The Electric Vehicle Revolution by Robert Christopher Sharek Pdf
This book will educate, inform, and ultimately convince the fence-sitters that electric vehicles (EVs) are the best personal transportation choice today. They are cost effective, exciting to drive, and a step in the “right†direction for social, environmental, and domestic economical reasons. The target audience of this work is the undecided portion of the population that is curious about electric cars, but doesn't know all of the intricacies to confidently purchase one. This book provides accurate, decision-making information for someone getting ready to purchase their next vehicle. Once the economics of the situation are analyzed and considered, the choice is even clearer: EVs make sense and make “cents†. Another reason I am writing this book is because I am an engineer – a board-certified environmental engineer (BCEE). This has been a passion of mine since my college days when I stood around a vat of RIT dye making tie die shirts for an upcoming Environmental Club Fundraising event. Then and there I decided to quit the club and focus on the solution rather than just complaining about the world's problems. The data presented in this book is real. The information is gathered from U.S. government research departments, independent agency websites, and various automobile manufacturer websites. Most importantly, we will discuss the actual data from my Chevy Volt including costs for gasoline and electricity over the past 20,000 miles. My hope is that this book will serve as an Electric Vehicle manual or decision-making guide to provide the reader with three main elements: real information to make a sound car-buying decision, actual costs that can be easily calculated and followed by the reader and finally, instill the consumer confidence in this revolutionary technology reshaping our world.
The author explains why he believes the electric vehicle is going to rise to the top of the personal automobile market, discusses the benefits of electric cars, and considers the possible role of the electric vehicle in the transformation of the United States from an oil-based to an electric-powered economy.

The anticipated proliferation of electric cars will influence the daily lives of motorists, the economies of different countries and regions, urban air quality and global climate change. This book discusses cars of the future and the new socio-economic paradigm that they represent. It examines the electromobility revolution in the traditional automotive industry and brings together multidisciplinary expertise to provide insights into the shift towards electromobility. New vehicular technologies may develop in various directions, including the smart car, and this context raises two important questions: will car manufactures maintain control over the industry? And if so, will they be able to come up with sufficiently radical innovations to steer us into the electromobility of tomorrow? One thing is certain: the transition to electromobility will be a revolution. The book’s combined approach to understanding this complex reality enables readers to better visualize the possible future directions. It offers anyone interested in electromobility an excellent review of the subject and a useful roadmap to future developments.
A Soul of a New Machine for our time, a gripping account of invention, commerce, and duplicity in the age of technology A worldwide race is on to perfect the next engine of economic growth, the advanced lithium-ion battery. It will power the electric car, relieve global warming, and catapult the winner into a new era of economic and political mastery. Can the United States win? Steve LeVine was granted unprecedented access to a secret federal laboratory outside Chicago, where a group of geniuses is trying to solve this next monumental task of physics. But these scientists— almost all foreign born—are not alone. With so much at stake, researchers in Japan, South Korea, and China are in the same pursuit. The drama intensifies when a Silicon Valley start-up licenses the federal laboratory’s signature invention with the aim of a blockbuster sale to the world’s biggest carmakers. The Powerhouse is a real-time, two-year thrilling account of big invention, big commercialization, and big deception. It exposes the layers of competition and ambition, aspiration and disappointment behind this great turning point in the history of technology.
A USA Today New and Noteworthy Title “You’ll tell me if it ever starts getting genuinely insane, right?”—Elon Musk, TED interview Hamish McKenzie tells how a Silicon Valley start-up's wild dream came true. Tesla is a car company that stood up against not only the might of the government-backed Detroit car manufacturers but also the massive power of Big Oil and its benefactors, the infamous Koch brothers. The award-winning Tesla Model 3, a premium mass-market electric car that went on sale in 2018, has reconfigured the popular perception of Tesla and continues to transform the public's relationship with motor vehicles—much like Ford's Model T did nearly a century ago. At the same time, company CEO Elon Musk courts controversy and spars with critics through his Twitter account, just as Tesla's ever-increasing debt teeters on junk bond status.... As McKenzie's rigorously reported account shows, Tesla has triggered frenzied competition from newcomers and traditional automakers alike, but it retains an edge because of its expansive infrastructure and the stupendous battery factory it built in the Nevada desert. The popularity of electric cars is growing around the world, especially in China, and McKenzie interviews little-known titans who have the money and the market access to power a global electric car revolution quickly and decisively. Insane Mode started off as a feature on the dual-motor Tesla Model S, which gave the car Ferrari-like acceleration, but it's also the perfect description of the operating cycle of a company that has sworn it won't rest until every car on the road is electric. Here is a story about the very best kind of American ingenuity and its history-making potential. Buckle up!
