The Disruptive Potential of Electric Mobility for the Global Bus Industry by Luca Dominikat Pdf

Seminar paper from the year 2019 in the subject Business economics - Operations Research, grade: 1.3, Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, language: English, abstract: This term paper examines the different disruptive processes for the global bus industry induced by the electrification of the public bus networks, with respect to the changing status quo of technologies as well as the transforming market compositions. To derive and present these processes, the terms "innovation" and "disruption" were indispensable to define, hence there is no commonly excepted understanding and otherwise there would be no overall principles to evaluate whether electric mobility can be classified as a genuinely disruptive Innovation. Propelled globally by national governments, enforcing their limits of carbon oxide emissions and total number of vehicles, electric buses powered by installed lithium-ion batteries or fuel cells are already operating on some metropolitan streets of mostly Asian, South American and European Countries. Regarding the drawbacks of shorter ranges and longer recharge times, the technical features and operating characteristics of battery-electric buses differ from conventional diesel buses. These differences and their consequences for the global bus industry, gaining additional relevance due to the generally increasing demand of green technologies, should help to get a better understanding of the current shift within the automotive sector while also laying the foundation for potential future trajectories.

Shifting Mobility by Dewan Masud Karim Pdf

In the face of resource depletion, environmental changes, lifestyle changes, demographic and digital adaptation, old ideologies of city building and expensive and complex automobility solutions are in freefall. These changes are creating severe friction between the old and new paradigms. This book provides new perspectives through the process of ideological disassociation and concepts of human mobility code. The basic premise of the book, human mobility is an essential component of our creativity that comes from our unconscious desire to become a part of a community. Several new concepts in the book starts with the hallmark of new discovery of human mobility code and its implications of urban mobility boundary systems to stay within safe planetary zone. A new discovery of human mobility code from comprehensive research finding prove that each individual develops a unique mobility footprint and become our mobility identity. Beyond individual hallmarks, human develops collective mobility codes through interaction with the third space on which entire mobility systems lie and are created by the fundamentals of city planning and the design process. Readers are introduced to an innovative mobility planning process and reinvention of multimodal mobility approaches based on new mobility code while formulating new concepts, practical solutions and implementation techniques, tools, policies, and processes to reinforce low-carbon mobility options while addressing social equity, environmental, and health benefits. Finally, the book arms us with knowledge to prevent the disaster of full technological enlightenment against our natural human mobility code.

Vehicle-to-Grid by Lance Noel,Gerardo Zarazua de Rubens,Johannes Kester,Benjamin K. Sovacool Pdf

This book defines and charts the barriers and future of vehicle-to-grid technology: a technology that could dramatically reduce emissions, create revenue, and accelerate the adoption of battery electric cars. This technology connects the electric power grid and the transportation system in ways that will enable electric vehicles to store renewable energy and offer valuable services to the electricity grid and its markets. To understand the complex features of this emergent technology, the authors explore the current status and prospect of vehicle-to-grid, and detail the sociotechnical barriers that may impede its fruitful deployment. The book concludes with a policy roadmap to advise decision-makers on how to optimally implement vehicle-to-grid and capture its benefits to society while attempting to avoid the impediments discussed earlier in the book.

Disruptive Technology and Digital Transformation for Business and Government by Sandhu, Kamaljeet Pdf

With the far-reaching global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the demand and the necessity for digital enterprise transformation have accelerated exponentially. Management and strategies for the adoption and wider usage of newer digital technologies for the transformation of an enterprise through digital tools such as real-time video communications have shown that people no longer need to be required to be physically present in the same place; rather, they can be geographically dispersed. Technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital banking, and cloud data have taken over tasks that were initially done by human hands and have increased both the automation and efficiency of tasks and the accessibility of information and services. Inclusion of all these newer technologies has shown the fast pace at which the digital enterprise transformation is rapidly evolving and how new ecosystems are reshaping the digital enterprise model. Disruptive Technology and Digital Transformation for Business and Government presents interesting research on digital enterprise transformation at different stages and across different settings within government and industry, along with key issues and deeper insights on the core problems and developing solutions and recommendations for digital enterprise transformation. The chapters examine the three core leaders of transformation: the people such as managers, employees, and customers; the digital technology such as artificial intelligence and robotics; and the digital enterprise, including the products and services being transformed. They unravel the underlying process for management and strategies to fully incorporate new digital tools and technologies across all aspects of an enterprise undergoing transformation. This book is ideally intended for managers, executives, IT consultants, business professionals, government officials, researchers, students, practitioners, stakeholders, academicians, and anyone else looking to learn about new developments in digital enterprise transformation of business systems from a global perspective.
