Victory over Autism by Mary Romaniec Pdf

Children are recovering from autism, as are their families. Children are recovering from autism, and yet the general public is largely unaware that this is even possible, let alone happening at astounding rates. While traditional medicine continues to be stymied on the causes and potential remedies, other physicians and proactive parents have partnered to become a progressive force for change. In Victory over Autism, Mary Romaniec takes the reader through the personal stages parents will experience when their child is first diagnosed with autism, and shows how to become part of the next generation of proactive parents who are making a difference in the well-being of their children and families. Romaniec explores the stages of grief associated with the diagnosis, followed by an examination of the winning attributes parents should—and will—possess or adopt as they strive toward the goal of better health and full recovery for their child. Victory over Autism includes personal accounts of overcoming the autism odds, looking out for all family members, and addressing marriage issues, and explores ways of getting the parent into the mind-set that a victory over autism is a realizable goal.

Rainbow Over My House by Sheila Clayton Christie Pdf

When two year old Daniel lay motionless on the floor staring at the ceiling, his mother had no idea that he was exemplifying the first symptoms of what would be diagnosed as autism two years later. The emergency room visit on that June 2002 afternoon resulted in a forty-eight hour hospital stay where Daniel was afterwards discharged with a simple, “rough horseplay” diagnosis. However, within the weeks that followed he lost his speech, hearing, and cognitive skills, eventually slipping into a world of his own. Daniel was born a very healthy, bouncing, bundle of joy. He was an even more active toddler. However, in one moment of time his laughter ceased, the pitterpatter of his little feet racing through the house ended, and his voice that was once heard in family conversations was replaced by ear-piercing screams and whines as he tried to communicate his needs. Convinced that Daniel was misdiagnosed, his mother prayed and began to seek help. Without knowing the giant she was facing, she relentlessly looked for answers and found them. On May 19, 2004, Daniel was diagnosed with autism. But that was not the end of the story! Instead, it was just the beginning! Rainbow Over My House is the amazing story of Daniel’s journey from pain and agony, to triumphant victory over autism! As you read this wonderful story you will laugh, cry tears of joy, and even cheer as it shares details of Daniel’s victory, such as him winning a potato sack race at a picnic! Expect your faith to be ignited as you find the hope and courage to once again believe in miracles!

I Overcame My Autism and All I Got Was This Lousy Anxiety Disorder by Sarah Kurchak Pdf

Sarah Kurchak is autistic. She hasn’t let that get in the way of pursuing her dream to become a writer, or to find love, but she has let it get in the way of being in the same room with someone chewing food loudly, and of cleaning her bathroom sink. In I Overcame My Autism and All I Got Was This Lousy Anxiety Disorder, Kurchak examines the Byzantine steps she took to become “an autistic success story,” how the process almost ruined her life and how she is now trying to recover. Growing up undiagnosed in small-town Ontario in the eighties and nineties, Kurchak realized early that she was somehow different from her peers. She discovered an effective strategy to fend off bullying: she consciously altered nearly everything about herself—from her personality to her body language. She forced herself to wear the denim jeans that felt like being enclosed in a sandpaper iron maiden. Every day, she dragged herself through the door with an elevated pulse and a churning stomach, nearly crumbling under the effort of the performance. By the time she was finally diagnosed with autism at twenty-seven, she struggled with depression and anxiety largely caused by the same strategy she had mastered precisely. She came to wonder, were all those years of intensely pretending to be someone else really worth it? Tackling everything from autism parenting culture to love, sex, alcohol, obsessions and professional pillow fighting, Kurchak’s enlightening memoir challenges stereotypes and preconceptions about autism and considers what might really make the lives of autistic people healthier, happier and more fulfilling.

Noble Victory by Mandeep K. Atwal Pdf

MANDEEP K. ATWAL KNEW FROM A YOUNG AGE SHE WANTED TO FIGHT FOR EQUALITY. Motivated and driven, she pursued a career in law, but even when she was a full-fledged lawyer and everything had gone according to her plans, she still felt like something was missing. She felt that it was time to start a family with her husband, Samir. But little did they know how that decision would take their souls to places they never could have imagined. After multiple complications during the delivery, Mandeep gave birth to her son, JSS. The initial months of motherhood were difficult—and then, everything changed when Mandeep and Samir discovered their son had autism. Their lives became a whirlwind of therapies and doctors’ visits, but the thing that stood out the most to Mandeep was how differently her son was treated at almost every turn. Why did the word “autism” suddenly change the way the world saw her kind, hardworking son? Why was he denied opportunities granted to other children? A lifelong passion for justice and a never-ending drive to change the world led Mandeep exactly where she was meant to be. From that day onward, Mandeep and her family became advocates for autism awareness, first starting small among their friends and family, then spreading outward in their community. In Noble Victory, Mandeep and her family walk side by side in JSS’s journey with autism and teach us that across the world, we are more alike than we are different, and that even one individual can make a difference.

