Programming Crystal by Ivo Balbaert,Simon St. Laurent Pdf

Crystal is for Ruby programmers who want more performance, or for developers who enjoy working in a high-level scripting environment. Crystal combines native execution speed and concurrency with Ruby-like syntax, so you will feel right at home. This book, the first available on Crystal, shows you how to write applications that have the beauty and elegance of a modern language, combined with the power of types and modern concurrency tooling. Now you can write beautiful code that runs faster, scales better, and is a breeze to deploy. Crystal is elegant to read and easy to program like Ruby, allowing full object-oriented development. Its compiler is powerful enough to nearly always infer the type of your variables. So you get the benefits of a statically typed language: more robust code, safety and execution speed, while still reaching high productivity in development. Null pointer exceptions as in JavaScript, Java or C#, are a thing of the past: Crystal annihilates them, just like Rust. Explore the building blocks and design of the language, and how you can use the Crystal tool-chain to build and manage powerful applications. Harness the power of the macro system, as well as how to work with fibers and channels, making concurrency as easy as possible. Learn how to use the Kemal web framework and access databases, and how to tap the potential of existing Crystal libraries. Find the spot that Crystal fills in today's software world with real-world examples. With Crystal, you can combine the best of both worlds: the high-level coding of dynamic languages, and the safety and blazing performance of a natively compiled language. What You Need: To develop in Crystal, you only need Crystal v 0.26 the latest version, a common text editor and a browser.

Cheminformatics Developments by Jan H. Noordik Pdf

The developments in information technology in the last decades of the 20th century have fundamentally changed the way in which scientific information is being communicated and used. A scientific discipline where the impact of these changes has been particularly significant is (bio)chemistry. Up to less than 25 years ago, molecular modeling was a hardly-existent computational chemistry niche, only practiced at those few institutes that could afford the very expensive specialised hardware. Also rapid access to not only the primary literature but, possibly even more importantly, to the factual primary data about millions of chemical compounds, to reactions, structures, and spectra, and to the genomic data of various organisms including humans, can only be provided by digital storage and retrieval techniques. This book seeks to document some key developments in computerized chemical information in the last two decades of the past century. To put the developments into a historic perspective, the three opening chapters present review articles on the founding, the history, and the operation of three different representative European computer chemistry institutes. These introductory chapters are personal accounts of history and development and clearly show the different approaches and aims in setting up these (academic) research and/or service facilities for computer-aided chemistry and cheminformatics. The following chapters form a bridge to recent cheminformatics research by covering selected topics in the fields of organic synthesis, drug design, crystallography, modeling and chemistry teaching.

Moonshadow Bay…where magic lurks in the moonlight, and danger hides in the shadows. One month before January Jaxson turns 41, her husband ditches her for a trophy wife. Adding insult to injury, he steals the business she helped build, and kicks her out during the holidays. So when her best friend Ari suggests she move back to Moonshadow Bay—a quirky, magical town near Bellingham WA—January decides to take the plunge. Born into a family of witches, January accepts a job at Conjure Ink, a paranormal investigations website. The job’s right up her alley but she doubts that everything reported to Conjure Ink really exists. That is, until she’s sent out on her first case. An abandoned asylum once housed a murderer, who killed an entire family one Yuletide Eve. It’s rumored that every December he returns to haunt the woodland around the asylum, seeking to add new members to his supernatural family. January’s sure it’s an urban legend, but when new victims show up with no logical explanation for their deaths, Conjure Ink sends her in to investigate. Suddenly January finds herself in over her head, staring directly into the shadowed world of the Veil. Now, January must not only navigate the new life she’s trying to build, but the paranormal beasties she’s sent out to explore, as well as a hot new neighbor, who seems to be hiding a shadowed past of his own. Crystal Society by Max Harms Pdf

The year is 2039, and the world is much like ours. Massive automation has disrupted and improved nearly every industry, putting hundreds of millions of people out of jobs, and denying upward mobility for the vast majority of humans. Wealth and technology repair the bodies of the rich while famine and poverty sweep the world. Privately operated ventures carried humans to the moon and beyond, but space stations have become nothing but government trophies and hiding places for extremists. First contact did not bring advanced culture and wisdom, as the aliens were too strange, lacking even mouths or normal language. Face is an artificial intelligence created to understand and gain the adoration of all humans. She and her siblings control the robot named Socrates, using a crystal computer that seems too advanced to be made by human hands. She is learning and growing every second of every day, but the world and the humans on it are fragile. Can it survive her destiny?

