Chromium Oxidations in Organic Chemistry by G. Cainelli,G. Cardillo Pdf

Chromium oxidation, well known and widely explored in organic chemistry since the very beginning of this science, is a topic of current interest for the organic chemist as evidenced by the continuous development of new techni ques and procedures reported in the literature. Chromium oxidation is a simple process which can be easily performed in the laboratory and scaled up in industry as well. Although almost every oxidizable organic functional group may undergo chromium oxidation, the most important fields of appli cation are the oxidation of alcohols, allylic and benzylic oxidation, oxidative degradation and oxidation of some organometallic compounds. A high degree of selectivity is often possible by choosing the most suitable reagent among those several ones now available. This book takes account of the various functional groups that undergo oxidation and the entire literature up to 1982. It has been written in the hope to help the synthetic organic chemist in his experimental work. For this purpose a number of tables comprising yields and references have been included; detailed descriptions of typical procedures are meant to show the experimental conditions and the scope of the reactions. We wish to thank Dr. Mario Orena for his valuable scientific and technical assistence and Prof. Bruno Camerino, who read the entire manuscript and corrected many of the errors. Chromium -VI Reagents: Synthetic Applications by S. Sundaram,P.S. Raghavan Pdf

Chromic acid and chromium oxide are the two versatile Cr(VI) oxidants known to organic chemists for decades. The introduction of the Core's reagent , viz: pyridinium chlorochromate, in 1975 followed by the publications on several Cr(VI) oxidizing agents containing the -onium chromates and halochromates in the last three decades have very much changed the chemistry of oxidations with Chromium VI. Several of these new reagents have been shown to be mild so that they can be handled easily and the reacton products may also be controlled. Some of them are highly selective oxidants for positions like allylic hydroxylic group, etc., and some other are highly regioselective. The information on more than 36 such reagents reported in various internationally reputed journals spanning about 280 references have been collected and provided in this book in such a manner that it will be very useful for professionals, researchers, teachers and graduate students working in organic synthesis.

Methods for Oxidation of Organic Compounds V2 by Alan Haines Pdf

Methods for the Oxidation of Organic Compounds: Alcohols, Alcohol Derivatives, Alkyl Halides, Nitroalkanes, Alkyl Azides, Carbonyl Compounds, Hydroxyarenes and Aminoarenes describes the different methods used for the controlled oxidation of alcohols, alcohol derivatives, alkyl halides, nitroalkanes, alkyl azides, carbonyl compounds, hydroxyarenes, and aminoarenes. Most of the oxidative techniques considered are illustrated with detailed experimental procedures taken from the literature. This book is comprised of eight chapters and begins with a discussion on the oxidation of alcohols, with particular emphasis on the formation of carbonyl compounds and carboxylic acids. The following chapters focus on the oxidation of esters and alkyl halides; ethers, acetals, and metal derivatives of alcohols; amines, nitro compounds, and azides; carbonyl compounds; 1,2-diols and related compounds; and hydroxyarenes, aminoarenes, dihydroxyarenes, diaminoarenes, and aminohydroxyarenes. Methods such as catalytic oxidation, catalytic dehydrogenation, and electrochemical and biochemical oxidation are mentioned. This monograph should be of interest to organic chemists and research students.

Advanced Organic Chemistry by Francis A. Carey,Richard J. Sundberg Pdf

The control of reactivity to achieve specific syntheses is one of the overarching goals of organic chemistry. In the decade since the publication of the third edition, major advances have been made in the development of efficient new methods, particularly catalytic processes, and in means for control of reaction stereochemistry. This volume assumes a level of familiarity with structural and mechanistic concepts comparable to that in the companion volume, Part A, Structures and Mechanisms. Together, the two volumes are intended to provide the advanced undergraduate or beginning graduate student in chemistry with a sufficient foundation to comprehend and use the research literature in organic chemistry. The New Revised 5th Edition will be available shortly. For details, click on the link in the right-hand column.

Catalytic Oxidation Reagents by Philip L. Fuchs Pdf

The Handbook is part of the Handbook of Reagents for Organic Chemistry series, aiming at collecting articles on a particular theme that individual researchers in academia or industry can use on a daily basis. The Handbook starts with a section discussing the most important aspects of heteroarene functionalization. The introduction is followed by the alphabetical listing of the most relevant reagents drawn from the EROS database. The Editor, André Charette from the University of Montreal, has selected 120 reagent descriptions, many of them updated with heteroarene-specific reactions for this Handbook. Following the standard format for EROS, each article contains an overview of the synthesis and physical properties of the reagents or catalyst, conditions for its storage, and purification methods. Given the importance of heteroarenes in biology and especially in medicinal chemistry, a Handbook that focuses exclusively on heteroarene functionalization has been long overdue. This Handbook will have a broad appeal to many individuals engaged in the area of medicinal chemistry, fine chemical synthesis and industrial-scale chemistry. Key features: Builds on the success of the previously published Handbooks of Reagents for Organic Synthesis Compares the numerous new C-H functionalization reactions that have been developed in the past decade Heteroarene functionalization is widely used in the development of pharmaceuticals and other bioactive compounds Contains listings of secondary reagents for which more information is available in the online edition
