The Power of Evolved Leadership: Inspire Top Performance by Fostering Inclusive Teams by Stephen Young Pdf

Do you want to lead like a business professional—or a Neanderthal? This book breaks our millennia-old leadership mold to provide the skills for real, lasting success in today’s business world For too long, humans have been following others based largely on that person’s sense of physical strength, appearance and dominance. It’s a model that dates back to the Neanderthals and which, incredibly, we continue to apply—consciously or not. The Power of Evolved Leadership establishes a new standard for leadership. It shifts you away from a leadership profile of power, command, and control to move your toward the nuance of motivation, inspiration, and, most critically, the shedding of ‘ego.’ The author bases his perspective and methods on close studies and personal interviews of many of today’s most successful leaders.

Psychology Serving Humanity: Proceedings of the 30th International Congress of Psychology by Saths Cooper,Kopano Ratele Pdf

This is the first of two volumes collecting the key proceedings of the 30th International Congress of Psychology, the first to be held in Africa in the 123 years of its history. The theme of the conference was "Psychology Serving Humanity", a recognition of psychology's unfulfilled mission in the majority world and a reflection of what that world requires from psychology. Mainstream Psychology finds its largest number of exponents and leading personalities in the high income countries of the global West. The Other Psychologies, referred to by different names, are scattered across the rest of the world. Some of the names of these other forms of Psychology include indigenous Psychology. The main driver of indigenous and other forms of non-mainstream Psychology is the endeavour to embed the discipline in the dynamics of local societies. Psychology has entered an interesting era, however. While the dominant philosophy underpinning the discipline remains Western, Psychology in the majority world in 2000s may have reached a tipping point. It took over a hundred years but the 2004 and 2012 International Congresses of Psychology held in China and South Africa heralded a newfound possibility for the discipline. There is an opening of the field to potentially new thought and forms of the practice of Psychology. These proceedings are published in the hope that all psychologists, especially those located in well-resourced institutions in the West, confront the divided reality that characterizes Psychology so as to creatively consider the opportunity opened up by the growing field at the peripheries. Care was taken when assembling both conference and proceedings to ensure that the entire international psychological community was represented. Volume One contains contributions to Majority World Psychology. Volume Two contains contributions to Western Psychology.

Re-Evolution of the Fragile Ego by Lorrie James Del Bel Pdf

In the midst of an innocent conversation with his neighbor, author Lorrie Del Bels life was forever changed. His neighbor was unsure about leaving his labor job to become a supervisor. He felt himself incapable of bossing people around and disciplining them for not doing their job. He confessed these feelings as though he was afflicted with a fatal disease or shameful deformity. But the remarks sent Lorrie on a journey of self-reflection, examining his own life, purpose, the type of leader he was and what drove him to succeed. He began to understand that the essence of leadership was not based upon what is achieved, but rather on the condition of a persons ego and their intentions as a result. Join Lorrie on his journey of self-discovery as he explores the poison of pessimism and the underlying root cause. Growing to acknowledge weaknesses and finding strength in doing so. Follow the course he lays out; the principle cornerstones for the re-evolution of the fragile ego, then the functional cornerstones necessary to lead others successfully. Lorrie shares his journey for others to use as a guide, in discovering their true self and purpose, and become fulfilled.

Optimizing the Self by Ole Jacob Madsen Pdf

This book provides an analysis of the social representations of leading self-help genres, including neurolinguistic programming, cognitive self-help therapy, mindfulness, self-management, self-esteem, self-leadership and self-control. Exploring the globalised therapeutic culture of today, the book argues that psychology as ‘science’ is often abandoned to aid the individual pursuit for self-realization and self-optimization. Opposing the view that self-help culture is external to psychology, Madsen argues that it is firmly embedded within psychology, playing an important role in people’s lives. Each chapter traces and critically interprets a range of self-help philosophies and techniques, examining the claims of self-help literature to represent the most innovative psychological, medical or neurobiological research. Discussing each genre in turn, chapters examine key research alongside self-help literature to explore the effectiveness and impact of leading self-help genres in various social contexts and environments. The book offers a contemporary critical overview of issues concerning self-help, combining critical psychology with the theory of social representation to provide a broad perspective on self-help as a valid psychology. Optimizing the Self will be of interest to academics, researchers and postgraduate students in the fields of social representation, critical and cultural psychology and theory, clinical psychology, and the sociology of culture and science. The book will also be of use to critical and cultural psychologists and theorists, as well as clinical psychologists.

Evolve by Graeme Findlay Pdf

We see patterns of leadership throughout human history. Prehistoric leaders who, just as leaders do today, used power and influence to create co-operation amongst their group, have all played their part in our surviving, thriving and evolving as a species. Of course, leadership is infinitely more complex in the modern world, comprising of global teams, large anonymous networks and communications technology. But have our brains evolved as quickly as our societies? In this fascinating, enlightening and useful book, leadership development coach and change agent Graeme Findlay walks you through the evolutionary basis for the dramatic increases in leadership power from pre-history through to today. He explains how the brain function that made our primate ancestors successful still exists within us, and how this "inner primate" can sabotage your leadership effectiveness. He then proceeds to outline effective strategies for transcending this "inner voice" to empower your leadership. In the same way, he shows how you can tap into the motivations of the inner primate within members of your extended team, to better understand dynamics, and transform your leadership impact. With the inner primate dealt with, he moves on to explore the next two major evolutionary steps, personified as the gossip and the dreamer. Drawing from a wide variety of case studies, including Donald Trump, Kim Jong-Un, and Martin Luther King, as well as the author's own consulting experiences, this book consistently shows you how to apply evolutionary leadership theory to your own practice, to become a more aware, mindful, impactful, and successful leader.
