The Word of the Lord Came to the Prophets by Rev. Harold E. Petersen Pdf

The Bible, the Word of God, has been a part of my life. We had family devotions mornings and evenings, Sunday school, and worship services. These continued to draw me into the Word. When I was in high school, I started to read the Bible through in a year, which I have continued down to the present times. It was when I was in the seminary that I was inspired to mark a special verse in every chapter of the Bible. Some chapters were so full of gems of truth that I chose several. The prophets are a source of amazing truth about life and our relationship with the Lord God. The prophets have influenced my life in many ways. Isaiah is full of good news. Jeremiah speaks volumes about how I live. Ezekiel draws me into the drama of faithfulness. The other prophets have enriched me in many ways.

(John 1:45) In the Old Testament, God spoke to his people through prophets—men specially called to speak God's Word to his people. Hearing Voices, Demonic and Divine by Christopher C. H. Cook Pdf

Experiences of hearing the voice of God (or angels, demons, or other spiritual beings) have generally been understood either as religious experiences or else as a feature of mental illness. Some critics of traditional religious faith have dismissed the visions and voices attributed to biblical characters and saints as evidence of mental disorder. However, it is now known that many ordinary people, with no other evidence of mental disorder, also hear voices and that these voices not infrequently include spiritual or religious content. Psychological and interdisciplinary research has shed a revealing light on these experiences in recent years, so that we now know much more about the phenomenon of "hearing voices" than ever before. The present work considers biblical, historical, and scientific accounts of spiritual and mystical experiences of voice hearing in the Christian tradition in order to explore how some voices may be understood theologically as revelatory. It is proposed that in the incarnation, Christian faith finds both an understanding of what it is to be fully human (a theological anthropology), and God’s perfect self-disclosure (revelation). Within such an understanding, revelatory voices represent a key point of interpersonal encounter between human beings and God.

Gospelbound by Collin Hansen,Sarah Eekhoff Zylstra Pdf

A profound exploration of how to hold on to hope when our unchanging faith collides with a changing culture, from two respected Christian storytellers and thought leaders. “Offers neither spin control nor image maintenance for the evangelical tribe, but genuine hope.”—Russell Moore, president of ERLC As the pressures of health warnings, economic turmoil, and partisan politics continue to rise, the influence of gospel-focused Christians seems to be waning. In the public square and popular opinion, we are losing our voice right when it’s needed most for Christ’s glory and the common good. But there’s another story unfolding too—if you know where to look. In Gospelbound, Collin Hansen and Sarah Eekhoff Zylstra counter these growing fears with a robust message of resolute hope for anyone hungry for good news. Join them in exploring profound stories of Christians who are quietly changing the world in the name of Jesus—from the wild world of digital media to the stories of ancient saints and unsung contemporary activists on the frontiers of justice and mercy. Discover how, in these dark times, the light of Jesus shines even brighter. You haven’t heard the whole story. And that’s good news.

Office of the Prophet by Janice E. Wagner Pdf

This study came about from a teaching on the manifestation gifts of the Holy Spirit the author prepared for the altar workers at The People’s Church of Santa Fe in New Mexico. That teaching has been incorporated into this study. During the discussion on the manifestation gift of prophecy, it was stated that operating through the gift of prophecy does not make someone a prophet. The question arose, “what is the difference between the gift of prophecy and the office of the prophet?” That was when this study was born. This book includes scriptural teaching on the office of the prophet which is one of the five-fold ministry gifts or offices. The book teaches how one knows he has been called to be a prophet. It discusses the manifestation gifts of the Holy Spirit as tools used by prophets to accomplish what the Lord has assigned them to say and do. There are also examples of how the Holy Spirit has operated in the life of the author over her 40 plus years of serving the Lord as a prophet of God.

Jesus Christ, the Everlasting Prophet by Dave Engelbrecht Pdf

The Word of God is as infinite as God and the Holy Spirit Himself, written by Holy Men, inspired by the Holy Ghost of God, therefore anyone even imagine interpreting it only in the physical dimension, will find numerous of controversies within. It is of utmost importance that the interpreter of the Word also abides in the Spiritual dimension not defiling him with the worldly desires all included. The office of prophets was both to bless and to prophesy in the name of the Lord. As it is written in 2Pet_1:20,21. Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. In these words the apostle lays down another argument to prove the truth and reality of the gospel, and intimates that this second proof is more strong and convincing than the former, and more unanswerable makes out that the doctrine of the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ is not a mere fable or cunning contrivance of men, but the wise and wonderful counsel of the holy and gracious God. For this is foretold by the prophets and penmen of the Old Testament, who spoke and wrote under the influence and according to the direction of the Spirit of God. The description that is given of the scriptures of the Old Testament: they are called a more sure word of prophecy. 1. It is a prophetical declaration of the power and coming, the Godhead and incarnation, of our Saviour, which we have in the Old Testament. It is there foretold that the seed of the woman shall bruise the serpent's head. His power to destroy the devil and his works, and his being made of a woman, are there foretold; and the great and awful Old Testament name of God, Jehovah (as read by some), signifies only He will be; and that name of God (Ex_3:14) is rendered by many, I will be that I will be; and, thus understood, they point at God's being incarnate in order to the redemption and salvation of his people as what was to come. But the New Testament is a history of that whereof the Old Testament is a prophecy. All the prophets and the law prophesied until John, Mat_11:13. And the evangelists and the apostles have written the history of what was before delivered as prophecy. Now the accomplishment of the Old Testament by the New, and the agreeableness of the New Testament to the Old, are a full demonstration of the truth of both. The first controversy occurs at the raising of the PROPHET called That Prophet. As written in Deu.18:18. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. Let us look at a few words in the text above: 1 The Word "Prophet" begins with a Capital "P" indicating an Entity. 2 This Prophet will come among his brothers. 3 God will put His words in the mouth of this Prophet, delivering the message to the people. When one is looking for a prophet in the flesh, one who marries, bearing an offspring one will find many dissimilarities between Moses and Jesus Christ. However when one look s for a prophet in the spirit, the actual plan of God in action, one will find some similarities between Moses and Jesus Christ. The spiritual implication was all about the freedom from bondage and captivity for the Israeli nation from where Jesus Christ should derive.
