I Almost Ruined My Marriage by Eno Jerry Pdf

At some point in my life, I prayed to God, believing that one day, I would be swept off my feet by my prince charming. I remember praying at a young age to be married to a man that loves God and has the fear of God in him. I knew what I wanted, or at best, I thought I knew what I wanted. Most times, we wish and pray for things without understanding that our wishes aren't as simple as they seem and may probably have their implications. To pray for a prince charming, you need to be a princess beauty. The prince charming also has expectations of his bride and you need to fit that mould. Without knowing it, I carried a lot of baggage into my marriage. This load of baggage was capable of ruining my marriage. Wait a minute, did I say capable of ruining my marriage? Scratch that. This load of baggage almost ruined my marriage. In Proverbs 14: 1, the Bible says, "a wise woman builds her home but a foolish woman tears it down with her hands." Did you notice what the Bible says in that Scripture? The foolish woman does not need any kind of help pulling down her home. She can do it all by herself. Her own actions or inaction are enough to completely ruin her home. At some point in my life, I was this foolish woman. I know this probably sounds shocking but 'foolish' was what I was at that time. Sadly, there abound many foolish women who have destroyed their marriages and homes. Some others are in the process of destroying their marriages. Some marriages are being endured rather than enjoyed. Some married people are struggling to put the pieces of their homes together while some feel that it can't be put back together again. It is unfortunate that some women are completely at a loss of what to do to save their ailing marriages. Some others who know what to do to save their homes allow pride stop them from doing it. My journey in the early years of marriage was quite painful and enduring. Nothing I knew seemed to make sense anymore. All the seemingly harmless habits I got away with in the course of my life as a single became a challenge in marriage. When you marry a near-perfect man like I did, your flaws become so glaring. The sad truth is that before I got married, I never considered these habits as flaws. Have you ever found yourself saying things like: "This is how I have always been and people accepted and liked me"? Have you also found yourself saying to your spouse, "Hey, you met me like this; why is this now a big deal"? Oh, I said this a thousand and one times. I just couldn't understand how anyone will want me to change. Who I was had taken me so many years to become, so why was I supposed to change just because I got married. Hmmm, that was a difficult one for me to crack. In this book, I will be sharing my journey so far, what I had to learn in the process and who I have become through my experiences.

Habits for a Healthy Marriage by Dr. Richard Fitzgibbons Pdf

Drawing on his experience of forty years as a psychiatrist, Dr. Richard Fitzgibbons presents twelve habits that can foster healing and growth in Catholic marriages. This books helps couples to identify and resolve the major emotional conflicts that weaken their relationships and hurt their marriages. Habits for a Healthy Marriage is unique because it draws on the field of positive psychology, which focuses on growth in virtues. Each chapter names a common marital problem along with a particular virtue that can help couples to overcome that problem. It shows that the road to healing is paved with forgiveness, not only between spouses but also within their families of origin. Along the way the author incorporates the luminous writing of Saint John Paul II on marriage and the timeless wisdom of the Catholic Church. Whether you are newly engaged, recently married, or married for many years, the conflict-resolving strategies described in this book—the habits of a healthy marriage—can help you to protect your relationship from the emotional storms that often lead to quarrelling and mistrust, and sometimes to separation and divorce.

