The Spirit-Led Leader by Timothy C. Geoffrion Pdf

In our postmodern, experience-oriented culture, people are longing for greater authenticity, integrity, and depth in their pastors and leaders. Board directors, church members, and staff alike are all eagerly seeking leaders who effectively integrate their spirituality and leadership. Pastors and executives, however, often struggle with knowing how to integrate their spiritual values and practices into their leadership and management roles. Designed for pastors, executives, administrators, managers, coordinators, and all who see themselves as leaders and who want to fulfill their God-given purpose, The Spirit-Led Leader addresses the critical fusion of spiritual life and leadership for those who not only want to see results, but who also desire to care just as deeply about who they are and how they lead as they do about what they produce and accomplish. Geoffrion creates a new vision for spiritual leadership as partly an art, partly a result of careful planning, and always a working of the grace of God

Self-Help in Mental Health by T. Mark Harwood,Luciano L'Abate Pdf

Self-help is big business, but alas not a scienti c business. The estimated 10 billion—that’s with a “b”—spent each year on self-help in the United States is rarely guided by research or monitored by mental health professionals. Instead, marketing and metaphysics triumph. The more outrageous the “miraculous cure” and the “r- olutionary secret,” the better the sales. Of the 3,000 plus self-help books published each year, only a dozen contain controlled research documenting their effectiveness as stand-alone self-help. Of the 20,000 plus psychological and relationship web sites available on the Internet, only a couple hundred meet professional standards for accuracy and balance. Most, in fact, sell a commercial product. Pity the layperson, or for that matter, the practitioner, trying to navigate the self-help morass. We are bombarded with thousands of potential resources and c- tradictory advice. Should we seek wisdom in a self-help book, an online site, a 12-step group, an engaging autobiography, a treatment manual, an inspiring movie, or distance writing? Should we just do it, or just say no? Work toward change or accept what is? Love your inner child or grow out of your Peter Pan? I become confused and discouraged just contemplating the choices.

Agape: What Is It? by John Marcus Pdf

In a world full of hopelessness and despair, there is one thing that people need more than ever: love. Within the core of every human being, there is a longing to feel and to truly know what love is. Many think that love is based on subjective emotions and feelings; however, nothing could be further from the truth. The objective truth of what it really means to love goes far beyond any emotion or feeling. The truth is that we must choose to love rather than feel it. When this is achieved, the love of Christ is made clear in a profound and powerful way. John 15:13 says, 'Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.' This simple verse carries incredible depth as author John Marcus helps readers discover the love it takes to make a complete self-sacrifice in Agape: What is it? This convicting study provokes deeper biblical understanding of what it means to be a mature Christian and to grow with agape love. Christians will be challenged to think about what they define as 'love' as John gives insight from his own testimony to help readers to love sacrificially. Topics covered include: overcoming with longsuffering, casting out fear, being able to cover the sins of others, and loving in truth. Learn how to apply these solid principles in everyday life. Start the adventure of growing in the love of Jesus Christ and sharing it with the world. Marriages, friendships, families, and so many more can be transformed by this love. Discover how in Agape: What is it? Author John Marcus has grasped what it means to love with agape love after growing up in a home full of selfishness, pride, and substances abuse.

Man Know Thy Self by Collin M. Woodley Pdf

I wrote Man Know Thy Self through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit who guides, leads, and teaches me the things of God. Man Know Thy Self teaches you who you are and how you operate. We are created in the image and likeness of God and we’re falling way short of the mark. Jesus came to show us the way and it’s essential we follow because he is the way the only way. Man know thy self shows you how to rightly divide the word of truth, it’s the truth that sets you free. It teaches you who you are in Christ Jesus, and that you need to be born-again, and fi lled with the Holy Spirit. In these last days if we are planning to keep our salvation we must know that it is imperative to know, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Thank you!

God as Love by Johannes M. Oravecz Pdf

Nineteenth- and twentieth-century Russian religious intellectuals devoted a great deal of attention to the concept of agape, or Divine Love, arguing that the Christian church is a reflection of the triune, self-sacrificing God and his love for all of creation. On account of their deliberations, these intellectuals played a key role in mediating between the Orthodox Church and modern society. Their quest for dialogue between the 'mystery of the sacred' and the 'ordinary of everyday life' remains relevant for Western societies today. In God as Love Johannes Oravecz presents a comprehensive summation of twenty-five prominent Russian religious thinkers and their thought on the concept of agape, showing in detail how they broke new ground in their various affirmations of the truth that God is love. No other book in any language treats this topic with such breadth and depth.

MAKE ROOM IN YOUR HEART FOR TRUE DIVINE LOVE by Kalisha N. Stansell Pdf

My personal journey of love and relationships taught me some pretty hard lessons in love, in which some of them I share with you in this book. Through these lessons I have learned that all relationships have come to teach you a lesson in love and the first lesson is to love ourselves. I used to depend on others for true love and happiness. This is until I learned that relationships are solely meant to add to the love and happiness you already have. After I discovered this, I began to look within to heal the little girl within who didn’t feel loved. And who was also looking for love in all the wrong places. In this book, I take you through a journey of healing, letting go and releasing all that no longer serves you through the freedom power of forgiveness; so you may have room in your heart to receive true divine love! I hope you will find the information contained in this book useful to assist you on your healing journey.

