Wisdom of the Ancient Seers by David Frawley Pdf

"The Rig Veda is not only one of the oldest sacred scriptures of the world, but also one of the most misunderstood. Past scholarship has dismissed the hymns of the Rig Veda as being expressions of a primitive animistic mentality that only rarely rose to true spiritual and philosophical heights. David Frawley's book demonstrates that this judgmental view is ill-founded. His fine renderings of select Vedic hymns bear witness to the fact that their composers were sages and seers--powerful poets who knew the art of symbolic and metaphoric communication. The Vedic hymns give us a unique glimpse not into a primitive mentality but a mentality and culture that revolved around the highest spiritual values and visions. This is an important and riveting book, ushering in a new and sounder tradition of Vedic interpretation and scholarship." Georg Feuerstein

Echoes of Ancient Indian Wisdom by Shantha N. Nair Pdf

The echoes of ancient Indian wisdom can be heard from the oldest of scriptures that existed many years ago. Even thousands of years before they were written down on palm leaves, the teachings were passed on from generations to generations, from the teachers to the disciples in their oral form. These works are amongst the oldest of humanity. They laid the foundation of one of the most tolerant and diverse religions in the world, the Sanatan Dharma or Hinduism, which is marked by a wide range of ethos and philosophical approaches. Covering the vastness and immensity of the ancient Indian scriptures is akin to capturing a gigantic ocean in a small pitcher. Thus, in this book, the author has tried to catch a few 'echoes' resonating with age-old wisdom and has presented them to the readers. the book unravels the knowledge hidden inside the Samhitas, Brahmanas, Aranyakas and Upanishads of the Shruti that form the Vedas, and in the Smriti like Agamas, Dharma Shastras and so on. In short, it provides a glimpse, or rather a macro view of the ancient treasure of India.

Doctoring Traditions by Projit Bihari Mukharji Pdf

There is considerable interest now in the contemporary lives of the so-called traditional medicines of South Asia and beyond. "Doctoring Traditions, "which examines Ayurveda in British India, particularly Bengal, roughly from the 1860s to the 1930s, is a welcome departure even within the available work in the area. For in it the author subtly interrogates the therapeutic changes that created modern Ayurveda. He does so by exploring how Ayurvedic ideas about the body changed dramatically in the modern period and by breaking with the oft-repeated but scantily examined belief that changes in Ayurvedic understandings of the body were due to the introduction of cadaveric dissections and Western anatomical knowledge. "Doctoring Traditions" argues that the actual motor of change were a number of small technologies that were absorbed into Ayurvedic practice at the time, including thermometers and microscopes. In each of its five core chapters the book details how the adoption of a small technology set in motion a dramatic refiguration of the body. This book will be required reading for historians both of medicine and South Asia.

Witches, Wizards, Seers & Healers Myths & Tales by Anonim Pdf

• Marketing focus on combination of gift production and high content values, delivering a curated read to genre enthusiasts. • Major interest pushed through Instagram, with Youtube reviewers and influences. In the West we tend to think of witches in terms of the witch trials, when fear, ignorance and religious fervour brought the poor to heel, and fostered suspicion of those who dared to be different, or knowledgeable, or independent of mind. Witches and wizards are often associated with pre-Christian societies, Celtic in particular, (and therefore popular in tales of fantasy), but the nature of their wisdom can be found in so many fascinating cultures across the world. Ancient societies, particularly where natural religions with many gods abound, often highlight the power of an elder, or a seer, a healer or a wise friend. Tales of wizards and witches reach across traditions as folk try to explain natural phenomena and engage with the world around them. Those who understood the properties of healing in plants, or could make a prediction of weather events to rescue crops, became worshipped as elders, as keepers of knowledge. In tribal African societies, Polynesian cultures and East Asian traditions there are tales of those with great knowledge who are often described as witches or wizards. The Baba Yaga of Eastern Europe, Bokwewa, the humpback magician of the Chippewa, Merlin and Morgana la Faye of Arthurian Legend and the fox witches of Japan are but a few of the many examples. Some work for good, others with ill-intent, but all become the focus of folkloric legend, collected here in this new book of myths and tales.

The Seer by Jim W. Goll Pdf

The prophetic movements in church history and in contemporary life are fed by two mighty streams: the prophet, whose revelation is primarily verbal, and the seer, whose revelation is more visionary in nature. While the role of the prophet is familiar, less is known about the seer dimension. To many people, these visionary prophets remain mysterious, otherworldly, and even strange.

In Search of the Cradle of Civilization by Georg Feuerstein,Subhash Kak,David Frawley Pdf

In this pathbreaking book, the authors show that the ancient Indians were no primitives but possessed a high spiritual culture, which not only influenced the evolution of the Western world in decisive ways but which still hs much to teach us today. India's archaic spirituality is codified in the rich symbols, metaphors and myths of the magnificent Rig-Veda, which is shown to be much older than has been widely assumed by scholars. The present book also unravels the astonishing mathematical and astronomical code hidden in the Vedic hymns. Anyone interested in ancient cultural history, India, archaeo-astronomy or spirituality will find this well researched and cross-cultural work spellbinding and enriching.

The Science of Seers by Fatih Gunicen Pdf

Carlos Castaneda is one of the most widely read authors in history. And the twelve books he has written tell us about his unique experiences with don Juan Matus, an Indian shaman sage he once apprenticed. However, the extraordinarily profound subjects described by Castaneda have not to this day been fully understood, and they still stand as a raw material. So, the sole purpose of this book is to process this raw material and reveal the true meaning of what Castaneda speaks of in his books. On the other hand, this is not only a book of "What did Castaneda actually mean?" It analyzes what he has written in a simple and understandable manner, as it has never before been done, even moving to an upper level to reveal it is actually a sort of "science". Therefore, just like the "science of matter", it is also a kind of science. And considering the importance of the creation of all things in this universe as polar twins by God Almighty, this science also claims its place in this universe as the opposite twin of modern science, forming the other side of the coin. God Almighty allows the flourishing of the "Science of Seers" in an isolated place such as Central America, far away from the "Known World". Then, by sending an anthropologist there such as Castaneda, He enables all this information to make an appearance on the stage of history. This information becoming known through Castaneda, also makes it possible for us to carry out a cross-check of the science of matter. Although the science of matter and the science of seers are poles apart, there is a common ground where they meet: to reject the religion and God Almighty as its Owner. Even though their backgrounds are completely different from each other, these two sciences deny the religion. But at the same time, they also refuse to acknowledge each other, and both claim to be "the only truth". On the other hand, don Juan states, "Our minds can only be a witness to this universe, having nothing to say about it." Therefore, each of these two sciences actually takes the stand as a witness to this universe. And the Almighty God, "who taught man what he did not know," manifests to us the true nature of the things they bear witness to. Thus, while explaining the collection of knowledge revealed by the "seers", this book also places it safely on a cornerstone and explains it in the light of the Koran. Because the Koran not only clarifies many arguments used by the seers, but also displays that God Almighty is their real Owner. On the other hand, just like the scientists, the seers also suggest that their knowledge is the one and only, which is not the case. Because God Almighty reveals their knowledge and much more to us in the Holy Koran. Therefore, this book also contains information about Islam, and in fact, shows us that it is something very different from what is described on televisions and newspapers. Moreover, it speaks of the Prophets as Jesus and Moses mentioned in the Koran while making references to the seers.
