And what of those apparitions in Mammoth Cave's Corpse Rock, or the Satan-spawn known as the Jersey Devil? How do you respond when those mysteries confront? The Bye Bye Man by Robert Damon Schneck Pdf

The True Story behind the Terrifying Movie Don't think of his name... In 1990, three college students spent a long Wisconsin winter experimenting with a Ouija board; it turned out to be the deadliest mistake of their lives. The board brought them into contact with a psychic serial killer, known only as the Bye Bye Man. Learning his name makes you vulnerable, but thinking about it draws the Bye Bye Man to you. He is a relentless traveler, moving night and day, coming ever closer until the shrill sound of a steady whistle announces his arrival. He might turn up outside your bedroom door, speaking in the voice of a trusted friend, someone who would never hurt you… Here is the authentically terrifying, true-life story recounted by historian Robert Damon Schneck in a chapter of his classic underground collection of weird Americana, which formed the basis for the major motion picture, The Bye Bye Man. This unsettling tale is accompanied by seven more chapters of twisted history, and includes the author’s new afterword, “Searching for The Bye Bye Man.”

Monkeys Don't Wear Silver Suits by Tim Ghianni,Rob Dollar Pdf

Two of America's most highly-regarded independent journalists - Rob Dollar and Tim Ghianni, also known as "The News Brothers" - look into their crystal ball while exploring the legendary UFO case that helped shape the narrative for sightings of Little Green Men. It was a hot, clear summer night - Sunday, August 21, 1955 - when a flying saucer supposedly landed in Kelly, Kentucky, near a farmhouse occupied by eight adults and three children. A night of terror followed as the farm family battled what they described as little gremlin-like space creatures that floated and were immune to bullets. At the invasion scene, investigators found no evidence of a spaceship or a Close Encounter of the Third Kind - only a group of people who had been nearly frightened to death. In the more than half-century since the Kelly incident, no one has been able to prove, or disprove, the fantastic tale told by the occupants of the farmhouse. Something happened that night, but what? In the irony of ironies, the 62nd anniversary of the invasion of the little men falls on the same day as a rare total eclipse of the sun that will turn the daytime sky dark in Western Kentucky - including the Kelly community - for about 2 minutes and 40 seconds. The perfect timing of the two events can't be a coincidence. Are the little men coming back?

American Myths, Legends, and Tall Tales [3 volumes] by Christopher R. Fee,Jeffrey B. Webb Pdf

A fascinating survey of the entire history of tall tales, folklore, and mythology in the United States from earliest times to the present, including stories and myths from the modern era that have become an essential part of contemporary popular culture. Folklore has been a part of American culture for as long as humans have inhabited North America, and increasingly formed an intrinsic part of American culture as diverse peoples from Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania arrived. In modern times, folklore and tall tales experienced a rejuvenation with the emergence of urban legends and the growing popularity of science fiction and conspiracy theories, with mass media such as comic books, television, and films contributing to the retelling of old myths. This multi-volume encyclopedia will teach readers the central myths and legends that have formed American culture since its earliest years of settlement. Its entries provide a fascinating glimpse into the collective American imagination over the past 400 years through the stories that have shaped it. Organized alphabetically, the coverage includes Native American creation myths, "tall tales" like George Washington chopping down his father's cherry tree and the adventures of "King of the Wild Frontier" Davy Crockett, through to today's "urban myths." Each entry explains the myth or legend and its importance and provides detailed information about the people and events involved. Each entry also includes a short bibliography that will direct students or interested general readers toward other sources for further investigation. Special attention is paid to African American folklore, Asian American folklore, and the folklore of other traditions that are often overlooked or marginalized in other studies of the topic.

Close Encounters at Kelly and Others Of 1955 by Isabel Davis Ted Bloecher Pdf

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS AT KELLY AND OTHERS OF 1955 (unabridged). On the evening of August 21, 1955, five adults and seven children arrived at the Hopkinsville police station claiming that small alien creatures from a spaceship were attacking their farmhouse and they had been holding them off with gunfire "for nearly four hours". Two of the adults, Elmer Sutton and Billy Ray Taylor, claimed they had been shooting at "twelve to fifteen" short, dark figures who repeatedly popped up at the doorway or peered into the windows. Concerned about a possible gun battle between local citizens, four city police, five state troopers, three deputy sheriffs, and four military police from the nearby US Army Fort Campbell drove to the Sutton farmhouse located near the town of Kelly in Christian County. Their search yielded nothing apart from evidence of gunfire and holes in window and door screens made by firearms. Residents of the farmhouse included Glennie Lankford, her children, Lonnie, Charlton, and Mary, two sons from a previous marriage, Elmer "Lucky" Sutton, John Charley "J.C." Sutton, and their respective wives, Vera and Alene, Alene's brother O.P. Baker, and Billy Ray Taylor and his wife June. Both the Taylors, "Lucky" and Vera Sutton were reportedly itinerant carnival workers that were visiting the farmhouse. The next day, neighbours told two officers that the families had "packed up and left" after claiming "the creatures had returned about 3:30 in the morning". This publication looks at this encounter and others from 1955.It was first published in 1978 by the Center for UFO Studies and re-published in 2018 by Flying Disk Press. Cover design by Mark Randall.

The Lost Men by Kelly Tyler-Lewis Pdf

The untold story of the last odyssey of the heroic age of Antarctic exploration Sir Ernest Shackleton’s 1914 Antarctic endeavor is legend, but for sheer heroism and tragic nobility, nothing compares to the saga of the Ross Sea party. This crew of explorers landed on the opposite side of Antarctica from the Endurance with a mission to build supply depots for Shackleton’s planned crossing of the continent. But their ship disappeared in a gale, leaving ten inexperienced, ill-equipped men to trek 1,356 miles in the harshest environment on earth. Drawing on the men’s own journals and photographs, The Lost Men is a masterpiece of historical adventure, a book destined to be a classic in the vein of Into Thin Air.
