The Right Ascensions and Declinations of the Catalogue are given for the Mean Epoch of Observation, reduced without Proper Motion to the Equinox 1865 '0. The Royal Observatory at the Cape of Good H0pe was established by an Order in Council dated 1820, October 20, but it was not until 1829 that the buildings and instruments were erected and regular observing was commenced.
