Topology of Singular Fibers of Differentiable Maps by Osamu Saeki Pdf

The volume develops a thorough theory of singular fibers of generic differentiable maps. This is the first work that establishes the foundational framework of the global study of singular differentiable maps of negative codimension from the viewpoint of differential topology. The book contains not only a general theory, but also some explicit examples together with a number of very concrete applications. This is a very interesting subject in differential topology, since it shows a beautiful interplay between the usual theory of singularities of differentiable maps and the geometric topology of manifolds.

Mathematics of Surfaces XII by Ralph Martin Pdf

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12th IMA International Conference on the Mathematics of Surfaces, held in Sheffield, UK in September 2007. The 22 revised full papers presented together with 8 invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. Among the topics addressed is the applicability of various aspects of mathematics to engineering and computer science, especially in domains such as computer aided design, computer vision, and computer graphics. The papers cover a range of ideas from underlying theoretical tools to industrial uses of surfaces. Research is reported on theoretical aspects of surfaces including topology, parameterization, differential geometry, and conformal geometry, and also more practical topics such as geometric tolerances, computing shape from shading, and medial axes for industrial applications. Other specific areas of interest include subdivision schemes, solutions of differential equations on surfaces, knot insertion, surface segmentation, surface deformation, and surface fitting.

Dry Clutch Control for Automotive Applications by Pietro J. Dolcini,Carlos Canudas-de-Wit,Hubert Béchart Pdf

Dry Clutch Control for Automated Manual Transmission Vehiclesanalyses the control of a part of the powertrain which has a key role in ride comfort during standing-start and gear-shifting manoeuvres. The mechanical conception of the various elements in the driveline has long since been optimised so this book takes a more holistic system-oriented view of the problem featuring: a comprehensive description of the driveline elements and their operation paying particular attention to the clutch, a nonlinear model of the driveline for simulation and a simplified model for control design, with a standing-start driver automaton for closed loop simulation, a detailed analysis of the engagement operation and the related comfort criteria, different control schemes aiming at meeting these criteria, friction coefficient and unknown input clutch torque observers, practical implementation issues and solutions based on experience of implementing optimal engagement strategies on two Renault prototypes.

Autonomic Communication by Athanasios V. Vasilakos,Manish Parashar,Stamatis Karnouskos,Witold Pedrycz Pdf

New paradigms for communication/networking systems are needed in order to tackle the emerging issues such as heterogeneity, complexity and management of evolvable infrastructures. In order to realize such advanced systems, approaches should become task- and knowledge-driven, enabling a service-oriented, requirement, and trust-driven development of communication networks. The networking and seamless integration of concepts, technologies and devices in a dynamically changing environment poses many challenges to the research community, including interoperability, programmability, management, openness, reliability, performance, context awareness, intelligence, autonomy, security, privacy, safety, and semantics. This edited volume explores the challenges of technologies to realize the vision where devices and applications seamlessly interconnect, intelligently cooperate, and autonomously manage themselves, and as a result, the borders of virtual and real world vanish or become significantly blurred.

Hands-on Pipeline as Code with Jenkins by Ankita Patil,Mitesh Soni Pdf

A step-by-step guide to implementing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CICD) for Mobile, Hybrid, and Web applications DESCRIPTION The main objective of the book is to create Declarative Pipeline for programming languages such as Java, Android, iOS, AngularJS, NodeJS, Flutter, Ionic Cordova, and .Net. The book starts by introducing all the areas which encompass the field of DevOps Practices. It covers definition of DevOps, DevOps history, benefits of DevOps culture, DevOps and Value Streams, DevOps practices, different Pipeline types such as Build Pipeline, Scripted Pipeline, Declarative Pipeline, and Blue Ocean. Each chapter focuses on Pipeline that includes Static Code Analysis using SonarQube or Lint tools, Unit tests, calculating code coverage, publishing unit tests and coverage reports, verifying the threshold of code coverage, creating build/package, and distributing package to a specific environment based on the type of programming language. The book will also teach you how to use different deployment distribution environments such as Azure App Services, Docker, Azure Container Services, Azure Kubernetes Service, and App Center. By the end, you will be able to implement DevOps Practices using Jenkins effectively and efficiently. A Comparison of Online Shopping Behavior of American and German Consumers by Silke Kühn Pdf

Diploma Thesis from the year 2004 in the subject Business economics - Marketing, Corporate Communication, CRM, Market Research, Social Media, grade: 2,7, University of Duisburg-Essen, language: English, abstract: "A profound shift in the economy is underway - the industrial age economy is rapidly giving way to the Internet age economy."1 Four years after the New Economy crash the Internet Economy is booming and hopes that mobile offers will further increase the speed.2 With the number of online sales for goods and services increasing every day3, online shopping - with sales growth rates outpacing traditional retailing purchases - has become one of the fastest growing forms of shopping4. The statement above explains the reason why the term Electronic Commerce has kept both business research and business practice as occupied as barely any other term, in the last years.5 Warren D. Raisch writes about this shift in the economy that "the global development and acceptance of the Internet as the new standard for communication and commerce provides us with a powerful new global Internet-based E-Business network (...)."6 Realizing that we live in a global marketplace with international trade7 additionally pushed by the Internet, companies face a stronger competition and the need to create more value for customers than their competitors. In this context, it is important for companies to realize that, through the Internet, there is a power shift to the customer. Furthermore, as customers will demand and tolerate only delightening buying experiences, it is a necessity to capture and analyze information about buying behavior in the 21st century business.8 When talking about E-Commerce, which is a part of Electronic Business (E-Business), describing the sale of goods and services via the Internet targeting a mass market9, the following two areas have to be differentiated: Business-to-Cus- tomer (B2C) E-Commerce, meaning the settlement of buying contracts between a commer

The Hudson River Ecosystem by Karin E. Limburg,Mary A. Moran,William H. McDowell Pdf

The Ecosystems Research Center (ERC) was established at Cornell U ni versity in October 1980 by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with the goals of: 1. Identifying fundamental principles and concepts of ecosystems sci ence and the determination of their importance in understanding and pre dicting the responses of ecosystems to stress, the description of the basic mechanisms that operate within ecosystems, and an examination of the stability of ecosystem structure and function in the face of stress. 2. Testing the applicability of those theoretical concepts to problems of concern to the EPA through a consideration of retrospective and other case studies. In line with these goals, the Hudson River ecosystem provided the basis for the first major retrospective study undertaken by the ERC. The goal of the project was to develop recommendations concerning how ecosystem monitoring can and should be carried out in support of EPA's regulatory responsibilities. Our hope was and is that the experience gained from this study will be broadly applicable to a range of manage ment problems involving estuarine ecosystems, and will lead to more effective regulation.
