The Decline and Ultimate Production of Oil Wells, with Notes on the Valuation of Oil Properties (Classic Reprint) by Carl H. Beal Pdf

Excerpt from The Decline and Ultimate Production of Oil Wells, With Notes on the Valuation of Oil Properties In this bulletin Mr. Beal furnishes several new methods for estimating the future output of oil lands and gives curves and other data that should assist oil producers and engineers in determining the probable amount of oil that oil properties in the different fields of the United States will yield. The material is, therefore, presented in two parts. The first part explains in considerable detail the meth ods that should be used in estimating the future production of oil and the manner of applying those methods to the valuation of oil lands; whereas the second gives in detail such information as was available on the ultimate oil recovered in different fields and the usual rate at which the average oil well in each field will produce. Possible Causes of the Decline of Oil Wells, and Suggested Methods of Prolonging Yield (Classic Reprint) by L. G. Huntley Pdf

Excerpt from Possible Causes of the Decline of Oil Wells, and Suggested Methods of Prolonging Yield The reasons for the decline of oil wells may be grouped in two classes - those due to natural causes and those due to poor manage ment. Since the early days of the petroleum industry improvements. In methods of production have to a large extent been confined to lessening the cost of drilling wells and to reducing the cost of surface operations. Although well-known physical laws offer a possible solution for all underground problems, yet the amount of carefully gathered data is so scarce that general deductions must be cautiously made. Hence this paper discusses both phases of the cause of de cline, describes some of the remedial measures now employed, and gives suggestions as to possible means of bettering present methods of operating. The Business of Oil Production (Classic Reprint) by Roswell Hill Johnson Pdf

Excerpt from The Business of Oil Production Several volumes on various phases of the petroleum industry have recently appeared. These have treated at length of the geology and technology of oil and gas. 'only one, however, The Economics of Petroleum, by J. E. Pogue, has undertaken a consideration of the important economic element. In this admirable work the author is more concerned with oil as a commodity than with the management of its production. Introduction to Peak Oil by R.W. Bentley Pdf

This book examines the physical and economic characteristics of the global oil resource to explain why peak oil has been so poorly understood. The author draws on information held in oil industry datasets that are not widely available outside of the specialist literature, and describes a number of methods that have been successfully used to predict oil peaks. In contrast to the widely-held view that ‘all oil forecasts are wrong’, these methods correctly predicted the current peak in global conventional oil production. Current oil forecasts are then compared to evaluate the expected dates for regional and global oil peaks for conventional oil, all-oils, and all-liquids. The dates of global peaks in the production of all-oil and all-liquids appear to be reasonably soon, while the oil price that is needed to support these global production levels continues to rise. The world faces serious constraints in its oil supply, which accounts for about one-third of total world energy use, and over 90% of the fuel used for transportation. Readers of this book will gain a thorough understanding of the critical, but poorly understood, phenomenon of peak oil that has already had significant impacts on society in terms of high oil prices, and which will place increasing constraints on mankind’s supply of energy and economic well-being in the coming years.

Crude Oil by Jim Wells Pdf

The U.S. economy depends heavily on oil, particularly in the transportation sector. World oil production has been running at near capacity to meet demand, pushing prices upward. Concerns about meeting increasing demand with finite resources have renewed interest in an old question: How long can the oil supply expand before reaching a maximum level of production -- a peak -- from which it can only decline? The author: (1) examined when oil production could peak; (2) assessed the potential for transportation technologies to mitigate the consequences of a peak in oil production; & (3) examined fed. agency efforts that could reduce uncertainty about the timing of a peak or mitigate the consequences. Includes recommendations. Charts & tables.

Principles of Oil and Gas Production (Classic Reprint) by Roswell Hill Johnson Pdf

Excerpt from Principles of Oil and Gas Production To some the drilling of wells may seem the very heart of oil and gas production, but it is in fact merely an operation used also by the miner and the prospector for water, and is not worthy of the disproportionate attention it has received, as compared with that given to the very vital need of developing better methods of locating and extracting.