Defeating Autism by Ugonna Sylvester-Ogan Pdf

Nothing is as good as knowing that parents of autistic children can exert positive authority over them through the power of God which brings total healing. This authority, when exercised, makes it easier for teachers or therapists to achieve positive results with the child. The truth is, once God gives you a child, whether challenged or not, He also empowers you to help that child fulfil his or her destiny. This book chronicles my experience of having three kids at their early years with symptoms of autism with no knowledge of what autism was and having to be in an environment that was ignorant as at that time. There was so much stigma from the society in that environment towards my kids- stigma of being laughed at in school by other kids, the stigma of not behaving normally like other kids in the school or seeming to lack home training, stigma about whether you had done something wrong in the past which has resulted in your kids behaving this way.Not knowing who to run to, I focused on God, their creator, knowing fully well that He must surely have 'instructions' for me on how to take care of His children (instructions are what I call my God's therapy). And as I followed the instructions through prayers and meditations on His Word, I gained more positive authority over my children. God gave me specific prayer points for each of them and specific teaching therapies. This authority gave me a different perspective of the challenges my children were facing. I began to see my children as who the Word of God says they are and made positive declarations over them everyday. Today, my children are doing exceptionally well, excelling brilliantly in their academics and exhibiting great potentials for the future. The work of different professional therapists and the advent of the internet has brought about greater awareness about autism. However, engaging a professional therapist is quite expensive. I did not know about professional therapy until my last child was four years old and even then, I couldn't afford it so I went back to the strategy that got me victory for my first two children - engaging the power of God's instructions. The causes of autism are still being investigated and there is no known cure for it yet; it can only be managed. I have specifically written this book for parents who do not want to manage autism but desire total victory for their children.

I Know You're in There by Marcia Hinds Pdf

This isn’t just another one of those autism books for parents. Rather, this book is a groundbreaking guide that will give both parents and doctors treating autism tools and a pathway to help your child. There was something wrong with Ryan. His parents knew it before the psychiatrist predicted he would end up in an institution. Ryan was diagnosed as autistic at age four. He wouldn’t look people in the eye, had troubles with socialization, difficulties with language and more like most kids that range from mild, to severe autism, or even asperbergers. Like all parents who receive this diagnosis, that day changed everything as your ticket is punched to autism island, population one or two. There was no understanding your child with autism . . . no manual for parenting autism . . . recovery from autism . . . there was no cure . . . there was no hope. Or was there? I Know You’re in There tells the true story of how, through diet, applied behavior analysis (ABA), consistent and rigorous medical treatment, and more, Ryan’s family took the jump and was able work on healing the symptoms known as autism and ultimately to overcome autism. It took a lot of trial and error, but today Ryan isn’t just high functioning on the autism spectrum disorder, but rather uniquely human and is an aerospace engineer, has friends, relationships, and lives a happy “typical” life. His recovery wasn’t miraculous, but instead the result of getting proper medical care, and his parents never taking “no” for an answer. This book provides an early start for your child with autism. Marcia sincerely provides real world examples and actionable steps to take to get your child the treatment and care that could help them beat autism. If your child has been diagnosed with autism, or the warning signs are there, which are also covered here, I Know You’re in There is an indispensable resource in your fight against autism spectrum disorder.

The Art of the Spectrum by Ashley Blair Hill Pdf

"For any parent who has stared into the abyss, this book is a great eye opener, helping all of us to realize how autism impacts not only the autistic but also their loved ones." -Aundrea E. Mack, Special Education Teacher Imagine your chances of having children being diminished or slim to none. Then by the grace of God you become pregnant; and not just one child, but two. The joy that filled this mother's heart as she prepared for a life with fraternal twins was unspeakable. She planned and forecasted the many stages of their lives, and nine months into those plans, there was a drastic interruption. Her child had autism. What do you do when your biggest fear is looking you in the eye? Why did this have to happen? Who is this child? Does she even know that I exist? Autism attempted to silence this child, but Hill's testimony in The Art of the Spectrum uncovers the spiritual strategy that God gave a mother to help conquer the battle. Autism does speak, but this mother chose to speak back.

I Am in Here by Elizabeth M. Bonker,Virginia G. Breen Pdf

She looked into my eyes and blinked hers slowly and deliberately, like a stroke victim, to show me that although she couldn't speak, she understood what I was saying to her. I stroked her hair softly. 'I know you're in there, honey,' I told her. 'We'll get you out.'" Despite the horror of seeing fifteen-month-old Elizabeth slip away into autism, her mother knew that her bright little girl was still in there. When Elizabeth eventually learned to communicate, first by using a letterboard and later by typing, the poetry she wrote became proof of a glorious, life-affirming victory for this young girl and her family. I Am in Here is the spiritual journey of a mother and daughter who refuse to give up hope, who celebrate their victories, and who keep trying to move forward despite the obstacles. Although she cannot speak, Elizabeth writes poetry that shines a light on the inner world of autism and the world around us. That poetry and her mother's stirring storytelling combine in this inspirational book to proclaim that there is always a reason to take the next step forward--with hope.

