Why Do We Need a Savior? by Tracy M. Sumner Pdf

Is it enough in God’s eyes to be a “good person”? Why do we need a “savior”? These very important questions get Bible-based answers in this book. Why Do We Need a Savior? describes—directly from God’s Word—why human beings are separated from God and in desperate need of salvation. And that’s just as true for “good people” as well as the “bad guys” we so easily identify. Built on familiar verses such as Romans 3:23 (“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”) and Romans 6:23 (“for the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”), yet drawing support from passages throughout scripture, Why Do We Need a Savior? will encourage those already in the faith while challenging others to accept God’s free gift of salvation.

Making Sense of the Bible by Wayne A. Grudem Pdf

With a strong emphasis on the scriptural basis for each doctrine—what the whole Bible teaches us today about a particular topic; clear writing, with technical terms kept to a minimum; and a contemporary approach, emphasizing how each doctrine should be understood and applied by present-day Christians, Making Sense of the Bible is required reading for understanding the relevant passages of Scripture.Topics include Canon of Scripture: the list of all books that belong in the Bible; Authority of Scripture: all words in Scripture are God’s words because that is what the Bible claims for itself; Clarity of Scripture: the Bible is written so that its teachings are able to be understood by all who read it; Necessity of Scripture: the Bible is necessary for knowledge of the gospel; and Sufficiency of Scripture: Scripture contains all the words of God he intended his people to have.Written in a friendly tone, appealing to the emotions and the spirit as well as the intellect, Making Sense of the Bible helps readers overcome wrong ideas, make better decisions on new questions, and grow as Christians.

Rich Wounds by David Mathis Pdf

Profound reflections on the cross that help you to meditate on and marvel at the sacrificial love of Jesus. This book can be used as a devotional, especially during Lent and Easter. These profound reflections on the cross from David Mathis, author of The Christmas We Didn’t Expect, will help you to meditate on and marvel at Jesus’ life, sacrificial death, and spectacular resurrection-enabling you to treasure anew who Jesus is and what he has done. Many of us are so familiar with the Easter story that it becomes easy to miss subtle details and difficult to really enjoy its meaning. This book will help you to pause and marvel at Jesus, whose now-glorified wounds are a sign of his unfailing love and the decisive victory that he has won: “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5) This book can be used as a devotional. The chapters on Holy Week make it especially helpful during the Lent season and at Easter.

Keeping Your Children's Ministry on Mission by Jared Kennedy Pdf

Practical Strategies for Gospel-Centered Children's Ministry When building a children's ministry at a church, there is so much to consider: Which curriculum should we use? How many volunteers do we need? How do we keep parents in the loop? And that's before we run into stalled check-in computers, missing activity sheets, and floors that need to be vacuumed. While all of the tasks of children's ministry are important, leaders can get easily distracted with the everyday work of doing ministry and lose sight of the main focus—the gospel. Writing from personal ministry experience, Jared Kennedy shares a four-fold approach for gospel-centered, missional children's ministry: hospitality, teaching, discipleship, and mission. This practical resource covers a variety of topics ranging from creating child protection policies to putting together lesson plans to catechism, helpful for children's ministers and volunteers alike as they disciple children with the powerful message of the gospel. Applicable: Includes questions for reflection and evaluation Helps Leaders Disciple the Next Generation: Features advice for sending kids and their families on mission Ideal for Nursery–5th Grade Teachers and Leaders: A practical and helpful resource for children's ministries Published in Conjunction with the Gospel Coalition (TGC)

Solid Foundations for the 21st Century Christian by Milton C. Richards Pdf

Milton attended church while growing up in Richmond, Virginia; though it was mostly just part of the family's Sunday routine before dinner and the football game. After graduating from the University of Richmond, Milton entered the U.S. Coast Guard's Officer Candidate School in 1963. Thus began a twenty year career that took him all over the country, including assignments in Viet Nam, Guam and Hawaii. It was in Mayport, Florida, while serving as captain of a Coast Guard buoy tender, that Milton accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. This experience changed his whole outlook on life and gave him a hunger and thirst for the word of God that continues to drive him today. Since his retirement from the military, Milton has served on church pastoral staff and as lay volunteer in many capacities. In 1989 he co-founded Prison Fellowship Guam and has been involved in prison ministry for the last 21 years, including three years as a prison chaplain. Milton has seen first hand how the power of God's truth changes lives. Milton also observed that many church members were lukewarm in their Christian walk because they lacked an understanding of the foundational truths of Christianity; and therefore hesitated to even share their Christian faith with another. This book is his effort to help those who truly desire a "Solid Foundation" for their future spiritual growth. Milton and his wife, Olivia, live in Gatesville, Texas. He is available for speaking to groups and churches. You may reach him via e-mail at [email protected] or by letter at PO Box 1073, Gatesville, Texas, 76528.

From Depression to Deliverance by Carole Adkins Pdf

Depression: The chemical imbalance in the brain that attacks the very soul. Yet, as late as 1974, the American Psychiatric Association listed in their diagnostic manual "strong religious belief" as a disorder. Is depression exclusively a chemical imbalance? And as recently as today many pastors in the religious community discourage their parishioners from seeking medical help. Is depression exclusively a spiritual attack? From Depression to Deliverance is a spiritual companion to your doctor's advice demonstrating that depression is an attack on the mind, body and spirit. Thus, in order to win this battle, we have to attack it on all three fronts embracing both the scientific and spiritual communities. You are not alone in this battle. So join us on this pilgrimage from a psychiatrist's office, to the great outdoors with a few church sermons on the way; from mourning to joy, from torment to peace, from darkness into God's wonderful light.
