River of God by Douglas D. Priest Jr.,Stephen E. Burris Pdf

River of God is an introduction to world missions aimed at undergraduate students. However, the readers will soon discover that the book is rich in its content far beyond the editors' original plan. It serves as a reader for people with various levels of missiological interest and competence and deals with cutting-edge issues in missions. This book introduces a new paradigm, Kingdom Missiology, which builds on shalom in the Old Testament and as Jesus applied to the Kingdom of God in the New Testament. The first half of the book looks at Kingdom Missiology from the biblical, historical, and cultural dimensions. The second half of the book describes helpful strategies in the implementation of this paradigm. The importance of urban ministry is woven throughout the book.

2010Boston: The Changing Contours of World Mission and Christianity by Todd M. Johnson,Rodney L. Petersen,Gina Bellofatto,Travis Myers Pdf

In November 2010, three hundred faculty, students, and others interested in Christian mission gathered in Boston to consider how the world, the global church, and Christian missions have changed since the World Missionary Conference in Edinburgh in 1910 and to reflect on the three previous centennial conferences (Tokyo 2010 in May, Edinburgh 2010 in June, and Cape Town 2010 in October). Participants at "2010Boston" were not delegates from churches and mission agencies, but were students and scholars of various aspects of world Christianity representing the Anglican/Episcopal, Evangelical, mainline Protestant, Orthodox, and Roman Catholic traditions. This conference volume consists of nine keynote messages, five student presentations, three reports from the other conferences, and additional materials from or about 2010Boston. The keynote messages address the history of mission (especially in and from Boston) and the current global context for mission, and suggest modes for future Christian engagement with the world and one another. Student papers address such conference themes as unity in mission, mission and postcolonialism, and discipleship in context. The closing chapter surveys the conference's eight themes and summarizes the outcomes of the 2010Boston process.

Introduction to Global Missions by Zane Pratt,M. David Sills,Jeff K. Walters Pdf

Missions is the work of the church to reach and teach the peoples of the world for Christ’s sake. The missionary call is a vital part of the life of every follower of Jesus Christ and, therefore, the church. But the effective discipleship of all nations requires a solid biblical, historical, and practical foundation. Therefore, the study of missiology demands the effective application of biblical studies, theology, and history. This text brings the rich heritage of evangelical missiology founded on conservative theology to a twenty-first century audience passionate for the proclamation of the gospel. Introduction to Global Missions brings the authors’ decades of combined missionary and teaching experience to a survey text appropriate for college or seminary classroom. The book is divided into four sections and thirteen chapters. The text begins with the biblical and theological foundations of Christian missions, including a biblical theology of missions. Before moving to the practical and strategic issues of twenty-first century missions, the authors consider the historical development of missions with a view toward providing a basis for contemporary strategies. A final foundational set of chapters addresses the impact of cultures on the communication of the gospel. The remainder of the text deals with key issues and opportunities in missions, including church planting, missions in the local church, and strategies for disciple-making. Introduction to Global Missions provides a foundation for readers to consider their own missionary call, whether as a full-time field missionary or a church member on short-term projects. No matter their role, Great Commission Christians need a framework for doing missions well.

Well over 500 total pages ... Today’s dynamic and persistent operating environment has placed unprecedented demands on our military personnel. At no other time have the potential threats been more varied, requiring individuals who are highly intelligent, agile, ethical, tenacious, and physically fit to succeed in any climate or terrain. The Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC) is preparing professional combat athletes who are ready to execute missions in the largely unstructured battlefields of today and the future. MARSOC’s Performance and Resiliency (PERRES) ideology is integral to that preparation. By focusing on mind, body, and spirit, PERRES ensures that Marines not only are physically strong but also possess the mental focus and unconquerable spirit necessary to persevere under the extreme stress of a high operational tempo and through the unknowns of asymmetric warfare. PERRES trains with renewal in mind, focusing on the resilience of the individual, unit, and family. PERRES is unique in integrating high-level athletic training and nutrition with a focus on warrior values, including dedication to family, country, unit, and mission.
