Action Plan for Critical Infrastructure by Anonim Pdf
The National Strategy for Critical Infrastructure and supporting Action Plan establish a collaborative federal, provincial, territorial and critical infrastructure sector approach that will be used to strengthen critical infrastructure resiliency. To keep pace with the rapidly evolving risk environment, a key element of the national approach is an Action Plan that builds on the central themes of the National Strategy : sustainable partnerships with federal, provincial and territorial governments and critical infrastructure sectors; improved information sharing and protection; and a commitment to all-hazards risk management. ... This Plan sets out action items in the areas of partnerships, risk management and information sharing. Given the range, complexity and linked nature of these action items, a critical path is also detailed.

National infrastructure protection plan by United States. Department of Homeland Security Pdf
Protecting the critical infrastructure and key resources (CI/KR) of the United States is essential to the Nation's security, public health and safety, economic vitality, and way of life. Attacks on CI/KR could significantly disrupt the functioning of government and business alike and produce cascading effects far beyond the targeted sector and physical location of the incident. Direct terrorist attacks and natural, manmade, or technological hazards could produce catastrophic losses in terms of human casualties, property destruction, and economic effects, as well as profound damage to public morale and confidence. Attacks using components of the Nation's CI/KR as weapons of mass destruction could have even more devastating physical and psychological consequences. The overarching goal of the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP) is as follows: Build a safer, more secure, and more resilient America by enhancing protection of the Nation's CI/KR to prevent, deter, neutralize, or mitigate the effects of deliberate efforts by terrorists to destroy, incapacitate, or exploit them; and to strengthen national preparedness, timely response, and rapid recovery in the event of an attack, natural disaster, or other emergency. The NIPP provides the unifying structure for the integration of existing and future CI/KR protection efforts into a single national program to achieve this goal. The NIPP framework will enable the prioritization of protection initiatives and investments across sectors to ensure that government and private sector resources are applied where they offer the most benefit for mitigating risk by lessening vulnerabilities, deterring threats, and minimizing the consequences of terrorist attacks and other manmade and natural disasters. The NIPP risk management framework recognizes and builds on existing protective programs and initiatives.

Critical Infrastructures by John D. Moteff Pdf
The nation¿s health, wealth, and security rely on the production and distribution of certain goods and services. The array of physical assets, functions, and systems across which these goods and services move are called critical infrastructures (CI) (e.g., electricity, the power plants that generate it, and the electric grid upon which it is distributed). The national security community is concerned about the vulnerability of CI to both physical and cyber attack. This report discusses the evolution of a national CI policy and the institutional structures established to implement it. The report highlights five issues of Congressional concern: identifying critical assets; assessing vulnerabilities and risks; allocating resources; info. sharing; and regulation. Illustrations.

Strong Towns by Charles L. Marohn, Jr. Pdf
A new way forward for sustainable quality of life in cities of all sizes Strong Towns: A Bottom-Up Revolution to Build American Prosperity is a book of forward-thinking ideas that breaks with modern wisdom to present a new vision of urban development in the United States. Presenting the foundational ideas of the Strong Towns movement he co-founded, Charles Marohn explains why cities of all sizes continue to struggle to meet their basic needs, and reveals the new paradigm that can solve this longstanding problem. Inside, you’ll learn why inducing growth and development has been the conventional response to urban financial struggles—and why it just doesn’t work. New development and high-risk investing don’t generate enough wealth to support itself, and cities continue to struggle. Read this book to find out how cities large and small can focus on bottom-up investments to minimize risk and maximize their ability to strengthen the community financially and improve citizens’ quality of life. Develop in-depth knowledge of the underlying logic behind the “traditional” search for never-ending urban growth Learn practical solutions for ameliorating financial struggles through low-risk investment and a grassroots focus Gain insights and tools that can stop the vicious cycle of budget shortfalls and unexpected downturns Become a part of the Strong Towns revolution by shifting the focus away from top-down growth toward rebuilding American prosperity Strong Towns acknowledges that there is a problem with the American approach to growth and shows community leaders a new way forward. The Strong Towns response is a revolution in how we assemble the places we live.

Critical Information Infrastructure Protection and the Law by National Academy of Engineering,National Research Council,Division on Engineering and Physical Sciences,Computer Science and Telecommunications Board,Committee on Critical Information Infrastructure Protection and the Law Pdf
All critical infrastructures are increasingly dependent on the information infrastructure for information management, communications, and control functions. Protection of the critical information infrastructure (CIIP), therefore, is of prime concern. To help with this step, the National Academy of Engineering asked the NRC to assess the various legal issues associated with CIIP. These issues include incentives and disincentives for information sharing between the public and private sectors, and the role of FOIA and antitrust laws as a barrier or facilitator to progress. The report also provides a preliminary analysis of the role of criminal law, liability law, and the establishment of best practices, in encouraging various stakeholders to secure their computer systems and networks.

Butterworths Planning Law by Robbie Owen Pdf
The Planning Act 2008 introduced a totally new regime to obtain consent for developments for nationally significant infrastructure projects (NSIPs) such as rail, roads, power stations, airport related development, dams and reservoirs etc. This represents a radical new statutory based process and a fundamental change in the way major development is authorised in the UK and will require a complete overhaul of the present procedure and practices. The powers of the Secretary of State will be increased so that the Government can speed up the planning process to pass infrastructure projects such as plans for the third runway at Heathrow.Butterworths Planning Law: A Practical Guide to National Infrastructure Projects is an expert review of the regime. The book provides a guide to the legal requirements under the Act, commentary on the implications for practitioners, practical tips and checklists on each stage of the process.
