The Incredibly Amazing and Magical Flying Chair by Bob Shumaker,Nancy Machlis Rechtman Pdf

Noah Gibson comes from a family that has magic in their blood. He is also an overly imaginative seventh grader whose magician father has mysteriously disappeared. The only clue Noah has to his father’s sudden departure is a magical reading chair in the attic. Noah believes the chair has the power to transport the person sitting in it anywhere they wish, but he has trouble convincing his friends and family. When a little white lie told to his teacher and classmates grows into increasingly fantastical stories about his summer vacation, Noah must find out once and for all whether the reading chair is truly magical, or if his imagination has consumed him. If it’s true, then Noah might just have a chance at finding his father and bringing him home safely.

The Seventh Chair by Ann Keffer Pdf

Descending out of the blue of a bright afternoon in Washington, D.C., appears what looks more clearly by the second like a chair-a heavy, ornate, wooden chair with a high carved back and jutting armrests, all polished to a high gloss and looking like booty from some medieval castle. Seated in the chair, and coming into clearer focus every second, is a nun dressed in a habit, complete with wimple and veil. The chair lands on a school playground amid a circle of children, and the nun, slick as a whistle, shimmies out of her habit to reveal underneath a silver robe with stars and crescent moons worked in gold all over it. The most shocking change, though, is that she is no longer a she. Without the habit, it is obvious that this "nun" is really one of the littlest, oldest, most dried-up men any of the children has ever seen. Who is this person who arrives by means of a magic flying chair? Join Davy MacDougal, Wally Wilkins, and this mysterious figure from the ancient past in an adventure the likes of which their school has never before experienced.

Saints and Lovers by Lorianne Karney Pdf

Sometimes we forget, and in forgetting, remember who we are," writes the girl on the train. She becomes committed to a path through the reality of 36 hours, on a journey that encompasses years of living. Saints and Lovers tells the story of a woman going home, a story peopled with the lives of friends and demons who travel with her. As the train draws nearer to a destination, the nameless woman finds herself coming face to face with these beasts, in flesh and in memory, and the terrible secret she has been running from for so long. At the same time harsh and tender, the story of her life crosses the landscapes of space and consciousness, weaving fantasy and memory into the moment that is now, here. Poetic and compelling, Saints and Lovers paints the contours of human emotion and the heart's ability to forgive while still staying true.

Fuel by Heidi C. M. Scott Pdf

This book is available as open access through the Bloomsbury Open Access programme and is available on www.bloomsburycollections.com. Fuel: An Ecocritical History is the first book to chart our changing attitudes to fuel and energy through the literature and culture of the modern era, focusing on the 18th-century to the present. Reading a wide range of writers from Blake, Austen and Dickens to Upton Sinclair and Edward Abbey, Heidi Scott explores how our move from a pre-industrial reliance on biomass and elemental energy sources to our current dependence on the fossil fuels of coal, oil and natural gas have fundamentally shaped human identity and culture. The book's Anthropocene perspective reshapes our view of energy history and climate change, and Fuel looks forward to ways in which we can reimagine our culture away from the fossil fuel paradigm towards a more sustainable energy future driven by renewable, elemental energy.

Somniloquarry, Dreams & Drawings by Kevin Millsap Pdf

As might be expected, the inspiration for this introduction came to me in a dream. Now, finally, I know the book is complete. It represents a long tenacious labor of many small quiet moments collected into a form that I hope you will enjoy. The text holds all the dreams (::) that I have written down. I began that recording process in the spring of 1981 at the age of 22. They span from my fourth year up to my forty-fifth, 1963 to 2004. These are actual nocturnal visions that were given to me in sleep. I have polished on them intensely all spring and feel that they have become a worthy set of image poems. The ink drawings (”) were done while awake. They are grouped to improve the flow of reading. Those sections do mark the moment in time of their actual public showings. Interspersing each of them into its chronological place would not do justice to the hundreds of other things that I have doodled and failed to capture. In total they present the story of a life. The narration and art are only (mostly) from the usually silent unconscious. Mundane events and needs have caused large gaps in the time-line. This work can be seen as a true novel or as an odd autobiography. Each entry is a crumb from my dreaming mind. I welcome you to the feast.