One of Us by Mark Osteen Pdf

In 1991, Mark Osteen and his wife, Leslie, were struggling to understand why their son, Cameron, was so different from other kids. At age one, Cam had little interest in toys and was surprisingly fixated on books. He didn’t make baby sounds; he ignored other children. As he grew older, he failed to grasp language, remaining unresponsive even when his parents called his name. When Cam started having screaming anxiety attacks, Mark and Leslie began to grasp that Cam was developmentally delayed. But when Leslie raised the possibility of an autism diagnosis, Mark balked. Autism is so rare, he thought. Might as well worry about being struck by lightning. Since that time, awareness of autism has grown monumentally. Autism has received extensive coverage in the news media, and it has become a popular subject for film, television, and literature, but the disorder is frequently portrayed and perceived as a set of eccentricities that can be corrected with proper treatment. In reality, autism permanently wrecks many children’s chances for typical lives. Plenty of recent bestsellers have described the hardships of autism, but those memoirs usually focus on the recovery of people who overcome some or all of the challenges of the disorder. And while that plot is uplifting, it’s rare in real life, as few autistic children fully recover. The territory of severe autism—of the child who is debilitated by the condition, who will never be cured—has been largely neglected. One of Us: A Family’s Life with Autism tells that story. In this book, Mark Osteen chronicles the experience of raising Cam, whose autism causes him aggression, insomnia, compulsions, and physical sickness. In a powerful, deeply personal narrative, Osteen recounts the struggles he and his wife endured in diagnosing, treating, and understanding Cam’s disability, following the family through the years of medical difficulties and emotional wrangling. One of Us thrusts the reader into the life of a child who exists in his own world and describes the immense hardships faced by those who love and care for him. Leslie and Mark's marriage is sorely tested by their son's condition, and the book follows their progress from denial to acceptance while they fight to save their own relationship. By embracing the little victories of their life with Cam and by learning to love him as he is, Mark takes the reader down a road just as gratifying, and perhaps more moving, than one to recovery. One of Us is not a book about a child who overcomes autism. Instead, it’s the story of a different but equally rare sort of victory—the triumph of love over tremendous adversity.

Turn Autism Around by Mary Lynch Barbera, Ph.D. Pdf

Help remediate—and in some cases eliminate—autism and other developmental delays in young children, even in as little as 15 minutes a day with this toolkit of behavioral practices that can be taught at home. Developmental delays and signs of autism usually show up before 18 months of age, yet children are often not diagnosed until they are 4 or 5 years old. In Turn Autism Around, Dr. Mary Barbera explains why parents can't afford to worry and wait in long lines for evaluations and treatment while not knowing how to help their children. She empowers parents, caregivers, and early intervention professionals to regain hope and take back control with simple strategies to dramatically improve outcomes for their children. Dr. Barbera has created a new approach to teaching kids with developmental delays that uses the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) married with a positive, child-friendly methodology that any parent can use—whether or not their child has delays—to learn to teach communication skills, socialization strategies, as well as tackle sleep, eating, potty training, and behavior challenges in a positive, effective, and lasting way. Turn Autism Around is the first book of its kind that calls attention to an important fact: parents can make a tremendous impact on their child's development through behavioral practices taught at home, even in as little as 15 minutes a day. Her program shows these autism and developmental delays can be remediated, and in some cases, delays can be caught up altogether, if parents intervene while the child is young. This book is for parents of young children aged one-to-five years who are passionate about helping their child as well as learning how they can change the trajectory of their child's and family's life.

Head to Toe Healing from Autism and Other Neuroimmune Disorders - A Book of 31 Scriptural Prayers for Your Child by D R Warring Pdf

Jesus says in John 5:6, "Do you want to be made well?" Beloved of God, if the answer is "yes" for your child, then this prayer book is for you. God equates Himself with His Word (John 1:1;14), is Living Water, and His Word is life and health to our bodies. Thus, these prayers were written to cover your child from head-to-toe in healing, Word-drenched prayers. The Lord calls His people to be in this world, but not of this world. This includes regarding our thinking and dealings with sicknesses, diseases, and disorders like autism, PANDAS, and other neuroimmune disorders. As His covenant children, we are called to say what God says about sickness, define it as He does, and deal with it how He tells us to. In addition to the powerful, head-to-toe, prayers, this book also includes teachings and revelations on faith and healing that make it clear it's God's will to heal YOUR child and that healing was paid for by Jesus' stripes in full for him/her.Excerpt from book: "For far too long, the enemy has successfully deceived many into redefining sickness into something contrary to the Word of God. Thus, even His own people have been affected and brought under confusion by the enemy's lies. Consequently, they've settled for sickness in their bodies. As God's children, we are called to only say what He says about sickness, only define it as He does, and only do with it what He tells us to...There are many believers who are merely expressing their opinions about sickness, disease, and healing that are not based on the Word of God, so we must know His Word and will for ourselves to keep from being deceived."
