A Layman's Commentary on Revelation by Don Jones Pdf

A Layman’s Commentary on Revelation traces a journey through the vision John records in the Bible’s last book. Along the way, questions about this world’s end, God’s judgment of all people, and His promises of new life in the kingdom find their answers in Revelation’s visions of drama, worship, and the apocalypse. Author Don E. Jones brings more than five decades of experience in preaching and teaching the Bible to his commentary, presenting a close reading of the biblical text, the insights of noted Bible scholars, and the answers to questions that often arise when individuals encounter the world of Revelation. This guide describes the overarching narrative of Revelation as a seven-act drama. Along the way, treating each passage in turn, the commentary offers Revelation’s answers to challenging questions: • What will happen when the world ends? • Who is the anti-Christ? • When is the Second Coming? • What will God’s judgment look like? To provide addition assistance, four charts and four appendices present supplementary information on the book of Daniel and its vision of the end times. If you wonder how to make sense of Revelation, find yourself puzzled by its strange imagery, or seek answers to the ultimate questions of life, then A Layman’s Commentary on Revelation can guide you through the pages of John’s vision. It takes your searching questions and God’s answers seriously, giving both attention in light of the cosmic drama John shares with Christians of all ages.

Revelation by G. K. Beale,David Campbell Pdf

G. K. Beale’s monumental New International Greek Testament Commentary volume on Revelation has been highly praised since its publication in 1999. This shorter commentary distills the superb grammatical analysis and exegesis from that tome (over 1,300 pages) into a book more accessible and pertinent to preachers, students, and general Christian readers. As in the original commentary, Beale views Revelation as an integrated whole, as a conscious continuation of the Old Testament prophetic books, and shows that recognizing Revelation’s nearly constant use of Old Testament allusions is key to unlocking its meaning. Interspersed throughout the volume are more than sixty sets of “Suggestions for Reflection” to help readers better grasp the relevance of Revelation to their lives and our world today.

A Layman's Commentary on the Book of Revelation by Arthur Bedard Pdf

Too many Christians today do not read the Book of Revelation because: 1. It is too difficult to understand. What you are saying is that God inspired John to write a book that you cannot understand. If that is true then why can you understand other books of the bible? Also God promises a blessing to all who read this book. 2. It is too scary to read all of the events that will happen. The only part of the book that a Christian needs to read are the first three chapters because in chapter 4 verses 1-2 Christians will be raptured to heaven and not be affected by the rest of the events. Also chapters 19 to 22 which occur after the Tribulation period (when we return with Jesus). All the rest of the book is what happens to those who did not have their names written in the Lamb's Book of Life when the Rapture happened. 3. They think that the events in the book have already happened. These people are called Preterits' and no matter that they believe that the events have already happened, they cannot explain when the events have occurred or explain the millennium or the new Temple. Ignoring the prophecies in Revelation will not stop them from happening. The Book of Revelation begins with and ends with a promised blessing to those who read it. Revelation 1:3 Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. Revelation 22:7 Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy written in this scroll.

Understanding The Book of Revelation: Layman's Words by A. L. Springer Pdf

To whomever may read this book: I started a study of Revelation several years ago. The reason for starting this study was to try and understand the last book of the Bible. So many had told me that Revelation was full of mysteries and difficult to understand. I searched for something that would guide me, make me think about each verse and how each passage applies to my life now and how it could in the future. My great uncle had written a book many years ago that had been passed down through my family to me. I used his book as my guide for my quest. But, as I got into the study I began writing down additional verses, thoughts and life applications. Also, trying to relate to what we know as everyday life today to what must of seemed so foreign to John. All that said this book was put together with much prayer and godly guidance to provide assistance in studying Revelation. I hope it will help someone not only understand Revelation, but prompt thoughts and discussions. Most of all I hope this book might inspire to spread the gospel before it is too late and possibly help someone find their way to Christ.

When the Man Comes Around: A Commentary on the Book of Revelation by Douglas Wilson Pdf

"Though St. John the Evangelist saw many strange monsters in his vision, he saw no creature so wild as one of his own commentators." ~ G.K. Chesterton The book of Revelation was written to do just that: reveal. But most commentaries nowadays either engage in bizarre speculations about the future, or they keep an embarrassed distance from all the apocalyptic events that the apostle John says will “shortly take place.” In this commentary, Douglas Wilson provides a passage-by-passage walkthrough of the entire book, showing how John’s most notorious prophecies concern the Fall of Jerusalem in A.D. 70. Explaining symbols and characters as he goes, Wilson shows from the text that not only is this book not an elaborate code, but that Revelation is not even ultimately concerned with the end of the world as we know it. Revelation is about the triumph of the Church, which always happens when the Man comes around.

Revelation Revealed by Dr. Paul A Vallee Pdf

In popular culture, the focus of the biblical book of Revelation has been on the identity of the antichrist and the end of the world. Though Revelation speaks to these issues, the book is primarily about Christ and how he addresses humanity’s enemies, including our greatest enemy, death. Revelation Revealed is an expository commentary that pushes through popular misconceptions and explains Revelation in a clear and engaging manner. Often viewed as a confusing book that is difficult to understand, filled with all kinds of incredible imagery, Revelation actually brings a message of hope in times of perplexity and crisis. In Revelation Revealed, Dr. Paul A. Vallee addresses the cultural background in which the ancient readers understood the text and shows the relevancy of that message to today’s readers. This book is the culmination of forty years of biblical study. The content was originally presented to a live audience over the course of twenty-six weeks. The response encouraged Dr. Vallee to put into print what the audience described as a positive message, clarifying and removing misunderstandings and fear by instilling hope in a world that, like the book of Revelation itself, is often confusing and overwhelming.
