Blocki Flute Method Teacher's Manual Book 2 by Kathy Blocki,Rebecca Hovan Pdf

This award-winning Teacher's Manual is essential for teaching the award-winning Blocki Flute Method Book 2. The manual begins by giving detailed instructions on to how use the Foundation Pages and the "fill-in-the-note" method for each new rhythm pattern, beginning with two beat eighth note patterns. The page-by-page instructions are filled with ideas such as using harmonics, practice techniques, creating variations, and historical insights. Also included are instructions for solving tone problems, and teaching techniques such as vibrato and double tonguing. As students progress through the keys of B-flat, FM, E-flat, CM, GM and DM each key is constantly reviewed with increasingly difficult rhythm patterns. When used with the Blocki Flute Method Supplementary Duet Book the students will have over 75 exciting duets to play. Each melody was meticulously chosen and placed to provide thorough and systematic review of difficulty finger changes. (ex.-The high G to A finger change is quite challenging, but when practiced in an engaging piece like Up on the House Tops, it seems to be easier to execute then when first encountered in difficult literature. Up on the House Tops provides over 20 high G-A finger changes in the space of three lines of music!) Enharmonic note spellings such as E-sharp and C-flat are often first encountered in difficult literature, making is hard for the student to know if they are making a mistake. The Blocki Flute Method introduces these new notes spellings in easy to recognize pieces such as Jingle Bells or Three Blind Mice to ensure that students can easily hear when they make a mistake and quickly correct it. The book includes: Il Est Ne (a French Carol), The Chase!, Austrian Folk Song, Silent Night, the beautiful Korean melody Airirang, Maple Leaf Rag, Bach Bouree, Russian Sailors's Dance, the fun "To Be or Not to Be", Theme from Master Piece Theatre (Mouret), Dona Nobis Pacem, Czech Dance?.and many more pieces!

The Blocki Flute Method's unique approach to teaching Five-Note patterns has proven to consistently help even the youngest students develop exceptional technical abilities. Five-note patterns are used as the foundation for teaching new notes, technique, moving between beat levels, simple transposition and fun and easy ear training. Because of the combination of a systematic approach to note reading, fun composition projects, ear training games, and basic theory, this book is also an excellent supplementary book for Suzuki students. As of August 2010: The Blocki Flute Method has been completely updated with the Third Edition. Listen to Samples Katelyn After One and a Half Years of Lessons - YouTube Video What's New in the Third Edition? After using the method for over 10 years, we knew which pieces the students loved and which one were just "okay." Anything that was just "okay" has been replaced with kid tested exciting pieces. There are many new duets and since students love trills we've included many more. These trills have transformed boring octave exercises into motivating pieces such as Half Pipe Stunts, Trampoline Tricks, and Bungee Jumping A's. Other new favorites include the Yankee Doodle Theme and Variations, The Sad Singing Swan, and the Daring Detective.

Blocki Flute Method Teacher's Manual Book 1 by Kathy Blocki Pdf

This 100-page award-winning manual explains the basic teaching concepts to be used with the Blocki Flute Method Book I for students. (The Blocki Flute Method Book I is an award-winning method designed to give the beginner an excellent foundation in beautiful tone, embouchure flexibility, rhythm and technique. This comprehensive and step-by-step approach was written to ensure success and also includes theory and composition projects.) Instructions of how to use the Pneumo Pro with beginning students, and how to incorporate the five-note patterns into the main body of the method book are included. The method is designed so students can play in both octaves without having to read the notes in both octaves. This is an incredibly important aspect of teaching beginners. Teaching flute is not like teaching trumpet in which the high notes are more difficult. High notes become difficult when students only play in the low and middle octaves for as much as one year. The students then have trouble with embouchure flexibility, and the ability to form a smaller lip opening. Because of the combination of a systematic approach to note reading, fun composition projects, fun ear training games, and basic theory, this book is also an excellent supplementary book for Suzuki teachers. Page-by-page instructions correlate with each section in the student book. This is also an exceptional text for university woodwind techniques classes, especially when used in combination with the Pneumo Pro/ DVD kit.

Blocki Flute Method Book 2 by Kathy Blocki,Rebecca Hovan Pdf

The award-winning Book 2 has been carefully designed to be versatile, so that it can be used after any beginning band method book. Each of the six key-based units (beginning with B-flat major) opens with a foundation page to be used throughout the unit, which includes scales, arpeggios, finger exercises, a flexibility exercise, and trills. Next, a new rhythm pattern is introduced using our "fill in the note value" approach to ensure correct understanding and execution. This method of teaching has been highly successful, especially with students who have had difficulty learning new rhythms. Each unit provides much systematic review so that the students can master the new rhythms and techniques. Often students learn to play a rhythm pattern in a piece, but cannot sight read that same rhythm in a new piece. This is like teaching students by rote to read "The Cat in the Hat" and then having to start all over when they pick up "Are You My Mother?" Our goal is that the students will quickly become excellent sight readers. Other features in this 97-page book include an abundance of duets and rounds, theory projects, transposition exercises, and composition pages. One of the most unique features of this method is the inclusion of the many composition projects which allow the students to be creative and "think outside the box" but, at the same time, to teach the basic concepts of music theory. Parameters are given as guidelines, and then "the sky's the limit!" After two years of sorting through thousands of melodies, only those that would both systematically help students to master new techniques and make students excited about practicing made it into the book.

In addition, the book includes original exercises such as "Debost's Scale Game," making it an excellent resource for flute teachers.
