The Emperor of the Sorcerers by Budhasvamin Pdf

Budha-svamin tells the epic tale of the youthful exploits of prince Nara-vahana-datta. It is indeed a great story, as its Sanskrit title declares. Epic in scope and scale, it has everything that a great story should: adventure, romance, suspense, intrigue, tragedy and comedy. The reader is taken from royal palaces to flying sorcerers' mountain fastnesses via courtesans' bedrooms and merchant ships. The frame story narrates Nara-vahana-datta's progress culminating in his enthronement as Emperor of the Sorcerers, winning twenty-six wives along the way. Volume One's adventures end with his lute contest and marriage to Gandharva-datta. The fast and witty narrative eschews lengthy description and provides insights into ancient India.

The Emperor's Adviser by Lesley Connors Pdf

Saionji Kinmochi was an aristocrat, a scholar and a progressive liberal politician who twice occupied the highest political office in the nation and who, during three decades, as adviser to three Emperors, coordinated and directed Japanese politics. His long life encompassed the emergence of the modern Japanese state, the establishment of the constitution, the integration of Japan into the inter-war, international community and the creation, and subsequent erosion of the democratic process. The story of his twilight years chronicles the conflicts between the goals of liberalism and internationalism which dominated Japanese politics in the 1920s and the right-wing militarism which held sway in the years leading to the Pacific War. He was a central figure in the turbulent, formative period of Japan’s political ideology.

The Emperor's Old Clothes by Barbara Stollberg-Rilinger Pdf

For many years, scholars struggled to write the history of the constitution and political structure of the Holy Roman Empire. This book argues that this was because the political and social order could not be understood without considering the rituals and symbols that held the Empire together. What determined the rules (and whether they were followed) depended on complex symbolic-ritual actions. By examining key moments in the political history of the Empire, the author shows that it was a vocabulary of symbols, not the actual written laws, that formed a political language indispensable in maintaining the common order.

By the Emperor's Hand by Timothy Dawson Pdf

As absolute as Hitler's control over the German war machine was, it depended on the ability, judgment and unquestioning loyalty of the senior officers charged with putting his ideas, however difficult, into effect.Top military historian James Lucas examines the stories of fourteen of these men: all of different rank, from varied backgrounds, and highly awarded, they exemplify German military prowess at its most dangerous. Among his subjects are Eduard Dietl, the commander of German forces in Norway and Eastern Europe; Werner Kampf, one of the most successful Panzer commanders of the war; and Kurt Meyer, commander of the Hitler Youth Division and one of Germany's youngest general officers. The author, one of the leading experts on all aspects of German military conduct of the Second World War, offers the reader a rare look into the nature of the German Army a curious mix of individual strength, petty officialdom and pragmatic action.

From Kwame Mbalia and Prince Joel David Makonnen comes an Afrofuturist adventure about a mythical Ethiopian empire. Sci-fi and fantasy combine in this epic journey to the stars. Yared Heywat lives an isolated life in Addis Prime -- a hardscrabble city with rundown tech, lots of rules, and not much to do. His worrywart Uncle Moti and bionic lioness Besa are his only family... and his only friends. But when a change in the game rules prompts Yared to log in with his real name, it triggers an attack that rocks the city. In the chaos, Uncle Moti disappears. Suddenly, all the stories Yared's uncle told him as a young boy are coming to life, of kingdoms in the sky and city-razing monsters. And somehow Yared is at the center of them. Together with Besa and the Ibis -- a game rival turned reluctant ally -- Yared must search for his uncle... and answers to his place in a forgotten, galaxy-spanning war.

In the Service of the Emperor by Edward J. Drea Pdf

Japan?s war in Asia and the Pacific from 1937 to 1945 continues to be a subject of great interest, yet the wartime Japanese army remains little understood outside Japan. Most published accounts rely on English-language works written in the 1950s and 1960s. The Japanese-language sources have remained relatively inaccessible to Western scholars in part because of the difficulty of the language, a difficulty that Edward J. Drea, who reads Japanese, surmounts. In a series of searching examinations of the structure, ethos, and goals of the Japanese military establishment, Drea offers new material on its tactics, operations, doctrine, and leadership. Based on original military documents, official histories, court diaries, and Emperor Hirohito?s own words, these twelve essays introduce Western readers to fifty years of Japanese scholarship about the war and Japan?s military institutions. In addition, Drea uses recently declassified Allied intelligence documents related to Japan to challenge existing views and conventional wisdom about the war.

Neutrino, the Emperor’s New Clothes - Review of Neutrino Experiments by B RAJASEKAR Pdf

In 1930, the idea of neutrino was born. The neutrino was said to have no mass, no energy attribute (frequency), electrically neutral and not interacting with matter - in short, a physically in-describable entity. In 1956 Clyde L. Cowan and Frederick Reines announced that they had detected the neutrinos released from the nuclear reactor. Since then, the neutrino experiments took a giant leap. All the countries are conducting many neutrino experiments at an enormous cost. Every new neutrino experiment finds new things about neutrinos. The neutrinos have – mass- magnetic moment - left handed property – parallel, anti-parallel – neutrino-antineutrino- flavor – many more. The neutrinos interact with almost all elements such as electron, hydrogen, deuterium, chlorine, gallium. The neutrinos have a complex mechanism by which the neutrinos can change their property (flavor) while travelling. 1n 1900, the gamma rays were discovered. By 1914, all properties of the gamma rays were experimentally found. In 1932, the neutron was discovered. In the subsequent experiments conducted in a couple of years, all the properties of the neutrons were understood. Generally, every new experiment of any physical entity brings closer to the understanding of that physical entity. This is a well-observed fact. In the case of neutrino, every new experiment adds a new property to the neutrino. The mystery of neutrino keeps billowing and deepening. Neutrino experiments grow in size and budget. No useful purpose of neutrino is ever found, excepting sky-high claims of the neutrino scientists to their respective governments for sucking the tax payer’s huge money. All looked little fishy – are the neutrino scientists building castles in the air? This book reviews the neutrino experiments and the findings shock one to the core.
