A few years ago, I survived a horrific mauling by a Kodiak brown bear. This is the story of that event along with additional tales and personal observations about these coastal giants. We have lived and competed with the bear since man first moved onto the Eurasian mainland hundreds of thousands of years ago. How is that working out for both sides? How smart are bears? How dangerous are they, really? Most importantly, how do we minimize conflict with this large predator for the safety of both species? I try to touch on all this in the book and I hope the reader enjoys the journey as much as I have enjoyed sharing it.
