Dogue De Bordeaux by Joseph Janish Pdf

With a name that rightly conjures images of lush vineyards, the Dogue de Bordeaux indeed comes from the world's wine capital in southwestern France. Like the rich red Bordeaux wine, the Dogue de Bordeaux is draped in a deep red coat and boasts the most magnificent head in dogdom. As author Joe Janish reveals in this full-color introduction to the breed, the Dogue de Bordeaux has a heart as impressive as his head and makes a sincere and fun-loving companion for the right owner and family. Naturally a 130-pound mastiff dog is not a dog for everyone, and the Dogue is a guardian breed of relentless power and great agility. This Comprehensive Owner's Guide dedicated to Dogue de Bordeaux begins with a chapter on the breed's history, tracing its origins and spread to the United States, England, and various European countries. The chapter on characteristics provides an overview of the breed's temperament, physical characteristics, activity level, and health concerns, all the information a potential owner needs to determine whether this remarkable French mastiff breed is the Dogue from him or her.New owners will welcome the well-prepared chapter on finding a reputable breeder and selecting a healthy, sound puppy. Chapters on puppy-proofing the home and yard, purchasing the right supplies for the puppy as well as house-training, feeding, exercise, and grooming are illustrated with photographs of handsome adults and puppies. In all, there are over 135 full-color photographs in this useful and reliable volume. The author's advice on obedience training will help the reader better mold and train into the most well-mannered dog in the neighborhood. The extensive and lavishly illustrated chapter on healthcare provides up-to-date detailed information on selecting a qualified veterinarian, vaccinations, preventing and dealing with parasites, infectious diseases, and more. Sidebars throughout the text offer helpful hints, covering topics as diverse as historical dogs, breeders, or kennels, toxic plants, first aid, crate training, carsickness, fussy eaters, and parasite control. Fully indexed.

The Dogue de Bordeaux: A Complete and Comprehensive Owners Guide To: Buying, Owning, Health, Grooming, Training, Obedience, Understanding and by Michael Stonewood Pdf

The Dogue de Bordeaux is a breed of dog that is a part of the Mastiff breed one of the most ancient breeds of dog that originates from France. The Dogue de Bordeaux is commonly also known as the 'Bordeaux Mastiff' and the 'French Mastiff.' The breed was originally bred and developed in the south of France around the city of Bordeaux and the city lent its name to the breed. The French placed an emphasis on keeping their ancient breeds 'pure' and a Dogue de Bordeaux with a 'black mask' on its muzzle is considered to have been bred with the English Mastiff. A 'pure' Dogue de Bordeaux will have a light pink nose, light colored eyes and a red mask. The Dogue de Bordeaux was originally split into two separate typings: the Douge and the Dougin. The Douge was the larger of the two typings and is what the modern Dogue de Bordeaux is based upon. The smaller Dougin typing is no longer in existence. The breed has a well-balanced, muscular and large powerful build. However despite the breed's large build, the Dogue de Bordeaux is set somewhat low to the ground and is not as tall as many of the other breed's within the Mastiff family. The breed has a short, fine and soft coat that comes in a variety of colorations. However, the breed's coat will commonly come in either a light fawn or a darker mahogany coloration. As a whole the Dogue de Bordeaux is known to be a highly loyal and affectionate breed. They make great household pets as they thrive in a busy household environment. Before purchasing any pet it is important to understand that as a pet owner you are responsible for the care and wellbeing of your pet. It is important to try and learn as much as you can about the animal you are considering to keep as a pet to make sure that your lifestyle, household and financial status are suited to provide your pet with the best possible care. Medical, Genetic & Behavioral Risk Factors of the Dogue de Bordeaux by Ross D. Clark, DVM Pdf

This book (Dogue de Bordeaux) provides you with a through description and positive attributes of this breed including origin, purpose, history, normal heights and weights, acceptable colors and behavioral traits. Our books differ from most books on dog breeds because this book also provides you with a comprehensive and authoritative source of all the known predisposed hereditary health syndromes for the breed. You will find extensive references for each problem described. We also provide the breed club address for this breed and a list of laboratories and organizations that can provide professional help and information. As a small animal veterinarian, I have always been intrigued by the way dogs have been bred to fill a purpose in life and further impressed that they also tend to love performing that service. Greyhounds and other sight hounds are built for speed with aerodynamic bodies consisting of small head, deep chest, narrow waist and large leg muscles. On the other hand Dachshunds take their name from German words meaning “badger dog” and they use their long nose, long body and short legs to both track, enter and dig into badger dens. After developing a practice that catered to clients with show dogs, my interest in each breed continued to grow as I studied and observed more and more about the unique predisposition and incidence of health problems in each breed. Breeders of purebred dogs for show were a challenge and inspirational for me to research and help them with their unique health problems. Historically references to hereditary problems are scattered throughout various Veterinary medical texts and journals such as ophthalmology, neurology, gastroenterology, cardiovascular and dermatology. This book, as well as the other books and articles I have written, is researched and compiled with the intention to provide both veterinarians and dog owners with comprehensive and authoritative predisposition information under the breed name. At the date of this publication, The American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation and the The Kennel Club of England reports over 400 known hereditary health syndromes throughout the dog kingdom. At the writing of my first book in 1983, less than 50 hereditary issues are able to be predicted and or diagnosed. Sequencing of the canine genome, DNA tests, metabolic testing including blood tests and urine testing; plus, phenotypic examinations such as radiographs, ultrasound, and CERF or OFA eye registry exams by a Board Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist have advanced the science of breed related health and behavioral problems. This book will provide veterinarians, researchers, pet owners and breeders with a comprehensive guide to all the known problems veterinarians and dog owners should consider during pet selection and throughout each life stage of our canine friends.
