They Remained Unknown by Savitry Dubey , Translated by Rajeev Dubey Pdf

They Remained Unknown - Krena ji came to meet me on the morning of 9th August. "I am sorry. Sister, Suresh babu was arrested early this morning in Munger. I got this information on the phone from my nephew, who is a clerk in the Post Office. "The government agencies have full information on Suresh babu's organization and its ability to harm the British Government. They are worried that the movement may take a violent turn. But jailing our leaders has only increased the enthusiasm and determination of the youth to launch the final assault. We have to bring the government machinery to a grinding halt." "Uproot railway lines to disrupt rail movement, cut telephone and telegraph lines to disrupt communication channels, put obstacles in every possible way to disrupt the functioning of the administration, refrain from going to work-this is the meaning of 'Do or Die', for the police is bound to open fire and throw thousands into jail. Ordinary people will be mercilessly beaten to spread fear among the protestors, limbs broken...the government will retaliate brutally. But we will not be afraid, we will keep moving forward." "The form this will take will be left to local leaders based on their assessment of the situation in their respective territories. It is up to those common men who rise to the occasion and step into the shoes of the arrested leaders, to provide direction and instructions to the rank and file. This war will be fought by Indians of every social strata, of every caste and religion, this is no longer a war to be waged only by the members of the Congress Party. I will finalize my 9 point programme and start distributing pamphlets in town today. Inquilab Zindabad! British leave India! Do or Die!!!"

Asia's Unknown Uprisings Volume 1 by George Katsiaficas Pdf

Using social movements as a prism to illuminate the oft-hidden history of 20th-century Korea, this book provides detailed analysis of major uprisings that have patterned that country’s politics and society. From the 1894 Tonghak Uprising through the March 1, 1919, independence movement and anti-Japanese resistance, a direct line is traced to the popular opposition to U.S. division of Korea after World War Two. The overthrow of Syngman Rhee in 1960, resistance to Park Chung-hee, the 1980 Gwangju Uprising, as well as student, labor, and feminist movements are all recounted with attention to their economic and political contexts. South Korean opposition to neoliberalism is portrayed in detail, as is an analysis of neoliberalism’s rise and effects. With a central focus on the Gwangju Uprising (that ultimately proved decisive in South Korea’s democratization), the author uses Korean experiences as a baseboard to extrapolate into the possibilities of global social movements in the 21st century. Previous English-language sources have emphasized leaders—whether Korean, Japanese, or American. This book emphasizes grassroots crystallization of counter-elite dynamics and notes how the intelligence of ordinary people surpasses that of political and economic leaders holding the reins of power. It is the first volume in a two-part study that concludes by analyzing in rich detail uprisings in nine other places: the Philippines, Burma, Tibet, China, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, and Indonesia. Richly illustrated, with tables, charts, graphs, index, and endnotes.

Diary of a Young Naturalist by Dara McAnulty Pdf

A BuzzFeed "Best Book of June 2021" From sixteen-year-old Dara McAnulty, a globally renowned figure in the youth climate activist movement, comes a memoir about loving the natural world and fighting to save it. Diary of a Young Naturalist chronicles the turning of a year in Dara’s Northern Ireland home patch. Beginning in spring?when “the sparrows dig the moss from the guttering and the air is as puffed out as the robin’s chest?these diary entries about his connection to wildlife and the way he sees the world are vivid, evocative, and moving. As well as Dara’s intense connection to the natural world, Diary of a Young Naturalist captures his perspective as a teenager juggling exams, friendships, and a life of campaigning. We see his close-knit family, the disruptions of moving and changing schools, and the complexities of living with autism. “In writing this book,” writes Dara, “I have experienced challenges but also felt incredible joy, wonder, curiosity and excitement. In sharing this journey my hope is that people of all generations will not only understand autism a little more but also appreciate a child’s eye view on our delicate and changing biosphere.” Winner of the Wainwright Prize for UK nature writing and already sold into more than a dozen territories, Diary of a Young Naturalist is a triumphant debut from an important new voice.

Depending on Strangers by David P Levine Pdf

We live in a world where our livelihood depends on our ability to relate to strangers. The central quality that defines strangers is that they are unknown. Because strangers are unknown, they represent, in the world outside, the unknown self within. The unknown self is the core of the personality considered as a potential to become something yet to be determined. To be already known is to be determined prior to and independently of our presence in our lives. At the outset of the process of taking form, the individual is, in a sense, a stranger to self and to others. The more this is the case, the greater the openness of the process of self-formation and the more marked the role of freedom from predetermination in that process. Freedom from predetermination exists along three dimensions: the free movement of thoughts and ideas or "inner freedom"; the freedom to relate, which is also the freedom not to relate; and freedom in relating, which is the possibility of maintaining secure self-boundaries in relations with others. In exploring freedom understood in this way, Professor Levine considers such topics as: the nature of inner freedom and its relationship to deliberation and choice; stranger anxiety and its connection to group dynamics and social connection; the internal factors that enable us to make the decisions that shape our lives and through our actions realize the ends embedded in our decisions; how our memories shape our thought processes and therefore the choices we make and the lives we lead that result from them; what makes it possible for us to live comfortably with and depend on people we do not know; concern for the welfare of strangers and how our welfare can be secure in a world where we do not care about others and they do not care about us.

DSDM® - Agile Project Management - a (still) unknown alternative full of advantages by Robert M. Richards Pdf

Everyone is talking about agility and praising it as THE approach for successful project management. However, many approaches offer hardly any methods for external steering, budgeting, reporting, controlling. Many only cover the development process and leave it to the users to add further parts as needed. This repeatedly leads to the desire for hybrid project management, which combines agile development with project control and planning. However, most hybrid approaches are patchwork. Different philosophies are cobbled together, some of which contradict each other. DSDM® is different here. The method is completely based on agile approaches, but not only covers production, but also offers project planning, project steering and controlling, risk management and reporting with a goal-oriented role and responsibility management. In this booklet, the book author, himself an expert in DSDM® for many years, offers the reader a good overview of the method and shows why many more companies should get to grips with it.

The Grestest Eras in American History, Described by Famous Writers from Columbus to Wilson, is an editorial work by American journalist and historian Francis W. Halsey. The aim has been to present striking accounts of periods in the history of the United States, from the landing of Columbus to the building of the foundation of the first colonies. In large part, events are described by men who participated in them, or were personal eye-witnesses of them. These accounts are often supplemented by passages from the writings of historians and biographers. First Volume deals with voyages of Discovery and early explorations from around 1000 A.D. to 1682. Second Volume II deals with the planting of the first colonies in the period from 1562 to 1733.

An Environmental History of Medieval Europe by Richard Hoffmann Pdf

How did medieval Europeans use and change their environments, think about the natural world, and try to handle the natural forces affecting their lives? This groundbreaking environmental history examines medieval relationships with the natural world from the perspective of social ecology, viewing human society as a hybrid of the cultural and the natural. Richard Hoffmann's interdisciplinary approach sheds important light on such central topics in medieval history as the decline of Rome, religious doctrine, urbanization and technology, as well as key environmental themes, among them energy use, sustainability, disease and climate change. Revealing the role of natural forces in events previously seen as purely human, the book explores issues including the treatment of animals, the 'tragedy of the commons', agricultural clearances and agrarian economies. By introducing medieval history in the context of social ecology, it brings the natural world into historiography as an agent and object of history itself.
