Speak, Listen and Learn by Tony Wood Pdf

This indispensable resource, for teachers of pupils aged 7-13 years, consists of a series of graduated lesson plans aimed at improving children’s speaking and listening skills, their self-confidence and their motivation to learn, ultimately leading to better school performance. The scheme was developed and tested in schools during a four year period with over three thousand children and their teachers, and focuses on class and group activities that are enjoyable as well as instructive. All pupils are able to participate regardless of background, academic standing or facility in English, and the skills acquired are central to the National Curriculum for England and Wales Key Stages 2 and 3. Each lesson worksheet includes learning objectives, guidance on preparation and organisation, an activity guide, and follow-up suggestions, all presented in a clear and simple manner to lead the teacher step by step through the session. The materials are grouped into four levels of difficulty which combine to build a powerful range of abilities associated with persuasive and presentational speech, dialogue and debate, as well as developing the children’s command, use, and articulation of English. Each level consists of twelve starter lessons suitable for class-based group work, with sections preparing pupils for a variety of class competitions including public speaking, poetry reading and debating. The activities link naturally with other areas of the curriculum, and topics already being studied can easily be incorporated. In a parallel controlled research project highly significant gains in a nationally standardised test of non-verbal reasoning were made over a seven month period by children who followed the activities for one lesson a week compared to those who did not. These were well in excess of what would be expected for their increased age. Particularly high gains were made by children of lesser ability and those for whom English was an additional language. The improvements recorded were later confirmed by the schools’ own National Curriculum assessments of progress against targets, where on average the project children exceeded substantially the end of year forecasts made by their teachers.

Beauty and the Beastly Wedding by Annemarie Elstner Pdf

The conniving yet quite stupid Queen Holandasia, her even sillier son Prince William, the intelligent and beautiful Princess Clarabella, Snootenville the royal and oh-so-sarcastic butler, and all the strange palace staff of Grottenville return in this second Grottenville book. Prince William and Princess Clarabella are officially engaged. The palace of Grottenville is in a buzz and a flurry, what with all the wedding plans and preparations. Queen Holandasia is insistent on a Hawaiian menu, tomato red drapes, and a pineapple wedding cake! Princess Clarabella is secretly wishing that her future mother-in-law would just disappear. To add to the buzz and flurry, Princess Clarabellas parents King Engelbert and Queen Bertha arrive at the door of Grottenville palace. Snootenville the butler is his usual sarcastic self but is secretly quite excited about the pending union, as the princess comes from a very wealthy kingdom, and this could mean great benefits to all the staff. Grottenville is still in severe economic decline, and a marriage between poor Prince William and rich Princess Clarabella will definitely fix all of that. Everyone is dreaming of new velvet drapes, soft cuddly slippers, and pots of steaming hot tea! But what strange illness has suddenly befallen Queen Holandasia? What are the strange eerie cries echoing down the dark dismal passages of Grottenville palace? Is the upcoming wedding cursed by some strange evil lurking in the palace hallways? Lots of surprises and snorts, hiccups and howls, and lies and laughter fill the pages of Beauty and the Beastly Wedding. Have fun with the delightful, quirky, and sometimes absolutely awful Grottenville royalty; servants; and, of course, our new arrivals, the not-so-easily convinced King Engelbert and his very trusting, loving wife Queen Bertha with her purple hair and excellent massage techniques. And like all good stories, learn a moral or two and even some brilliant handy hints! A very entertaining read for young and old alike. Enjoy!

The Year of the Queen’S Diamond Jubilee by Christopher Chadwick Pdf

Christopher Chadwick is not one of the best known and biggest selling authors or writers of all time; he hasnt produced any best sellers on romantic twists and turns nor stand alone thrillers, what he is ; Christopher is passionate and enthusiastic about encouraging all children to read.. to love reading in their own language and that of others. He has tried to create a book that is dedicated to young people .. young readers...and to their parents and care givers...a book with an enchanting, fun story of everyday life turned upside down.. a book which can stand alone on the book shelf and be read any time or more importantly be one that is taken down and read as a good book at bed time... a book to send young people to sleep!. Interview with Christopher Christopher was asked; Where did the idea for this book at bedtime come from? He replied; I have always loved reading the story The Tiger who came to tea to my own children and those in my care. I read the story one day early this year to a class of four year olds and it struck me what if it was another animal, person, creature, who came to tea who just dropped in ...how we would feel. So my mind was buzzing and as I had seen on the TV and read about all the plans for the year 2012 for the Queens Jubilee I THOUGHT WOW...what if the most important and influential person in the UK was invited to tea; what if.. How would I... what would happen... what changes...what repercussion....my pen started to fly across the page...... What is this amazing story about ;Its about an ordinary little girl called Lillibet, a reluctant reader who out of the blue gets invited to meet the Queen of England in her own home; it describes her adventure of making plans with her mum, paving the way at school with her classmates and all their questions ...dealing with security... communicating to the Queen and her office...and a secret is revealed. Lillibet tries to remain calm and help her mum to get ready for the big day but will it all work out as planned... What about that naughty cat next door could he upset the queens dogs and where should she put the Queens horses!!! Christopher Chadwick is Head teacher of an International Primary School in Hong Kong.