Renovation of the Heart by Dallas Willard Pdf

As Christians, we know that we are new creations in Jesus. So we try to act differently, hoping this will make us more like Him. But changing our outward behavior doesn’t change our hearts. Only by God’s grace can we be transformed internally. Renovation of the Heart lays a biblical foundation for understanding what best-selling author Dallas Willard calls the “transformation of the spirit”—a divine process that “brings every element in our being, working from inside out, into harmony with the will of God.” This fresh approach to spiritual growth explains the biblical reasons why Christians need to undergo change in six aspects of life: thought, feeling, will, body, social context, and soul. Willard also outlines a general pattern of transformation in each area, not as a sterile formula but as a practical process that you can follow without the guilt or perfectionism so many Christians wrestle with. Don’t settle for complacency. Accept the challenge Renovation of the Heart offers to become an intentional apprentice of Jesus Christ, changing daily as you walk with Him.

The Lutheran Theology of the Holy Spirit by Fred Perry Hall Pdf

Questions about Lutherans and the Holy Spirit? This book probes Lutheranism from Luther to the Formula of Concord (1517–1577) and presents a striking consistency regarding the Holy Spirit among Lutheran Reformers. The Holy Spirit dominated Luther’s writing, not only in theology, but in all aspects of living out God’s will. Six of the theologians researched in this book were also pastors dealing with enormous challenges from government interference, war, religious disputes, and, as Luther declared, “The rage of the devil.” The solution was not brilliant arguments or “best practices.” The solution to a Christian’s guilty conscience or lukewarm faith was not trying harder or doing good works. Rather, it was to confess failure, to eliminate self-dependence, and to cry out to the Holy Spirit, who alone is totally sufficient in every situation. Theologians, pastors, missionaries, Sunday-school teachers, workers and retirees, moms and dads, students and kids—everyone—is powerless to accomplish anything in the kingdom of God. Only the Holy Spirit is able to change hearts and meet needs. He graciously responds to all who call. Yes, the work of the Holy Spirit and his power is Lutheran, for Luther in the sixteenth century and for Lutherans today.

Freedom All The Way Up by Christian J. Barrigar Pdf

Freedom All The Way Up proposes four intertwined elements that make up the meaning of life—self-worth, purpose, identity, and hope. Materialism (atheism) claim the universe has no meaning, so there is no larger purposeful story into which we can place ourselves—we are left on our own to construct meaning for our lives. Barrigar argues, though, that the universe possess God’s meaning and purpose—to provide the space and conditions by which to bring about the existence of agape-capable beings in agape-loving relationships with God and with others. In effect, the universe is a great ‘freedom system’ designed by God with freedom built in ‘all the way up’, from the Big Bang to the emergence of big brains and free will. Barrigar describes the emergence of this system through his novel agape/probability account of God’s design for the universe, which integrates such disciplines as quantum physics, statistical mechanics, probability theory, evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, and game theory. This system sets up the conditions for a fundamental choice between autonomous freedom, which focuses principally on self, and agapic freedom, which focuses principally on God and on others. Materialism chooses autonomous freedom, but thereby introduces nihilism into each of the elements of meaning. In turns out that nihilism is a much greater problem for Materialism than suffering is for Theism. In contrast, agapic freedom infuses self-worth, purpose, identity, and hope with God’s agape-love, dispelling Materialism’s inherent nihilism. Freedom All The Way Up provides a dramatic new proposal for God and the meaning of life in our scientific and humanist age.

Open Letter From Nobel Peace Prize Laureates and Citizens of the World Against War and Nuclear Weapons: We reject war and nuclear weapons. We call on all our fellow citizens of the world to join us in protecting our planet, home for all of us, from those who threaten to destroy it. The invasion of Ukraine has created a humanitarian disaster for its people. The entire world is facing the greatest threat in history: a large-scale nuclear war, capable of destroying our civilization and causing vast ecological damage across the Earth. We call for an immediate ceasefire and the withdrawal of all Russian military forces from Ukraine, and for all possible efforts at dialogue to prevent this ultimate disaster. We call on Russia and NATO to explicitly renounce any use of nuclear weapons in this conflict, and we call on all countries to support the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons to ensure that we never again face a similar moment of nuclear danger. The time to ban and eliminate nuclear weapons is now. It is the only way to guarantee that the inhabitants of the planet will be safe from this existential threat. It is either the end of nuclear weapons, or the end of us. We reject governance through imposition and threats, and we advocate for dialogue, coexistence and justice. A world without nuclear weapons is necessary and possible, and together we will build it. It is urgent that we give peace a chance.
