Changing the Game by John O'Sullivan Pdf

The modern day youth sports environment has taken the enjoyment out of athletics for our children. Currently, 70% of kids drop out of organized sports by the age of 13, which has given rise to a generation of overweight, unhealthy young adults. There is a solution. John O’Sullivan shares the secrets of the coaches and parents who have not only raised elite athletes, but have done so by creating an environment that promotes positive core values and teaches life lessons instead of focusing on wins and losses, scholarships, and professional aspirations. Changing the Game gives adults a new paradigm and a game plan for raising happy, high performing children, and provides a national call to action to return youth sports to our kids.

Go Ahead and Break Your Child's Heart by Bob Springer Pdf

"Go Ahead and Break Your Child's Heart" is a hard-to-love quote, much less the title of a Coach's book. Simply said, this book is designed to provide parents and leaders of student athletes with a considerable advantage as they manage their child's life in the Middle School and High School eras. The book also goes right at parents and their "new age inclination" to manage every aspect of their child's life during these developmental years. "Back Home at Last," the initial fiction story, is written in "coach talk" and it sets up the need for parents to complete, study and dive into the Learning Considerations portion of the book...where you are ask to make important decisions about your style of leadership. In "Lessons Learned," the closing fiction section, you will learn that "raising a child can be rewarding and successful." Yes, inside every good child is a great child! Coach Bob Springer has recently retired from Coaching High School football in Ohio and West Virginia school systems, just before his 69th birthday. Fresh out of Marietta College in 1964, he coached for five years before joining the Corporate World with Allstate Financial. Following his retirement in 1996 from Allstate, a return to coaching was "an automatic career decision" per Coach Springer. It was his "second time around" in the coaching ranks and for Bob it was another great learning experience. From '96 until 2011, Coach Springer was involved with State Championship teams, Coach of the Year Honors and a very haunting losing season. Coach strongly states, "he learned so much more about parents and students" his second time around as a high school coach. In Bob's view, successful parental leadership is the key to winning lives or losing lives. Coach Springer demands "parents not be managed by their children" and he alleges that far too many parents miss the target with disciplinary processes. Remainder of Biographical Information Please read the section of the book "Words from Bob Springer." This section was written before I wrote the book...to me it is the core section, and I chose it to be used as the expanded Biographical Information.

Just Let the Kids Play by Bob Bigelow,Tom Moroney,Linda Hall Pdf

"Bob's message is a must for all parents and coaches. He challenges adults to understand their effect on youngsters, and that kids' needs have to be met first." Bob Trupin, Westport, CT This is not just another book touting improved sportsmanship and better coaching to remedy the violence in youth sports today. Just Let the Kids Play is the first book to identify the youth sports systems as the cause of the problem, and offers practical ways to rebuild them so they better serve the physical and emotional needs of children. First-round NBA draft pick, part-time NBA scout and youth coach Bob Bigelow joins journalists Tom Moroney and Linda Hall to put youth sports under harsh review. They explain the controversial belief that elite traveling teams at young ages should be abolished and replaced with equal playing time, team parity and shortened seasons, among others. Focusing on soccer, basketball, baseball and hockey, they highlight ten programs nationwide where these principles are working, and offer ways to integrate them into existing programs without sacrificing a child's chances for success. Soccer moms and hockey dads will discover that it really is possible to sleep in on Saturdays without sacrificing their child's future!
