The Karma of Self, Volume IV by Vasile Munteanu Pdf

This is the fourth volume of The Karma of Self where the same narrator addresses the issue of Karma as an Aesthetic endeavour. In The Karma of Self the narrator makes the following statement: "There is life before the appearance of the aesthetic and there is life after this realization. Once the realization takes place it cannot be put back in the bottle, as it were. One's relation with the world and with one's Self are completely and forever changed for the better." The present volume is an attempt to explain that initial assessment and a meditation on the results of the inquiry.

The Karma of Self, Volume II by Vasile Munteanu Pdf

This is the second volume of The Karma of Self where the same narrator addresses the issue of the influence of emotions in one's existence. In The Karma of Self the narrator makes the following promise: "It occurred to him that perhaps he should make a list of all the strongest emotions he had experienced, and figure out which ones had been running his life without him being aware of it. Some of them came to mind right away, but he didn't want to act hastily in this situation since the results had the potential to be quite revealing." The present book is a fulfillment of that initial promise and a meditation on the results of this inquiry.

Selected Works of D.T. Suzuki, Volume IV by Daisetsu Teitaro Suzuki Pdf

Daisetsu Teitarо̄ Suzuki was a key figure in the introduction of Buddhism to the non-Asian world. Many outside Japan encountered Buddhism for the first time through his writings and teaching, and for nearly a century his work and legacy have contributed to the ongoing religious and cultural interchange between Japan and the rest of the world, particularly the United States and Europe. This fourth volume of Selected Works of D. T. Suzuki brings together a range of Suzuki’s writings in the area of Buddhist studies. Based on his text-critical work in the Chinese canon, these essays reflect his commitment to clarifying Mahāyāna Buddhist doctrines in Indian, Chinese, and Japanese historical contexts. Many of these innovative writings reflect Buddhological discourse in contemporary Japan and the West’s pre-war ignorance of Mahāyāna thought. Included is a translation into English for the first time of his "Mahāyāna Was Not Preached by Buddha." In addition to editing the essays and contributing the translation, Mark L. Blum presents an introduction that examines how Suzuki understood Mahāyāna discourse via Chinese sources and analyzes his problematic use of Sanskrit.

The Karma of Self by Vasile Munteanu Pdf

This is the third volume of The Karma of Self where the same narrator addresses the issue of the influence of a shadow presence that is always hiding behind each of his dreams. In The Karma of Self the narrator makes the following statement: "He had felt a presence always hiding behind the shimmering, illusory veneer of his dreams and the shadow had been there for a long time. It was the shadow of beauty although he didn't know it for sure, at least not yet." The present volume is an attempt to explain that initial assessment and a meditation on the results of the inquiry.

A History of Indian Philosophy, Volume I by Surendranath Dasgupta Pdf

The old civilisation of India was a concrete unity of many-sided developments in art, architecture, literature, religion, morals, and science so far as it was understood in those days. But the most important achievement of Indian thought was philosophy. It was regarded as the goal of all the highest practical and theoretical activities, and it indicated the point of unity amidst all the apparent diversities which the complex growth of culture over a vast area inhabited by different peoples produced. It is not in the history of foreign invasions, in the rise of independent kingdoms at different times, in the empires of this or that great monarch that the unity of India is to be sought. It is essentially one of spiritual aspirations and obedience to the law of the spirit, which were regarded as superior to everything else, and it has outlived all the political changes through which India passed. The Greeks, the Huns, the Scythians, the Pathans and the Moguls who occupied the land and controlled the political machinery never ruled the minds of the people, for these political events were like hurricanes or the changes of season, mere phenomena of a natural or physical order which never affected the spiritual integrity of Hindu culture. If after a passivity of some centuries India is again going to become creative it is mainly on account of this fundamental unity of her progress and civilisation and not for anything that she may borrow from other countries. It is therefore indispensably necessary for all those who wish to appreciate the significance and potentialities of Indian culture that they should properly understand the history of Indian philosophical thought which is the nucleus round which all that is best and highest in India has grown. Much harm has already been done by the circulation of opinions that the culture and philosophy of India was dreamy and abstract. It is therefore very necessary that Indians as well as other peoples should become more and more acquainted with the true characteristics of the past history of Indian thought and form a correct estimate of its special features.

A History of Indian Philosophy: Volume 4 by Dasgupta Pdf

In this benchmark five-volume study, originally published between 1922 and 1955, Surendranath Dasgupta examines the principal schools of thought that define Indian philosophy. A unifying force greater than art, literature, religion, or science, Professor Dasgupta describes philosophy as the most important achievement of Indian thought, arguing that an understanding of its history is necessary to appreciate the significance and potentialities of India's complex culture. Volume IV provides an examination of the Bhagavata Purana, Madhva, the controversy between the Dualists and the Monists, the philosophy of Vallabha, Caitanya and his followers, and the philosophy of Jiva Gosvami and Baladeva Vidyabhusana.

Science and Philosophy in the Indian Buddhist Classics, Vol. 4 by Thupten Jinpa Pdf

This fourth and final Science and Philosophy in the Indian Buddhist Classics volume provides, through extensive passages, a window into the works of the great thinkers from the flowering of philosophy in classical India. This is the second philosophy volume in the Science and Philosophy series. Whereas the first philosophy volume presented the views of the non-Buddhist and Buddhist schools in sequence, the present work selects specific topics for consideration, including the nature of the two truths, the analysis of self, the Yogacara explanation of reality, emptiness in the Madhyamaka tradition, a survey of logic and epistemology, and the Buddhist explanation of language and meaning. Like earlier volumes, it provides, through extensive extracts, a window into the works of the masters of the Nalanda tradition. The final section on language is particularly unique and largely crafted by Thupten Jinpa.

Holy Fable Volume IV by Robert M. Price Pdf

In this fourth volume of Robert M. Price's celebrated Holy Fable series, he turns his critical lens away from the Bible and toward a broader range of scriptural works that were written, or rediscovered, in modern times. Employing the same sympathetic but eagle-eyed treatment that defined past volumes, he offers in-depth analysis of the Joseph Smith–penned Book of Mormon; the long-sealed Gospel according to Thomas; the New Age Jesus of the Aquarian Gospel; the H. P. Lovecraft–invented Necronomicon; and the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar. With his trademark scholarship and wit, he demonstrates how and why this eclectic mix of contemporary scriptural work provides genuine spiritual inspiration to a colorful variety of religious groups and seekers today.
