The Osprey Fly Box by Peter Caverhill,Phil Rowley,Danie Erasmus,Osprey of British Columbia Pdf

The Osprey Fly Fishers of British Columbia is the second oldest fly fishing club in the province. The club was established in 1969 and was one of the founding clubs of the BC Federation of Fly Fishers. The club has a storied history and has had numerous members who have made significant contributions to the fly fishing community on conservation and environmental issues. Other members are published authors in various print media, sharing their knowledge with the fly fishing community at large. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the club, the decision was made to create a book of fly patterns celebrating the history of the Osprey Fly Fishers - a book featuring patterns that were originated by members of the Osprey Fly Fishers of BC and the consensus picks of the membership at large across numerous groups of flies. Project Manager and Chief Editor, Sandy McKinlay, surveyed club members asking for their "go to flies" across a broad range of groups of flies and then narrowed the list down to a "short list" of flies for each group. Many of these patterns have been around for decades. Others will have been developed within the past decade and may be relatively unknown outside of South Western British Columbia. Sandy then enlisted a member of the Ospreys - including published authors Phil Rowley, Peter Caverhill and Danie Erasmus - to share their knowledge of how to fish a specific group of flies. Each fly was professionally photographed "on location" - from the shore of a lake, along a river, on a dock or at the sea shore. The detail is incredible, the photography - spectacular! The Osprey Fly Box will be a valuable reference guide for anyone fishing the waters of the Pacific Northwest - be it stillwaters, rivers and streams or saltwater beaches. There are six chapters for stillwaters, three for rivers and streams, and one each for cutthroat, steelhead, freshwater salmon and saltwater salmon. Dad's Old Fly Box by Leonard Collins Pdf

As an Oregon writer, I have had the distinct honor to live, work, and play in the Pacific Northwest. Over the last forty years, it has seemed as if the world was at my doorstep, and what a marvelous world it has been to explore! I have fished it all, and hope to live to fish it all again. Come along and fish the Willamette, Clackamas, Eagle Creek, the Wilson River and more! Fish for steelhead and salmon. Fly fish for German brown trout. Fish alongside Betsi, and me, on wonderful lakes in the Cascade Range. Watch eagles and ospreys. Tie on an artificial fly or flip a spinner. It's all here. Have fun. Where the Osprey Flies by Warren Cederborg Pdf

From the author of Sacred Ground comes an inspirational story of the Northwest. Amid murder trials and seductive pitfalls, Clayton Bettencourt takes his brief marriage for granted while his wife fends off the gloom of a sorrowful existence. Smug in overblown virility and tenuous celebrity, Clayton is the toast of a major Seattle newspaper. Opposed to the flashy crime writer, his faithful wife Kara labors in obscurity and spousal neglect while strapped with the responsibility of caring for her aging grandmother. As Clayton discovers his humanity in the analogous lives of an admirable old man and a weary raptor, Kara wards off the oppressive demons of low self-esteem. A tribute to a golden generation and a vibrant account of faith, hope and preservation, Where the Osprey Flies examines the extremes of self-absorption and human understanding while exploring the limits of wilderness, in the natural world as well as the soul.

Instinctive Fly Fishing by Taylor Streit Pdf

This thoroughly revised and expanded new edition of Taylor Streit’s classic Instinctive Fly Fishing addresses the “real reasons people catch trout,” and offers suggestions and tips to help the aspiring angler take advantage of his or her own fly-fishing instincts. Since Instinctive was first published in 2003, the author has kept track of certain essential elements that were missing from the first edition. Even as he’s been out on a guide trip with a client, he’s kept notes about what “should have been in Instinctive.” This thorough revision benefits from more than seven years of his instinctive rumination. Rewritten with an eye toward a new audience, Instinctive aims for those who fish in competitive situations and overfished waters, which appeals especially to those in the eastern half of the United States. Additional content includes fishing tailwaters with tiny flies, practical information on insect hatches (tricos, blue winged olives, and green drakes) and illustrations of knots and rigs. Also included are additional chapters on the environment, stream manners, and safety.
