANDT ETTORE JEAN is a comprehensive collection of the works by this remarkable Italian family that will be on display during the gallery's 2009 exhibition.

The Bugatti Queen by Miranda Seymour Pdf

Born in 1900 to a soon-to-be-widowed postmaster's wife in a small French village, Hélène Delangle's background offered no suggestion of the extraordinary life she was to lead. The first step was to leave the country behind and head to the city -- in this case, a Paris in the grip of an intoxicating 1920s blend of creativity and debauchery. She became a dancer, and then a stripper. But the demi-monde of gauze veils and admirers was not enough. A visit to the Actors' Championships, a uniquely French meeting of the theatrical world with the race-track, opened her eyes to the glamorous combination of machines and speed. Quickly establishing herself as a racer of uncommon talent and audacity, the beautiful woman now known as Hellé Nice -- Hellish Nice to her British fans -- then caught the attention of none other than Ettore Bugatti, founder of the marque with which her name will always be associated. And yet, despite the fame and the fortune she amassed in an unprecedented career, she died penniless and alone, an old woman in a crumbling Nice flat surrounded only by memories. THE BUGATTI QUEEN is the story of a great pioneer of motor racing who happened to be a woman. Re-creating her rollercoaster career with great verve and panache, Miranda Seymour brilliantly shows us a life now forgotten -- and makes it unforgettable.

Rembrandt Bugatti by Rembrandt Bugatti Pdf

Rembrandt Bugatti (18841916) was one of the most remarkable and artistically independent sculptors of the first decade of the 20th century. In his short life, before committing suicide at the age of 31, he produced more than 300 works, an oeuvre which is unparalleled for descriptive intensity and diversity of form and subject. Although he is represented in many large museums around the world, in particular in France, Great Britain and the USA, Rembrandt Bugatti is less well known to the German public. This exhibition at the Alte Nationalgalerie will be the first solo show of his work in Germany, offering the opportunity for a spectacular rediscovery of this artist who died young and has remained unnoticed in most surveys published on the art of around 1900. Bugatti Type 50 by Julius Kruta,Mark Morris Pdf

Launched in 1930, the Bugatti Type 50 heralded a new era with the introduction of the Molsheim marque’s first twin-cam design, a supercharged 4.9-litre straight-eight engine of prodigious power. At a time when brute force was needed to win the Le Mans 24 Hours, a competition version was developed and three such Type 50s took part in 1931. The car around which this book is focused, 50177, was leading the famous endurance race when the team withdrew it owing to tyre failures that had afflicted the sister cars, causing one to crash heavily at high speed. The fascinating story of 50177, and the Type 50 in general, is told in this brilliantly researched and superbly illustrated book in the Great Cars series. Introductory chapters explain the economically perilous world of 1931, the genius of Ettore and Jean Bugatti, the bloodline of large-capacity Bugatti engines, and the Type 46 from which the Type 50 was derived. There follows an in-depth exploration of the Type 50’s design and development, including the Miller inspiration behind its twin-cam engine. The four Le Mans races in which Type 50s took part form the core of the book and tell a story of promise unfulfilled. The subject car, 50177, raced three times, in 1931 as a works entry with race no. 5 (driven by Albert Divo and Guy Bouriat) and in 1934 and 1935 with works assistance as no. 2 (driven by Pierre Veyron and Roger Labric). A section about the drivers presents illustrated biographies of the four men who raced 50177 as well as the four others in the 1931 works team — Louis Chiron and Achille Varzi in no. 4 and Maurice Rost and Count Caberto Conelli in no. 6. Post-war, three-time Le Mans winner Luigi Chinetti bought 50177 in 1949 and took it to America, where it spent nearly 50 years with five different owners. The last of them was Miles Coverdale, a passionate Bugatti collector who kept the car for 23 years and uncovered much of its history through correspondence with former works mechanics, notably Robert Aumaître. Co-authors Mark Morris and Julius Kruta, wellknown in the Bugatti world for their immense knowledge and enthusiasm, present a wealth of fresh information and illustration in this fine book.

The Art Firm by Pierre Guillet de Monthoux Pdf

The Art Firm explores the seemingly unorthodox alliance of the arts, management, and marketing. Art firms—as avant-garde enterprises and arts corporations—have existed for at least two hundred years, using texts, images, and other types of art to create corporate wealth. This book investigates how to apply the methods artists use in creating value to the methods more traditional managers use in running their businesses. Guillet de Monthoux offers a crash course in aesthetics from Kant to Gadamer, showing how aesthetic management and metaphysical marketing can create value. Using case studies of successful art managers from Richard Wagner to Robert Wilson, the author illustrates the creative role—so central to value-making in contemporary economies—performed by aesthetic play in art firms. Along the way, Guillet de Monthoux points out how responsible aesthetic management and marketing can eradicate the problems of banality and totality, the two capital sins of an art-based economy.
