The Last Christmas Tree by James Lane Allen Pdf

Excerpt from The Last Christmas Tree: An Idyl of Immortality Life on this earth my children, means warmth. Do not forget that: whatever else it may be, life as we know it is warmth. Every living earthly thing is on fire and every fire is perpetually going out. When the warmth, when the fire, which is within us and which is perpetually going out, goes out for good, that is the end of us. It is the end of us as far as the life which we derive from the planet is ourselves. If our planetary life is our only life, when the planetary fire within us dies out, all of us dies out. Christmas-Tree Land (Classic Reprint) by Mrs. Molesworth Pdf

Excerpt from Christmas-Tree Land IT was not their home. That was easy to be seen by the eager looks of curiosity and surprise on the two little faces inside the heavy travelling carriage. Yet the faces were grave, and there was a weary look in the eyes, for the journey had been long, and it was not for pleasure that it had been undertaken. The evening was drawing in, and the day had been a somewhat gloomy one, but as the light slowly faded, a soft pink radiance Spread itself over the Sky. They had been driving for some distance through a flat monotonous country; then, as the ground began to rise, the coach-man relaxed his speed, and the children, without knowing it, fell into a half slumber. Excerpt from The Christmas Tree, and Other Poems Christmas eve. The stars are bright in the wintry sky, And the Wind is cold, oh, piercing cold But the Christmas bells chime merrily Up in the belfry brown and old. And cheerily 011 the high church walls, From vaulted roof to nave below, A brilliant light from the gasjets falls And fills the room With a midday glow. Growing and Marketing Christmas Trees (Classic Reprint) by John H. Gilliam Pdf

Excerpt from Growing and Marketing Christmas Trees Local requirements are substantial. Each year approximately Christmas trees are used in North Carolina. Currently, 80 per cent come in from Canada and Nova Scotia, with the remaining 20 per cent home grown. These home-grown trees are harvested mainly from pastures and farm woodlots, with only a relatively few trees from managed plantations. The managed plantation is the key to growing high-quality Christmas trees. Recognizing this, North Carolina Christmas tree growers have organized a Christmas Tree Growers' Cooperative. The purpose of this organization is to increase interest in commercial Christmas tree plantations and to encourage production of top-quality trees. On a national scale, the growing and marketing of Christmas trees is big business. In 1959, approximately trees were marketed in the United States. Of this total, were imported from Canada and Nova Scotia, with the balance harvested from farm woodlots and managed Christmas tree plantations in the United States. This represents an estimated retail business. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day by Edward E. Hale Pdf

Excerpt from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day: Ten Christmas Stories This is a collection of ten Christmas Stories, some of which have been published before. I have added a little essay, written on the occasion of the first Christmas celebrated by the King of Italy in Rome. The first story has never before been published. It is but fair to say that I have not drawn on imagination for Laura's night duty, alone upon her island. This is simply the account of what a brave New-England woman did, under like circumstances, because it was the duty next her hand. If any reader observes a resemblance between her position and that of a boy in another story in this volume, I must disarm censure, by saying, that she had never heard of him when she was called to this duty, and that I had never heard of her when I wrote his story.
