Proven Resources for Stewardship Promotion by Anonim Pdf

It's no secret that because stewardship is often viewed as little more than a euphemism for discussing money and budget matters, it's an uncomfortable topic for many in the ministry. But Allan Weenink makes no apology for his zealous approach to stewardship -- he believes that the spiritual dimension is just as important as the financial, and that cultivating the grace of generosity is vital for Christian ministry. Drawn from countless workshops and seminars conducted during Weenink's years as a stewardship consultant, this book provides a wealth of proven "hands-on" material that will help you develop an effective stewardship model. It's a practical ministry resource that will yield bountiful dividends! As a pastor, consultant, and member of national church committees, Al Weenink has learned what the church needs to know about stewardship. From biblical understandings to practical suggestions, what Weenink shares is well worth reading. Enjoy the gift and the challenge from one who loves Jesus Christ and cares deeply about the future church! David Wasserman General Presbyter Grace Presbytery, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Proven Resources For Stewardship Promotion is a rich collection of information from Al Weenink's many years of experience in helping the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) remain fiscally faithful to its call for mission and ministry in a troubled world. Weenink challenges us to a holistic approach as we struggle to make every congregation a living model of sacrificial stewardship. His command of theological understanding, deep faith, and practical application is priceless. This volume belongs in every church in the hands and hearts of pastors, officers, and lay leaders who will use it as a precious guide. Patricia F. Karns Former Associate for Stewardship Synod of the Covenant, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Allan J. In Pursuit of the Almighty's Dollar by James Hudnut-Beumler Pdf

Every day of the week in contemporary America (and especially on Sundays) people raise money for their religious enterprises--for clergy, educators, buildings, charity, youth-oriented work, and more. In a fascinating look into the economics of American Protestantism, James Hudnut-Beumler examines how churches have raised and spent money from colonial times to the present and considers what these practices say about both religion and American culture. After the constitutional separation of church and state was put in force, Hudnut-Beumler explains, clergy salaries had to be collected exclusively from the congregation without recourse to public funds. In adapting to this change, Protestants forged a new model that came to be followed in one way or another by virtually all religious organizations in the country. Clergy repeatedly invoked God, ecclesiastical tradition, and scriptural evidence to promote giving to the churches they served. Hudnut-Beumler contends that paying for earthly good works done in the name of God has proved highly compatible with American ideas of enterprise, materialism, and individualism. The financial choices Protestants have made throughout history--how money was given, expended, or even withheld--have reflected changing conceptions of what the religious enterprise is all about. Hudnut-Beumler tells that story for the first time.

Principles of Presbyterian Polity by Carlos E. Wilton Pdf

Pastors, church leaders, and students of Presbyterian polity will find this a useful guide to Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) governance based on foundational principles. Recent changes in the PC(USA) Constitution have meant fewer rules and more flexibility in governance, making it imperative that leaders understand the historical principles that guide the church. Wilton explains the Book of Order's historic principles of church order in accessible language, providing readers with a lively appreciation of the revolutionary principles that guided the Presbyterian experiment in the New World and are still the beating heart of church life today. Principles of Presbyterian Polity is written from the conviction that it is not enough merely to know the “what†of polity; a deep, intuitive understanding of the “why†is just as vital. Church leaders will come away with a greater understanding of the Book of Order and have confidence using it in practical situations.

Reflections on Stewardship by Eloise Annis Pdf

What Does Stewardship Mean to You? Is it that one month of the year where the Stewardship committee encourages the members of a church to give of their time, talents, and treasures? Yes, but it also means so much more than that. As Stewardship committee chair in 2002, I was given the responsibility to write a short paragraph on stewardship every month for the Gilbert Presbyterian Church newsletter, The Crossroads. I was to keep stewardship in the hearts and minds of our congregation not only during the fall Stewardship Campaign, but throughout the year. At the time the thought of such a project overwhelmed me. This book is a compilation of all the articles I have written from June 2002 through October 2017. Each story is a memory - my memories as a child, my parents and where I was raised, my husband and me, our children and grandchildren and the vacation trips I have taken. These memories are the basis for my reflections, thoughts, and ideas on service to God, church, family, and community. Every month I wrote an article on stewardship because our love and service to God must be throughout the entire year, not just one month or one season in particular. Sit back, read, and contemplate what you can do for God. Then in the spirit of love and thanksgiving in your heart, share your time, talents, and treasures with others. Eloise Annis
