The Impressionist Murders by William Sargent Pdf

A murderer in Houston is arranging his crime scenes to resemble Impressionist paintings, and Detective Ross Clayton has to stop him before this vicious serial killer hits close to home.Suddenly without warning, the killer was on him, turning him over. For the first time he could see the killer's face. His body was covered in Youssef's blood, but what was the man wearing? It looked like a jumpsuit of some sort made of clear plastic. The killer grabbed him by the lapels of his jacket lifting his torso off the concrete. Just as his head involuntarily arched backward from its own weight, the killer swung the curved blade weapon his throat just as he had Youssef's?.He could feel the killer removing the duct tape from his ankles and wrists, and for a fraction of a second he wanted to command his brain to react, to kick, or to attack his killer with his freed hands. He could do neither. The last clear thought that his mind registered was a lament that he hadn't listened to his mother. He closed his eyes and quietly died. When the fireworks display was over, a bank of lights on the north side of Minute Maid Park came on, lighting the walkways and the concrete sidewalks along the Crawford Street. It would take another eight minutes for the crowd to spill out of the stadium and into the surrounding streets and find the slain bodies of Youssef and Omar Abuo.

He suspects this killer isnt finished. His suspicions turn out to be correct as more men end up dead and similarly arranged. Every victim is of Arab descent, and its hard to deny the killer must have both some kind of racial vendetta and a love for Impressionist art. Clayton and his partner have no choice but to seek out an expertLund Corbel from the Houston Fine Arts Museum. He sets them on the right path, but their path gets crowded as the serial killer continues the spree. Clayton has solved plenty of strange crimes before, but hes beginning to feel out of his depth, especially following the death of a fellow cop in pursuit of another investigation involving drugs, prostitution, and murder. Soon, two investigations collide, and the end wont be as pretty as a painting.

Murder Brushed with Gold by Neal Sanders Pdf

Roland Evans-Jones thought by lending an 1889 work by a minor American Impressionist to an upcoming art exhibition, the value of his painting might increase by a few thousand dollars. But when pages from the artist's journal are found wedged in the frame - and they tell of a double murder committed by one of the dominant painters of that era - Roland knows he has something sensational on his hands.Using clues provided by the painting and the journal, Detective John Flynn, now-former garden club president Liz Phillips, and Roland set out to see if there are, indeed, two bodies buried behind a modest house in the Boston suburb of Hardington. What they find is something no one could have expected, and thus begins twin tales: one of the lengths to which the descendants of an artist will go to protect a legacy; and another of illicit riches being made today through robocalls and phone scams. The attraction between Liz and Flynn is more evident than ever as events in their lives sweep them toward an unknown future.Murder Brushed with Gold is the sixth entry in a series that includes A Murder in the Garden Club and A Murder at the Flower Show.

CŽzanne, Murder, and Modern Life by AndrŽ Dombrowski Pdf

"Cézanne, Murder and Modern Life changes the way we think about—and see—Cézanne’s entire oeuvre. Dombrowski’s arguments are convincing and bold, especially on the theme of murder as a vehicle for representation. Modern Olympia has never before been so satisfactorily analyzed." Susan Sidlauskus, Rutgers University, author of Cezanne's Other: The Portraits of Hortense “Exciting and intelligent, Cézanne, Murder, and Modern Life will be important for modernists, and essential for scholars of Cézanne, early Impressionism, and painting in the 1860s. Dombrowski shows us a Cézanne we did not know.” Nancy Locke, author of Manet and the Family Romance

The Impressionist by Hari Kunzru Pdf

From the author of White Tears, this bestselling, award-winning novel of a young man’s journey explores what it means to be Indian or English, black or white, and every degree that lies between. Pran Nath Razdan, the boy who will become the Impressionist, was passed off by his Indian mother as the child of her husband, a wealthy man of a high caste. Pran lived a life of luxury just downriver from the Taj Mahal, but at fifteen, the news of Pran’s true parentage is revealed to his father and he is tossed out into the street—a pariah and an outcast. Thus begins an extraordinary, near mythical journey of a young man who must reinvent himself to survive—not once, but many times. From Victorian India to Edwardian London, from an expatriate community of black Americans in Paris to a hopeless expedition to study a lost tribe of Africa, Hari Kunzru’s unforgettable debut novel dazzles with its artistry and wit while it challenges with its insights into the self, nationality, race, and beyond.
