The alphabetical word lists are arranged with each consonant sound in initial, medial, and final positions. The blends or sound clusters for each sound follow in family groupings (i.e., /br/ initial, /br/ medial, rb medial/rb/final). They are listed under each consonant in the blend. The first letters of each heading are guides to the sounds (rather than the spelling) of words in the list. Sounds are indicated by English letters and phonetic spellings.
