The Modern Alchemist by Richard Miller Pdf

Traditional religions, with their emphasis upon ritual and belief, often fail to meet the spiritual needs of contemporary individuals. Nonetheless, the direct experience of life's sacred dimension yields many positive results for the human personality and inner spirit. The Modern Alchemist has a great deal to say to those who are seeking spiritual nourishment in the modern age. It is a first-hand, experiential guide to the process which medieval alchemists represented as the transformation of "lead into gold," or lower substances into higher ones. To Richard and Iona Miller, the transformation goes much further than that-- it is an inner change which leads to wholeness, integration, and flowering of the total personality. Using the language of depth psychology as well as alchemy, they show how we can actualize our birthright and become consciously involved in the natural transformative process. In this way, we can find a more intimate connection with the guiding, nurturing powers of the universe and the "lose parts of ourselves.

Alchemist of the Avant-Garde by John F. Moffitt Pdf

Acknowledged as the "Artist of the Century," Marcel Duchamp (1887–1968) left a legacy that dominates the art world to this day. Inventing the ironically dégagé attitude of "ready-made" art-making, Duchamp heralded the postmodern era and replaced Pablo Picasso as the role model for avant-garde artists. John F. Moffitt challenges commonly accepted interpretations of Duchamp's art and persona by showing that his mature art, after 1910, is largely drawn from the influence of the occult traditions. Moffitt demonstrates that the key to understanding the cryptic meaning of Duchamp's diverse artworks and writings is alchemy, the most pictorial of all the occult philosophies and sciences.

Tales of a Modern Alchemist by Dr Ana Garcia Dtm, PhD Pdf

"We are living in a complex, some would say difficult times. Part of the difficulty of these times is that humans don't surrender to clarity and vision. This is because this requires that we release control. We understand control as our only way to survive when we feel fear: we hold tight to what we have or where we are in an attempt to diminish our anxiety, but this road doesn't take us very far.We know that change is necessary in every cycle in our lives, both big and small, but our tendency is to act chaotically when we feel lack of control. This translates into feelings of anxiety, lethargy, depression, fear, frustration, anger... And even though these are natural e-motions (energy-in-motion) they do require to be channelled or re-directed in order for us to create positive outcomes."Tales of a Modern Alchemist" is a book born from the isolation of the Covid-19 virus lock-down. With these real and magical life stories, I show the way that we can transmute all these fears into real-life positive actions in order to help us expand our view of the world and liberate our own-made prisons, once and for all" Note from the Author: This book contains a complete library of inspirational posts taken from the book. Please, feel free to use them as your daily inspirational messages to keep you focused as a Modern Alchemist.

The Alchemist in Literature by Theodore Ziolkowski Pdf

Unlike most other studies of alchemy and literature, which focus on alchemical imagery in poetry of specific periods or writers, this book traces the figure of the alchemist in Western literature from its first appearance in the Eighth Circle of Dante's Inferno down to the present. From the beginning alchemy has had two aspects: exoteric or operative (the transmutation of baser metals into gold) and esoteric or speculative (the spiritual transformation of the alchemist himself). From Dante to Ben Jonson, during the centuries when the belief in exoteric alchemy was still strong and exploited by many charlatans to deceive the gullible, writers in major works of many literatures treated alchemists with ridicule in an effort to expose their tricks. From the Renaissance to the Enlightenment, as that belief weakened, the figure of the alchemist disappeared, even though Protestant poets in England and Germany were still fond of alchemical images. But when eighteenth-century science almost wholly undermined alchemy, the figure of the alchemist began to emerge again in literature—now as a humanitarian hero or as a spirit striving for sublimation. Following these esoteric romanticizations, as scholarly interest in alchemy intensified, writers were attracted to the figure of the alchemist and his quest for power. The fin-de-siecle saw a further transformation as poets saw in the alchemist a symbol for the poet per se and others, influenced by the prevailing spiritism, as a manifestation of the religious spirit. During the interwar years, as writers sought surrogates for the widespread loss of religious faith, esoteric alchemy underwent a pronounced revival, and many writers turned to the figure of the alchemist as a spiritual model or, in the case of Paracelsus in Germany, as a national figurehead. This tendency, theorized by C. G. Jung in several major studies, inspired after World War II a vast popularization of the figure in novels—historical, set in the present, or juxtaposing past and present— in England, France, Germany, Italy, Brazil, and the United States. The inevitable result of this popularization was the trivialization of the figure in advertisements for healing and cooking or in articles about scientists and economists. In sum: the figure of the alchemist in literature provides a seismograph for major shifts in intellectual and cultural history.

On Becoming an Alchemist by Catherine MacCoun Pdf

Many regard alchemy as a metaphor for inner transformation. But this is only half the story. According to Catherine MacCoun, alchemy is no mere metaphor. It’s real magic. Transforming the inner world is, for the alchemist, a way to transform the outer world. Through studying the principles of alchemy, we can achieve extraordinary effects from ordinary actions by understanding how the world really works. We can perceive the hidden connections between the spiritual and the material worlds. Knowledge of these connections enables us to influence external phenomena through the powers of heart and mind alone. Yet alchemy is not, like some forms of magic, the exercise of mind over matter. It is the art of taking what already exists—whatever presents itself—and transmuting the harmful into the helpful, the useless into the valuable. On Becoming an Alchemist initiates us into these secrets, showing us how to think, perceive, and operate as an alchemist. It offers practical advice and exercises that will help the modern magician to: • Understand and apply basic principles of alchemy • Transmute setbacks, failures, and losses into sources of magical power • Navigate one’s inner world with poise, confidence, and common sense • Intuitively show up in the right place at the right time to benefit from magical coincidences • Discover the potentials latent in any situation by awakening subtle perception To learn more about the author Catherine MacCoun go to www.hermeticist.com.
