The Osprey Fly Box by Peter Caverhill,Phil Rowley,Danie Erasmus,Osprey of British Columbia Pdf

The Osprey Fly Fishers of British Columbia is the second oldest fly fishing club in the province. The club was established in 1969 and was one of the founding clubs of the BC Federation of Fly Fishers. The club has a storied history and has had numerous members who have made significant contributions to the fly fishing community on conservation and environmental issues. Other members are published authors in various print media, sharing their knowledge with the fly fishing community at large. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the club, the decision was made to create a book of fly patterns celebrating the history of the Osprey Fly Fishers - a book featuring patterns that were originated by members of the Osprey Fly Fishers of BC and the consensus picks of the membership at large across numerous groups of flies. Project Manager and Chief Editor, Sandy McKinlay, surveyed club members asking for their "go to flies" across a broad range of groups of flies and then narrowed the list down to a "short list" of flies for each group. Many of these patterns have been around for decades. Others will have been developed within the past decade and may be relatively unknown outside of South Western British Columbia. Sandy then enlisted a member of the Ospreys - including published authors Phil Rowley, Peter Caverhill and Danie Erasmus - to share their knowledge of how to fish a specific group of flies. Each fly was professionally photographed "on location" - from the shore of a lake, along a river, on a dock or at the sea shore. The detail is incredible, the photography - spectacular! The Osprey Fly Box will be a valuable reference guide for anyone fishing the waters of the Pacific Northwest - be it stillwaters, rivers and streams or saltwater beaches. Where the Osprey Flies by Warren Cederborg Pdf

From the author of Sacred Ground comes an inspirational story of the Northwest. Amid murder trials and seductive pitfalls, Clayton Bettencourt takes his brief marriage for granted while his wife fends off the gloom of a sorrowful existence. Smug in overblown virility and tenuous celebrity, Clayton is the toast of a major Seattle newspaper. Opposed to the flashy crime writer, his faithful wife Kara labors in obscurity and spousal neglect while strapped with the responsibility of caring for her aging grandmother. As Clayton discovers his humanity in the analogous lives of an admirable old man and a weary raptor, Kara wards off the oppressive demons of low self-esteem. A tribute to a golden generation and a vibrant account of faith, hope and preservation, Where the Osprey Flies examines the extremes of self-absorption and human understanding while exploring the limits of wilderness, in the natural world as well as the soul.

West with the Rise by James Barilla Pdf

"It is to fly-fishing that Barilla turns for answers. No one would mistake the modern world he travels through for that of the river-going Huck Finn: Barilla drives past strip malls, falls asleep to Dirty Harry playing on his motel-room television, and reads in a trout magazine of a familiar stream now degraded by urban sprawl. But then, as one fishing shop proprietor observes, "No place is what it was." And along his way, the author encounters many settings of uncommon beauty, from Yellow Breeches Creek in Pennsylvania to the Grand Deschutes River in Oregon, each with a singular fishing experience to offer."--Jacket.

Down by the River by Andrew Weiner Pdf

One beautiful autumn day, Art sets out with his mother and grandfather for a fishing trip. Fishing days are Art’s favorite. He loves learning the ropes from Grandpa—the different kinds of flies and tackle and the trout that frequent their favorite river. Art especially appreciates Grandpa’s stories. But, this time, hearing the story about Mom’s big catch on her first cast ever makes Art feel insecure about his own fishing skills. But, as Art hooks a beautiful brown trout, he finds reassurance in Grandpa’s stories and marvels in the sport and a day spent with family, promising to continue the tradition with his own grandkids generations later. Illustrated with lush imagery by rising star April Chu, Down by the River celebrates fishing, family, and fun.
