The Work of the Holy Spirit by S. C. Lowry Pdf

Excerpt from The Work of the Holy Spirit: Thirteen Sermons This book is not a formal treatise; it is simply a collection of Sermons preached on various occasions. They are arranged, however, with some degree of method, and repetition is as far as possible avoided. The importance of the subject, and the comparative paucity of sermons on what has been called "the forgotten truth" are the authors reasons for publishing. Some, it is hoped, may care to read these Sermons who would shrink from studying a more elaborate and exhaustive treatise. Frequent references are made herein to Bible texts, and thus this volume may possibly provide material for Bible readings. In many Churches a course of addresses on the Holy Spirit would form after Easter a useful preparation for Whit Sunday. Many of the ideas and phrases are taken from other writers, but it has been impossible to remember the source in every instance. The author, however, is specially indebted to Mr. Moule's "Veni Creator," Archdeacon Hare's "Mission of the Comforter," and Mr. Gore's essay in "Lux Munch." The first five Sermons were preached as a consecutive series. An Appendix has been added with notes for Bible study, which may be expanded into Addresses. May He, Whose blessed work these pages attempt to illustrate, grant His blessing to the readers, and lead them to a fuller knowledge of all spiritual truth. Up at 3 with God by Opal K. Ferguson Pdf

One night over two years ago, I was awakened out of a sound sleep at 3 A.M. I heard a soft voice speaking to me telling me that I was to write this book for God, and that there would be twelve more after this one. for a total of thirteen Christian books. Needless to say I was speechless! I had known for a long time that I was supposed to write, but I had ran from it, I had wanted to be a fashion designer, not a writer! God finally caught up with me, so here I am! I hope this book is a blessing to all who read it, it is inspirational, but also gives the reader some important things to think about

Paul and the Economy of Salvation by Brendan SJ Byrne Pdf

This major contribution to Pauline scholarship by a widely-respected New Testament scholar is the culmination of over forty years of teaching on Paul. Brendan Byrne demonstrates that topics often discussed in Pauline studies and Christian theology go astray when the significance of the last judgment falls from view. Offering a fresh Catholic perspective that engages with centuries of Protestant interpretation, this book recaptures the significance of the motif of the last judgment for the interpretation of Paul.

The Work of the Holy Spirit by S. C. Lowry Pdf

From the PREFACE. IT is believed that the advance of science has developed fundamental truths which strengthen the hands of faith. To briefly point out some of these is the purpose of this little volume. The well-informed thinker knows that so far as determined by pure reason, the question of the existence of God is one of probability only. It is only by the accumulation of truth that learning comes to the aid of faith and hope. In the contemplation of Nature, "Such is the order, fitness, and beauty, whether in the infinity of space, or in its unlimited division, that even with our little knowledge of things, all language loses its vigor, and all numbers their power of reasoning. Our judgment is lost in speechless eloquent astonishment." By unavoidable convictions of cause, we complete a regression from effect to cause to a Being unconditionally necessary to such a world of life. Yet in this mental process, as in every kind of so-called proof of the existence of God, derived from speculative reason alone, we ascend from definite experience to a highest Cause existing outside of experience; to a conclusion of necessary existence, from given existence; and of course all such reasoning is fallacious and indeterminate. God is thereby disassociated from matter and force, and made a prior existence and a Creator; whereas matter, force, and God are co-existent and co-eternal. The very idea of God as spirit is inseparable from the idea of matter; and without such association He is no more conceivable than is a God without time, or space. This concept of co-existence excludes the idea of the creation of matter, or of force, and presents the universe as an eternal reflection of spirit; matter and force being merely external expressions of Divine Self. Conceding such Divine existence, we concede His knowledge of all the possibilities of His own laws, and of their culmination in organic life and mental power. In short we concede His prevision of man's existence on earth. And unless we regard man as a Divine plaything, the disport of an hour, a creature given being and then expunged from being, we may reasonably conclude, that his earth-life is a prelude to another life upon which he enters with the product of his earth knowledge and of his virtue.

The Modern Version Incursion by Ken Matto Pdf

I wrote The Modern Version Incursion because there is a need in the church for Christians to see plainly that the modern versions of the Bible are counterfeits. God wrote one Bible, not three hundred! The Bible tells us plainly that God's word is forever settled in heaven, as Psalm 119:89 teaches. This means the word of God is established and firm in heaven. The modern versions attack the cardinal doctrines of the Christian faith and especially attack the Lord Jesus Christ. The modern versions are based on the second-century Gnostic beliefs that were prevalent in Alexandria, Egypt. They disbelieved that Jesus was the Son of God and that He was not the incarnation of deity. What is really unhealthy is when the pastor of a church pushes these counterfeits and convinces their congregation that they are the most accurate. I sincerely desire Christians to look at their modern version and then compare it with the King James Bible and ask the question, why is theirs so different? We will look at 747 verses, which should be more than enough to convince even the skeptic. Christians will search out a neighborhood to live in, check out a mutual fund or stock, research a car before they buy; but when it comes to Bibles, they couldn't care less what they use. It shows how Christian commitment is lacking, and the weakness of modern Christianity attests to that fact. If one uses a counterfeit, they will be weak in their walk. Since the 1901 ASV came out, the church has become so weak it needs to be put on life support. When you start making the comparisons in this book, you will see that Christianity has been sold a bill of goods.
