Worship by John F. MacArthur Pdf

Nothing is more important than worship. It is the theme of Scripture, the theme of eternity, and the theme of redemptive history— to worship the true and living and glorious God is the purpose of all creation. So why do we treat it as only what is sung or played in church on Sunday morning? Pastor John MacArthur leads you through Scripture texts about true worship. You will learn that worship is any essential expression of service rendered unto God by a soul that loves and extols Him for who He is. Worship is the nonstop role of believers, not merely part of a church service. So get ready to alter your priorities, aiming higher than entertaining worshipers on Sunday mornings. Worship shows that your ultimate priority must always be to worship the true and living God, with a radically different type of living.

The Effective Praise and Worship Leader by Ron Kenoly Pdf

Often times the role of a contemporary praise and worship leader who leads the people to worship in spirit and truth has been generally undervalued and grossly misunderstood. Pastors and other pulpit ministers depend on the worship leader to prepare an environment for the manifest presence of God. Through the praise and worship portion of the service, church leaders want the hearts and minds of the congregation to be ready to recieve the prepared word given from the pulpit. Many times church leaders do not have a clue of what or how to specifically accomplish that task. They do know that they want good anointed music and that is one of the few things that many appointed worship leaders and pastors have in common. Sometimes you have praise and worship leaders who have no clue of what they are supposed to be doing or trying to accomplish in the natural or spiritual realms. Yes, they may sing and play well on the instruments but they do not really know how to facilitate the manifestation of the presence of God. Far too many times the music ministry in the local church is made up of unskilled volunteers who make themselves available to help and serve. Of course we praise God for these wonderful servants of the Lord who give of their time and energy and serve with loyalty and faithfulness. On the other hand, many of them have no training about the purpose for praise and worship. Their lack of knowledge can prohibit the local church body from accomplishing a praise and worship experience that is pleasing to God. God is holy and His presence must be respected and protected. Jesus said in John 4:24 that those who worship God must worship in spirit and truth. He has an expectation about the attitude you must embrace to be acceptable to the Lord. Worship in spirit and truth requires more than fancy vocal aerobics, beautiful poetic lyrics and sweet or hot musical passages on the instruments. God is pleased with our talents but He is not impressed by them. We must remember that every good and perfect gift comes from the Father (James 1:17). Worship leaders must be prepared to properly demonstrate a balance between worship and the Word. Just knowing the music and sounding good is not all that God requires of true worshipers. God is always looking at the heart of the worshiper. This book will help the contemporary praise and worship leader in his or her role as an effective praise and worship leader. Introduction What are pastors really looking for in a worship leader? As I travel around the world I am often asked by pastors to recommend someone who could lead worship for their congregations. When they ask me this question I am often reluctant to give answers or recommendations right away. I try to get them to a quiet and private place where we can talk a little bit and find out exactly what they are trying to accomplish in their church and their services. Many times I begin the conversation by asking them, “What kind of person are you looking for?” Just asking for a praise and worship leader is not enough information for me to recommend someone. A well-rounded worship leader is someone who can be competent in several areas of church ministry. This book is written to Pastors, Worship Leaders- present and future – as well as anyone in the congregation desiring to know what God, the Father, is looking for in a true worshiper. You may be leading crowds or just the person beside you into worship; you, too, can choose to become an effective worship leader!

Worship That Pleases God by Stephen R. Phifer Pdf

Worship That Pleases God: The Passion and Reason of True Worship is a comprehensive book ranging far beyond the sanctuary to the private altar, to the heart of the worshiper and even to the workplace. Whole-life worship is the kind that pleases God. "...let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praiseÉAnd do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased (Hebrews 13:15, 16 NIV). A worship leader for more than thirty years, Dr. Phifer, brings a passionate writing style and sound biblical interpretation to this search for the meaning of "spirit and truth" worship (John 4:24). Dr. Phifer believes that True Worship establishes the Kingdom of God in our hearts, our homes, our places of worship as well as in the workplace and the marketplace. This book is about much more than what happens on Sunday morning. "Righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit," the three characteristics of the Kingdom of God found in Romans 14:17, form the themes of each section of the book. Section One, Righteousness, deals with a biblical theology of worship. Dr. Phifer offers biblical definitions for the essential elements of worship and he presents seven biblical models for worship. Section Two, Peace, presents the priority of worship as the factor of church life that is intended to bind generations and cultures together in a bond of peace. Section Three, Joy, treats the daily life of the believer dealing with issues of craftsmanship, creativity and the spiritual warfare of private worship. Paul urged the Roman church to "...present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service (of worship)" (Rom 12:1 NKJV [NIV]). Worship That Pleases God is a passionate book presenting that reasonable service of worship to God. HR ALIGN=LEFT

The Daniel Dilemma Bible Study Guide by Chris Hodges Pdf

As Christians, we have real hope in Jesus that we have been called to share with others. But how we share that hope makes a difference. In a world that rejects everything we believe, we face a dilemma: how do we walk closely with God without caving in to pressure or alienating those we want to reach? In this six-session video Bible study, Chris Hodges looks at the lives of both Daniel and Jesus, showing how we can stand for our biblical beliefs without being hostile or insulting to others. We can stand up for God's truth in a morally corrupt culture–while still loving others–because the goal is never about winning the argument but about winning hearts. As Jesus demonstrated, when we connect with others before we correct them, we can handle the hard questions without compromising God's grace or truth. Chris offers fresh insights and practical ideas to encourage Christians struggling with their cultural reality to hold God's standards high and to keep his grace deep–just as Jesus did, and just as his followers today are called to do. The Daniel Dilemma Study Guide includes video discussion questions, Bible exploration, and personal study and reflection materials for in-between sessions. Sessions include: In the World but Not of It Identity Theft You Are What You Worship Who's the Boss? Divided, Distracted, and Disturbed What the World Needs Now Designed for use with the Daniel Dilemma Video Study (sold separately).

The Prophetic Critique of the Priority of the Cult by Theresa V. Lafferty Pdf

When Jesus overturned the carts of the merchants in the temple, he was just the latest in a long line of people who decried the activities that took place there. To understand his actions better, one must go back in history to the eighth century BCE, to the first two prophets to criticize the temple cult: Amos and Isaiah. Their criticism of all worship activities came as a result of the people setting wrong priorities in their lives. What happens in the temple should extend into regular everyday activities in the home, in the market, in business dealings, at work, and at the city gate. Amos and Isaiah present similar oracles that address the prioritization of worship over real life. This book looks closely at their oracles, comparing and contrasting them, and analyzes what they were trying to teach the people.