An Angry Man's Guide to Personal Loss and Acceptance by Troy Alfeo Pdf

Don't be angry all the time! Sage advice for an Angry Man. Has uncontrollable rage driven away your children, led to your divorce, and left you alone, filled with remorse? Do you wonder if you will ever cope with your explosive rage, get through your pain, lead a physically healthy, emotionally positive, spiritual life? Like many middle-aged men who experienced alienation from their children or bitter divorce, Troy Alfeo shows that his personal tragedies could have been avoided if he had seen the patterns of his explosive rage and uncontrollable anger beforehand. He shows how years of such behavior eventually left him totally isolated, alone, and cut off from the ones he loved. He speaks frankly about the violence that he visited upon his loved ones and friends. This a book about anger so destructive that those he loved were forced to stay away from him out of fear. It is also a story about redemption and the attempts to repair these broken relationships. The author provides a road map back to normalcy, some cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as a number of positive steps you can incorporate in your life right now that will help you come to terms with your own inner Angry Man. The author recognizes the damage one's angry behavior causes to relationships and that it may not be repairable. The author maintains there are tools for dealing with this specific challenge, too, especially estrangement from one's own children. He provides practical, concise guidance on how to deal with this particular problem and notes that if you have suffered from it, the most difficult part of your journey back to normalcy may be that you might not ever see or hear from your children ever again. The author posits, "What are you going to do when that happens?" Troy Alfeo provides a solution that works for him. The author freely admits that although he is still a very Angry Man by temperament, it is now a beast under his control, not controlling him. He has successfully started on the road to anger management and has slowly begun to rekindle lost relationships with his estranged children. Succinct and to the point, Troy Alfeo discusses the following topics: Life has no "do-overs." If you have screwed up your family relationships, you are stuck with it. Own it and embrace it. Your life will be better for it. Angry emotions make you stupid. Don't believe it? Read what happened to Troy Alfeo when he interacted with his children under a dark cloud of rage. Your anger will alienate you from everyone. Put simply, people will not want to be around you, and they may even eventually come around to hate you. You might even get fired from your job. That happened to Troy Alfeo too. Did you even love your wife? No? Is that why you were angry? When did the emotional distance between you and your spouse begin? Do you know? Do your children hate you now? How do you fix and change that? Why divorce is the worst thing that could ever happen to your children. So avoid it! Coping strategies, to include developing a life of meaning and finding love again. Solutions for today that you wished you had known about yesterday. 118

A Good Morning America Recommended Book • A BuzzFeed Most Anticipated Book of the Year • A Lit Hub Most Anticipated Book of the Year • A Rumpus Most Anticipated Book of the Year • A Bustle Most Anticipated Book of the Month "A pathbreaking feminist manifesto, impossible to put down or dismiss. Gina Frangello tells the morally complex story of her adulterous relationship with a lover and her shortcomings as a mother, and in doing so, highlights the forces that shaped, silenced, and shamed her: everyday misogyny, puritanical expectations regarding female sexuality and maternal sacrifice, and male oppression." —Adrienne Brodeur, author of Wild Game Gina Frangello spent her early adulthood trying to outrun a youth marked by poverty and violence. Now a long-married wife and devoted mother, the better life she carefully built is emotionally upended by the death of her closest friend. Soon, awakened to fault lines in her troubled marriage, Frangello is caught up in a recklessly passionate affair, leading a double life while continuing to project the image of the perfect family. When her secrets are finally uncovered, both her home and her identity will implode, testing the limits of desire, responsibility, love, and forgiveness. Blow Your House Down is a powerful testimony about the ways our culture seeks to cage women in traditional narratives of self-sacrifice and erasure. Frangello uses her personal story to examine the place of women in contemporary society: the violence they experience, the rage they suppress, the ways their bodies often reveal what they cannot say aloud, and finally, what it means to transgress "being good" in order to reclaim your own life.

Understanding Angry Groups by Susan C. Cloninger,Steven A. Leibo Pdf

This book examines the dynamics that lead to anger in individuals, within groups, and between groups; identifies the role of the media in angry group behavior; and offers solutions for dealing with angry groups and channeling that negative energy in positive ways. In today's society, we see angry groups in many forms—from animal rights and climate crisis activists to citizens opposed to allowing more immigrants of certain ethnicities or religions into the country, militia groups frustrated by acts of domestic terrorism and legislation that limits gun ownership and the ability to carry weapons in public, and those outraged by what they see as police brutality or the unnecessary use of deadly force against people of color. More than just evidence of civil unrest in society, angry groups across history and nations often ultimately affect our politics and our government, for better or worse, and sometimes result in injury, bloodshed, or financial costs that hit otherwise-uninvolved taxpayers. This book demonstrates how people across our nation are involved in, affected by, or harmed by angry groups; covers historical and modern perspectives on angry groups; ands offers suggestions for predicting and influencing the expression of angry group behavior. It provides readers with an understanding of such conflicts and of their origins and dynamics that may offer insights to successful resolution, and it identifies strategies that can reduce the suffering that comes from such conflicts.
