The Torque of Fyra by J. S. Seeger Pdf

Many ages ago in a vibrant and pristine world called Laurasia, four gods of great power attempt to dominate one another, breaking an ancient bond that eventually falls to the mortal realm. A quest to pursue the four talismans, including the Torque of Fyra, ensues, hurling the realms into chaos. As treachery and war echoes through the ages, the turmoil finally becomes a faint murmur. But to some, the quest for the truth still remains an obsession. Three hundred years later, Jarok, a young adventurer, and his companion, Vadera, embark on a long and dangerous journey through Laurasia's forests and caves to Potis Tower to deliver a piece of amber to a powerful wizard. The enormity of his responsibility weighs heavy on Jarok--the future of his homeland, the Kingdom of Kernia, may depend on his success. Unfortunately, Jarok's homeland is about to fall under the shadow of a wicked necromancer. In this fantasy tale of good versus evil, Jarok and Vadera learn the fate of the realm lies in their hands. And the only resolution is inconceivable.

Viking Silver, Hoards and Containers by Jacek Gruszczyński Pdf

It is widely accepted that the Viking Age (c. 800–1050) stimulated the development of long-distance, regional and local trade and exchange networks. The clearest archaeological evidence for these contacts is mainly in the form of silver artefacts predominantly found in hoards in Northern and Central Europe – the Baltic zone. However, beyond occasional national- or regional-level research, there have been no attempts at a historically guided comparative archaeological survey of the Baltic zone as a whole. By investigating silver hoards and the context of their deposition, Viking Silver, Hoards and Containers seeks to understand the variety of functions performed by hoards; the differences in function within regions; the hoards’ relationship with trade; and the nature and function of emporia. It also examines the extent to which the findings mesh with literary evidence and the nature of the different societies benefiting from the influx of silver in the Viking Age. Crucially, the book features a catalogue, which provides a thorough overview and update of Baltic-zone hoards. Viking Silver, Hoards and Containers is intended for use by students of, and specialists in, early medieval, Viking and Slavic history and archaeology. However, it will also be a useful teaching resource for other general courses in archaeology, anthropology and material culture, numismatics, economic history, religious studies, GIS and statistics.

Mobile Working Hydraulic System Dynamics by Mikael Axin Pdf

This thesis deals with innovative working hydraulic systems for mobile machines. Flow control systems are studied as an alternative to load sensing. The fundamental difference is that the pump is controlled based on the operator’s command signals rather than feedback signals from the loads. This control approach enables higher energy efficiency and there is no load pressure feedback causing stability issues. Experimental results show a reduced pump pressure margin and energy saving potential for a wheel loader application. The damping contribution from the inlet and outlet orifice in directional valves is studied. Design rules are developed and verified by experiments. A novel system architecture is proposed where flow control, load sensing and open-centre are merged into a generalized system description. The proposed system is configurable and the operator can realize the characteristics of any of the standard systems without compromising energy efficiency. This can be done non-discretely on-the-fly. Experiments show that it is possible to avoid unnecessary energy losses while improving system response and increasing stability margins compared to load sensing. Static and dynamic differences between different control modes are also demonstrated experimentally.
