In 1969 and 1970 TVA again surveyed the Tennessee River waterfront industries and obtained information on 1968 investment, employment, and traffic movements. The dynamic nature of waterfront industry is shown by the survey responses. There were 26 new establishments included in the 1969 survey, some occupying new waterfront sites and some on sites formerly occupied by other establishments The establishments which were included in the 1962 survey but not in 1969 numbered 54. Among the reasons for this change are corporate mergers and reorganizations, relocations, and cessations of operations. The net result was that in 1969 there were 138 establishments in the survey, 112 of which were included in the 1962 survey.
