Multicultural Education by James A. Banks,Cherry A. McGee Banks Pdf

As diversity continues to increase in the United States, ethnic, cultural, social-class, and linguistic gaps are widening between teachers and their students. The rapidly changing educational landscape presents unique challenges and opportunities for addressing diversity both creatively and constructively in schools. Multicultural Education helps current and future educators fully understand sophisticated concepts of culture; become more effective practitioners in diverse classrooms; and view race, class, gender, social class, and exceptionality as intersectional concepts. Now in its tenth edition, this bestselling textbook assists educators to effectively respond to the ways race, social class, and gender interact to influence student behavior and learning. Contributions from leading authorities in multicultural education discuss the effects of class and religion on education; differences in educational opportunities for male, female, and LGBTQ students; and issues surrounding non-native English speakers, students of color, and students with disabilities. Contemporary in relevance, this timely volume promotes multicultural education as a process of school reform. Practical advice helps teachers increase student academic achievement, work effectively with parents, improve classroom assessment, and benefit from diversity.

Educational Digital Transformation: New Technological Challenges for Competence Development by Julio Cabero Almenara,Carmen Llorente Cejudo,Antonio Palacios-Rodriguez Pdf

The COVID-19 pandemic has provided a unique opportunity to examine our understanding of the opportunities and challenges that ICTs offer to support the functioning of all aspects of education. The closure of educational institutions has forced a radical change in the practices of teachers and societies regarding the use of ICT to support teaching, learning, social relations and work in many sectors. In the training of digital skills, the instrumental mastery of ICT continues to outweigh the preparation of citizens to make constructive and safe use of technologies. After two decades of educational policies, we continue to reduce digital literacy to instrumental skills. That is, you do not learn why to use educational technologies and how, or to be critical of their use. Education 4.0 seeks to develop and enhance the digital skills of students and teachers in digital teaching environments, through the creation of a line of academic training programs for undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education. This article collection welcomes contributions to improve training policies and practices in Educational Digital Transformation for educational development (strategies, activities, proposals for assessment and certification of skills).

Proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ICTVET 2022) by Ambiyar,Unung Verawardina,Oskah Dakhi Pdf

This is an open access book. Indonesia, as a member of ASEAN, is now facing the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2016. The AEC will support the ASEAN’s transformation into a region that guarantees free movement of goods, services, capital, and skilled labors. This will make ASEAN an even more dynamic and competitive region. In preparation for the AEC, the ASEAN member countries have ventured to improve the comparability and connectivity of their TVET systems. As an important component of human resources development, TVET is expected to play an active role in preparing the successful EAC. The implications of technological, economic and social trends are intervening factors that refine pedagogical strategies, leading to the molding of TVET as a more effective platform to catalyze pragmatic approaches to prepare the workforce for the new imperatives of the world of work. Regional integration and harmonization of TVET in the region have become key concerns and at the same time the strength of the ASEAN region. They are considered the overarching interventions needed in TVET to address major issues and challenges.

Setting Performance Standards by Gregory J. Cizek Pdf

Setting standards of performance is a ubiquitous task in education licensure, certification, and credentialling. It is found in elementary schooling, the professions, commercial applications, and governmental and private organizations. It is one of the most complex, controversial, and vexing issues facing specialists and policy makers today. This second edition solidifies Setting Performance Standards as the only book providing a comprehensive profile of both the issues and the "how-to" methods that define this thorny field. Four chapters have been removed; 11 chapters have been added; 2 chapters have major revisions; and all chapters have been updated. Comprehensive – Part I provides a conceptual overview of standard setting and its overarching issues; Part II provides practical (how-to) information on the newest standard setting methods; Part III provides information and advice on persistent and potential challenges in standard setting. Practical – Part II (the heart of the book) reviews 16 of the newest standard setting methods, far more than any other book. Expertise – Most of the well-known authors from the 1st edition return, with authors of equal stature contributing new chapters.
