Change Your Brainwaves, Change Your Karma by Susanne Matsudo-Kiliani,Yukio Matsudo Pdf

In 2010 Daisaku Ikeda discussed the relationship between religion and science in a dialogue with the Japanese neuroscientist Ken'ichiro Mogi. In this dialogue Ikeda took the firm position that religion and science should not be treated as separate from each other, nor should they remain in a conflict relationship. Instead, they should complement and mutually benefit each other. We would like to follow Ikedas constructive and value-creating approach by presenting in this book our attempt to build a bridge between the wisdom of Nichiren Buddhism and the knowledge of modern science. In our first book of the series Nichiren Buddhism 3.0 we considered Nichiren Buddhist concepts and principles mainly in terms of "energy". In this respect we also measured the positive effects of daimoku on our own body and on our own energy centers (chakras) as well as the energetic effects on our own energy field. We also measured the energy in the room where we were chanting. In this book, Nichiren Buddhism 3.1, we take a closer look at the effects of daimoku in terms of "consciousness". Once again we are dealing with energy, since consciousness can also be regarded as energy because it is related to our brain activity, which can be measured in the form of vibration and frequency. We will show the results of our brainwave measurements taken whilst chanting daimoku.---In this book, Nichiren Buddhism 3.1, the authors take a closer look at the effects of daimoku in terms of consciousness and how it is related to changing your karma. This mechanism is explained using the Buddhist deep psychology of the subconscious nature of karma. You will learn the results of the brainwave measurements taken whilst chanting daimoku. Find out about the neuroscientific principles of what makes the practice of daimoku so powerful, including new research into brain synchronization, and how it can affect your wellbeing and success. In Change Your Brainwaves, Change Your Karma you will learn, among other things:* how and why you are always under the strong influence of your individual and family karma, stored in your subconscious mind and even in your body. * how and why daimoku can break through the persistent patterns of your karma in neuroscientific terms.* how and why the positive neuro-physiological effects of daimoku can dramatically improve your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. * how daimoku is linked to your success in life and helps you to achieve your desired goals.Getting answers to these questions enables you to deeply understand the practical meaning of daimoku and to chant with more conviction than ever before. This new approach to your practice of Nichiren Buddhism allows you to open up a new dimension in all areas of your life.

Dictionary of Buddhism by Soka Gakkai Pdf

Anyone reading English translations of Buddhist texts will encounter a host of names, terms, and phrases whose meanings are not clear even though they appear in English. Buddhism is famous for its specialized terminology and translation alone may not communicate its full meaning. East Asian Buddhist diction is layered with several languages -Pali, Sanskrit, Chinese, and Japanese -and the only way to make one's way through this linguistic maze without getting lost is with the aid of a good dictionary. The Soka Gakkai Dictionary of Buddhism, a revised and expanded version of A Dictionary of Buddhist Terms and Concepts (1983), is a welcome addition that serves this purpose. Written clearly for the general reader, the Dictionary contains over 2,700 entries. While it is designed primarily for use with the Soka Gakkai's translations of Nichiren's works, the Dictionary contains a wealth of terms found in all other traditions of Buddhism. Definitions are given for technical terms, historical figures, doctrinal texts, institutions, and place names. The entries provide complete cross-references so that readers may know and further pursue meanings of term equivalents as rendered in other ways or languages. Ten appendixes provide maps and world lists that enable the reader to find terms in English, Pali, Sanskrit, Chinese, or Japanese. Like all Buddhist masters, Nichiren presented his particular message in the wider context of other Buddhist teachings and practices. To know the particular, one must also understand the general context, and the Dictionary, in addressing both levels, provides essential knowledge not only for students of Nichiren Buddhism but for anyone reading Buddhist texts.

Two Buddhas Seated Side by Side by Donald S. Lopez Jr.,Jacqueline I. Stone Pdf

An essential companion to a timeless spiritual classic The Lotus Sūtra is among the most venerated scriptures of Buddhism. Composed in India some two millennia ago, it asserts the potential for all beings to attain supreme enlightenment. Donald Lopez and Jacqueline Stone provide an essential reading companion to this inspiring yet enigmatic masterpiece, explaining how it was understood by its compilers in India and, centuries later in medieval Japan, by one of its most influential proponents. In this illuminating chapter-by-chapter guide, Lopez and Stone show how the sūtra's anonymous authors skillfully reframed the mainstream Buddhist tradition in light of a new vision of the path and the person of the Buddha himself, and examine how the sūtra's metaphors, parables, and other literary devices worked to legitimate that vision. They go on to explore how the Lotus was interpreted by the Japanese Buddhist master Nichiren (1222–1282), whose inspired reading of the book helped to redefine modern Buddhism. In doing so, Lopez and Stone demonstrate how readers of sacred works continually reinterpret them in light of their own unique circumstances. An invaluable guide to an incomparable spiritual classic, this book unlocks the teachings of the Lotus for modern readers while providing insights into the central importance of commentary as the vehicle by which ancient writings are given contemporary meaning.

The Buddha In Daily Life by Richard Causton Pdf

Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism encourages the belief that, through its faith and practices, spiritual and material blessings and benefits can be available to everyone in this life. Needs can be met, and success achieved, not merely for oneself but for others (and the world) through dedication to the Lotus Sutra, a central teaching of Buddhism. It combines these personal objectives with the commitment to world peace, ecology and the easing of suffering, especially, AIDS. Attracting such well known followers as Jeff Banks, Sandie Shaw, Tina Turner and Roberto Baggio, Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism is rooted in a Buddhist tradition going back to the teachings of Nichiren in the 13th century, and is part of an international movement based in Japan.