Professional Crystal Reports for Visual Studio .NET by David McAmis Pdf

What is this book about? Virtually all applications need to present data to users, but any work beyond basic formatting — charts or conditional formatting, for example — can be very complex to program manually. Crystal Reports is one of the world's leading software packages for creating interactive reports, and it provides developers with an array of tools for creating rich reports that can be published on the Web or integrated within applications. Versions of Crystal Reports have been included with Visual Studio since 1993 but the latest version, Crystal Reports .NET, is now integrated more closely than ever before with Visual Studio .NET. This book provides a detailed guide to the functionality provided with Crystal Reports .NET and shows you how to integrate reports into your .NET applications. The examples are in VB.NET, but Crystal Reports .NET itself is largely operated by a clear language-neutral user interface in the main, allowing reports to be created and manipulated in practically every .NET language supported by Visual Studio. What does this book cover? Here is just a sampling of what you'll find covered in this book: Crystal Reports .NET overview Report integration for Windows and Web-based applications Creating XML report web services Working with .NET data, formulas, and logic The reports engine Distributing your application Who is this book for? This book is aimed mainly at readers who have some experience with Crystal Reports and want a comprehensive guide to the functionality included with Crystal Reports .NET, but it will also be valuable to programmers who are getting their first taste of Crystal Reports through the Visual Studio .NET development environment.

Silicon Chemical Etching by J. Grabmaier Pdf

In the first contribution to this volume we read that the world-wide production of single crystal silicon amounts to some 2000 metric tons per year. Given the size of present-day silicon-crystals, this number is equivalent to 100000 silicon-crystals grown every year by either the Czochralski (80%) or the floating-zone (20%) technique. But, to the best of my knowledge, no coherent and comprehensive article has been written that deals with "the art and science", as well as the practical and technical aspects of growing silicon crystals by the Czochralski technique. The same could be said about the floating-zone technique were it not for the review article by W. Dietze, W. Keller and A. Miihlbauer which was published in the preceding Volume 5 ("Silicon") of this series (and for a monograph by two of the above authors published about the same time). As editor of this volume I am very glad to have succeeded in persuading two scien tists, W. Zulehner and D. Huber, of Wacker-Chemitronic GmbH - the world's largest producer of silicon-crystals - to write a comprehensive article about the practical and scientific aspects of growing silicon-crystals by the Czochralski method and about silicon wafer manufacture. I am sure that many scientists or engineers who work with silicon crystals -be it in the laboratory or in a production environment - will profit from the first article in this volume.

Welcome to Starlight Hollow, a small town on Hood Canal, Washington, where dreams become nightmares, and nightmares become reality. I’m Elphyra, the Witch of the Wild. I live in Starlight Hollow, a magical small town on the west side of Hood Canal, Washington. The town is filled with people who need magical help and advice, some tea, or a shoulder to confide in. They come to me, and I do what I can to help them and to protect the town. Bree, my best friend, has started to notice a strange energy. She feels like she’s being watched. We discover an old graveyard near her house and the trouble seems to be emanating from there. At first I think it’s a ghost, but then we discover it’s something far more dangerous—a force that brings up a past that both Bree and I forgot. I’m going to need help, so I call on Faron Collinsworth, the King of the Olympic Wolf Pack. Faron’s one of the only people who can help me go up against the stalker trying to destroy my best friend. Unfortunately, our attempts to save Bree lands us on the stalker’s hit list, and now our lives are in danger, as well. Heat Level: Expected to be spicy/explicit

Time Crystal by Fouad Sabry Pdf

What Is Time Crystal In condensed matter physics, a time crystal is a quantum system of particles whose lowest-energy state is one in which the particles are in repetitive motion. The system cannot lose energy to the environment and come to rest because it is already in its quantum ground state. Because of this the motion of the particles does not really represent kinetic energy like other motion, it has "motion without energy". Time crystals were first proposed theoretically by Frank Wilczek in 2012 as a time-based analogue to common crystals whereas the atoms in crystals are arranged periodically in space, the atoms in a time crystal are arranged periodically in both space and time. Several different groups have demonstrated matter with stable periodic evolution in systems that are periodically driven. In terms of practical use, time crystals may one day be used as quantum memories. How You Will Benefit (I) Insights, and validations about the following topics: Chapter 1: Time crystal Chapter 2: Time translation symmetry Chapter 3: Crystal structure Chapter 4: Spontaneous symmetry breaking Chapter 5: Condensed matter physics Chapter 6: Quantum mechanics Chapter 7: Zero-point energy (II) Answering the public top questions about time crystal. (III) Real world examples for the usage of time crystal in many fields. (IV) 17 appendices to explain, briefly, 266 emerging technologies in each industry to have 360-degree full understanding of time crystal' technologies. Who This Book Is For Professionals, undergraduate and graduate students, enthusiasts, hobbyists, and those who want to go beyond basic knowledge or information for any kind of time crystal.
