《舊唐書》為後晉劉昫等撰。後晉天福六年（941年），晉高祖石敬瑭命張昭遠、賈緯等人撰唐史，由宰相趙瑩監修。後晉開運二年（945年）書成，時因劉昫為相，故該書署名劉昫撰。原名《唐書》，《郡齋讀書志》、《直齋書錄解題》、《宋史·藝文志》及南宋刻本均題為《唐書》，後為區別北宋歐陽脩等人編的《新唐書》，改名《舊唐書》。共200卷，包括本紀20卷、志30卷及列傳150卷。記載唐高祖武德元年（618年）至唐哀帝天祐四年（907年）。 《舊唐書》長慶（唐穆宗年號）以前的內容多依吳兢、韋述、柳芳、於休烈、令狐峘等人所撰寫的唐代舊史，資料比較充實。但長慶以後的內容較為簡略疏漏，內容也比較蕪雜。 《舊唐書》修撰時間短促，北宋人嚴厲地批評《舊唐書》：「紀次無法，詳略失中，文采不明，事實零落」，甚至有並列兩傳的情況，如卷一O一、一八七《忠義傳》都有王求禮，卷五九丘和附傳、卷一八六上《酷吏傳》都有丘神勣，卷一O二韋述附傳、卷一九O下《文苑傳》都有蕭穎士，又如卷九九附傳、卷一七一都有張仲方，卷一九八上曹憲附傳、卷一九O中李邕傳裡都有李善。基本上，《舊唐書》只是抄錄現成的唐史有關文獻，照抄《國史》、《實錄》及唐末文書檔案，許多「大唐」、「本朝」、「今上」字樣仍然保留；唐武宗以後的宣、懿、僖、昭、哀五代，因無《實錄》存下，則雜采各家傳聞和《唐年補錄》和《唐末三朝聞見錄》諸書。 《舊唐書》在保存史料上有一定的價值。例如李密〈討隋煬帝檄文〉在《隋書》和《新唐書》的《李密傳》均不載，只有在《舊唐書》中得以保留。因為《舊唐書》前期文獻資料完整，材料翔實，敘事詳明，文字簡潔有力，頗受後世重視，如《郭子儀傳》，「首尾整潔，無一釀詞，因此可知唐史官之老於文學也」。《賈耽傳》裡收錄的《隴右山南圖》和《海內華夷圖》等，是中國地理上極為珍貴的資料。《舊唐書》裡更記錄了大量的中國少數民族的史料，如，文成公主、金城公主入藏的史跡，以及突厥、回紇、吐蕃、契丹等多民族的歷史。 從南宋紹興以後，《舊唐書》一直沒有重刻，湮沒不聞，以至於「鬱絕不傳，無所考覓」。明嘉靖年間，聞人詮自王延喆、張汴處收集殘稿，重刻《舊唐書》。清朝乾隆年間編修《四庫全書》時，命沈德潛等人校勘兩《唐書》，《新、舊唐書》同時被列入「二十四史」之一。道光年間，岑建功參照《太平御覽》和《冊府元龜》的內容，重新整理《舊唐書》。 顧炎武稱：「《舊唐書》雖頗涉繁蕪，然事跡明白，首尾該贍，亦自可觀。」李慈銘《越縵堂讀書記》中稱《舊唐書》「論、贊極有佳者」。北宋司馬光編撰《資治通鑑》時，反多以《舊唐書》為主，在史料完整性的考量，《新唐書》並不能取代《舊唐書》。（維基百科）

本書不含表的字數已達一百二十五萬多字的篇幅。這個版本是補字最齊全的版本。 《漢書》，又名《前漢書》，中國古代歷史著作。東漢班固所著，是中國第一部紀傳體斷代史。沿用《史記》的體例而略有變更，改「書」為「志」，改「列傳」為「傳」，改「本紀」為「紀」，無「世家」。全書包括紀十二篇，表八篇，志十篇，傳七十篇，共一百篇，記載了上自西漢漢高祖元年（前202年），下至新朝地皇四年（23年），共230年歷史。《漢書》語言莊嚴工整，多用排偶，遣辭造句典雅遠奧，與《史記》平暢的口語化文字形成鮮明對照。中國紀史方式自《漢書》以後，都仿照其體例，纂修了紀傳體的斷代史。 自班彪起即以著《漢書》為己任，經過二十餘年努力，班固完成了《漢書》的主要部分。漢和帝永元元年（89），班固隨從竇憲出擊匈奴，參預謀議。後因事入獄，永元四年死在獄中。時《漢書》還有八表和《天文志》沒有寫成，漢和帝命班昭（曹大家）入東觀藏書閣補作，馬續協助班昭作了《天文志》。故漢書前後歷經四人之手完成，歷時四十多年。漢書註疏中，最著名者有唐顏師古注、清王先謙補注。 （維基百科）
