Chasing Lines: My WORLD RECORD pursuit cycling unsupported across Europe 6292km, 9 countries, two wheels, one man by James McLaren Pdf

When James McLaren saw a shiny blue bike at age thirteen, it was love at first sight. Two years after buying it, he cycled two hundred miles from Canterbury to Portsmouth along the southeast coast of England. He enjoyed riding somewhere he'd never been before, and even though there was a lot of rain, it was great fun. As the years went by, there would be other bikes, lots of roads traveled, and numerous injuries, but one thing stayed the same: McLaren loved to ride. Fast forward to 2016, and McLaren sought to do the unthinkable: cycling from Ufa, Russia, to Cabo Da Roca, Portugal, without a sponsor in a bid to set a Guinness World Record. In Chasing Lines, he recalls his journey, weaving in stories about other cycling adventures and how the sport has taught him valuable lessons about the importance of moving forward-no matter what. Join an amateur cyclist as he quits his job and chases a dream across nine countries, from the Ural Mountains of Russia to the coast of Portugal.

Analysis Within the Systems Development Life-Cycle by Rosemary Rock-Evans Pdf

Analysis within the Systems Development Life-Cycle: Book 2, Data Analysis—The Methods describes the methods for carrying out data analysis within the systems development life-cycle and demonstrates how the results of fact gathering can be used to produce and verify the analysis deliverables. A number of alternative methods of analysis other than normalization are suggested. Comprised of seven chapters, this book shows the tasks to be carried out in the logical order of progression—preparation, collection, analysis of the existing system (which comprises the tasks of synthesis, verification, and approval)—and in each case how the input from the previous task is converted to the output for the next task until the final output—the verified approved deliverables—is obtained. The first chapter puts analysis into its place in the Systems Development Cycle (SDC) and explains what analysis really means. The next chapters cover, in logical sequence of dependency, the actual tasks of data analysis. The advantages and disadvantages of each method are described in the context of the life-cycle as a whole and in terms of the reliability of raw input, time problems, and so on. Each of the data models obtained using the different methods can be combined and subsequently refined using a number of step-by-step checks. The final chapter shows how the meta-model can be expanded by considering the intermediate outputs of the tasks of data analysis. This text will be of interest to systems analysts and designers and those who are involved in expert systems.

For Those Who Can't by Brendan Walsh Pdf

A NEW WORLD RECORD FOR MENTAL HEALTH. On September 30th, 2019, I left on a journey down the Atlantic Coast of the United States. From Madawaska, Maine, on the border of Canada to the southernmost point Key West, Florida, I rode for 11 days, 9 hours, and 33 minutes, covering 2,288 miles and set a new Guinness World Record for the Fastest Crossing of America by Bicycle (North to South). A month before the original start date I was hit by a car, totaling my bike and leaving me with a long list of injuries including a torn meniscus and concussion. While cycling 17+ hours a day my epic adventure had me facing extreme weather, multiple attempted robberies and dark suppressed memories. This story tells of massive triumphs in both body and mind, all for a very important cause: The National Alliance on Mental Illness. I've lost multiple friends to the terrible disease called depression, all while being anxiety ridden and suffering with it myself. Through endurance sports like cycling, I have found a better version of myself. This is my attempt to give back to the ultra-endurance community I have gained so much from. My hope is to inspire others to ride, run, swim, ski, and hike their ways to a clearer, happier life. You are not alone in life's journey!

The Man who Cycled the World by Mark Beaumont Pdf

On 15 February 2008, Mark Beaumont pedalled through the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. 194 days and 17 hours previously, he had set off from Paris in an attempt to circumnavigate the world in record time. Mark smashed the Guinness World Record by an astonishing 81 days. He had travelled more than 18,000 miles on his own through some of the harshest conditions one man and his bicycle can endure, camping wild at night and suffering from constant ailments. The Man Who Cycled the World is the story not just of that amazing achievement, but of the events that turned Mark Beaumont into the man he is today. From the early years of his free-spirited childhood in the Scottish countryside, he had been determined to break records, cycling across Scotland and then from John O'Groats to Land's End by the age of fifteen, raising thousands of pounds for charity. After leaving university, he had been equally determined not to settle for an average existence, but to break free and see the world from a saddle, to follow his dreams. This is the tale not just of one of the last great circumnavigation world records, and of the incredible endurance it took to accomplish it, but an insight into many of the the world's cultures from a unique perspective. From Paris to Istanbul, through Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India and south-east Asia to Singapore, then across Australia, New Zealand and the United States before the final legs in Europe, all at hundred miles a day, this is the story of a quite remarkable adventure, by a quite remarkable man.
