The snail-sized sin habits that slither undetected in the shadows and eat up our lives from the inside out. This book is about the sins that nag us, resist our spiritual treatments, and persist beyond all our measures to contain them. The subtle sins. The respectable and acceptable sins. The resilient and relentless sins. The diehard sins. Learn how you can enter into your struggle against destructive daily habits, understand your needs in the right, and bring Christ and His provisions to bear upon your beliefs and desires-equipping yourself to gradually kill the unkillable. "Not committing murder: check! Not committing adultery: check! Not being lazy.... Not being gluttonous.... Not being inconsiderate or insensitive.... Come on! Everybody does those! What does God really expect? He expects us to be killing sin, or it will kill us—both the big, obvious sins as well as the commonplace, familiar sins. And those subtle, elusive sins often slip most easily into our character without our knowing it—making them the hardest to kill of all. Here pastor and counselor Rush Witt introduces you to this problem of diehard sins and provides a helpful doctrine of sin in general, before laying out a method for change. Learn how you can enter into your struggle against destructive daily habits, understand your needs in the fight, and bring Christ and his provisions to bear upon your beliefs and desires—equipping yourself to gradually kill the slippery sins that seem so unkillable."--Publisher.

'Sin Less' focuses on the sin nature and selfishness against which every Christian struggles--a subject more often avoided than brought into focus. But with this truthful assessment, the author gives helpful, Biblical guides for strengthening one's relationship with God, and getting real victory over the "Dark Guest." Most important for us, is its application to everyday life, and its challenge to be serious about personal holiness. --Jim Cummin, Life To Life Ministry 'Sin Less' challenges you to look deep within your own heart and examine your own sinfulness in the light of Christ's goodness. It encourages and guides you to live a life with the hope that as you trust in Christ you can have victory over your sin. --Deborah Bartow, Training and Support Manager for Wycliffe Associates
58 Minutes (Basis for the Film Die Hard 2) by Walter Wager Pdf
After Die Hard blew the doors off movie theaters, there was no doubt that Bruce Willis’s one-man-army of a cop would hit the big screen again, even harder. And Die Hard 2 made it happen—doubling down on the explosive action. And just like the original blockbuster, the sensational sequel leaped from the pages of a suspense master’s pulse-pounding novel... A massive blizzard has shut down nearly every East Coast airport, stranding travelers on the ground and in the air. But those circling the skies above New York’s Kennedy Airport have far more to worry about than missed connections. When the control tower’s radar suddenly goes dark, a mysterious caller known only as “Number One” announces that the countdown to terror has begun. Nineteen planes, and their helpless passengers, are now airborne hostages—in the ruthless hands of a dangerous man on a deadly mission. And if the U.S. government doesn’t bow to his demands, hell will rain from above as one jetliner after another exhausts its fuel... and plunges to earth. With only 58 minutes between life and death, there may be nothing anyone can do...except one New York City cop, with nerves of steel, attitude to burn, and a reputation for being hard on crime—and even harder to kill.

Unfortunately, her mother, Duchess Flora Byrne, happens to be the most powerful woman in the country, and she's just switched sides in the war. As an enemy army threatens the convent, led by a brutal warrior who mocks everything Morwen believes in, young Edwin Sigor, the rightful king, struggles to hold together his fragile coalition with Duchess Flora. If only his wayward sister could be more help. And if only his uncle weren't such a terrible general. Change is coming to Morwen and her little cloistered community, but old habits die hard.
Nearly all scholars divide Genesis into primeval and patriarchal history, though they debate the precise point of division. One reason advanced to justify the division is a thematic shift. In primeval history, the narrator focuses on the origin and spread of sin, as well as God's consequent curse and judgment on humanity. In patriarchal history, however, the spread of sin theme falls off the radar of most scholars. But these analyses of the primeval and patriarchal narratives are simplistic and inaccurate. In fact, the theme of human sin and the divine curse not only serve as the main themes of the Fall narrative, but they also continue to function as major themes in both the primeval and patriarchal narratives that follow. More particularly, human sin appears to increase at both individual and societal levels. Moreover, just as the primordial sin threatened to derail the advance of God's kingdom and fulfillment of the creation mandate, so the spread of human sin in postlapsarian history threatens to thwart God's redemptive plan, which consists in the restoration of his original creational intentions for divine and human eschatological fullness. This proves true even in the patriarchal narratives where the sins of God's chosen often threaten the very promise intended for their ultimate good. These facts, which the author attempts to demonstrate in the monograph, not only have important ramifications for the unity of the Genesis corpus, but they also have important implications for the doctrines of sin, justification, and sanctification.

The world today regards the Europeans as the fathers of Science and Technology and those who brought Light to the Black race. But if history says that civilization began in Africa, is it not correct to say that it was the Black race that taught the world Science and Technology? - Were the Blacks not the first Emperors of the world? - Is it not on record that at a point in human history, Africans were the most intelligent and the best instructed people in the world? - When the Europeans came to Africa, did they not see the Al-Azhur University in Egypt, University of Fez in Morocco and the University of Timbuktu in Mali? These and many more are the salient questions that this book bring to bare scientifically, historically and biblically.
The Seven Sins of Memory by Daniel L. Schacter Pdf
A New York Times Notable Book: A psychologist’s “gripping and thought-provoking” look at how and why our brains sometimes fail us (Steven Pinker, author of How the Mind Works). In this intriguing study, Harvard psychologist Daniel L. Schacter explores the memory miscues that occur in everyday life, placing them into seven categories: absent-mindedness, transience, blocking, misattribution, suggestibility, bias, and persistence. Illustrating these concepts with vivid examples—case studies, literary excerpts, experimental evidence, and accounts of highly visible news events such as the O. J. Simpson verdict, Bill Clinton’s grand jury testimony, and the search for the Oklahoma City bomber—he also delves into striking new scientific research, giving us a glimpse of the fascinating neurology of memory and offering “insight into common malfunctions of the mind” (USA Today). “Though memory failure can amount to little more than a mild annoyance, the consequences of misattribution in eyewitness testimony can be devastating, as can the consequences of suggestibility among pre-school children and among adults with ‘false memory syndrome’ . . . Drawing upon recent neuroimaging research that allows a glimpse of the brain as it learns and remembers, Schacter guides his readers on a fascinating journey of the human mind.” —Library Journal “Clear, entertaining and provocative . . . Encourages a new appreciation of the complexity and fragility of memory.” —The Seattle Times “Should be required reading for police, lawyers, psychologists, and anyone else who wants to understand how memory can go terribly wrong.” —The Atlanta Journal-Constitution “A fascinating journey through paths of memory, its open avenues and blind alleys . . . Lucid, engaging, and enjoyable.” —Jerome Groopman, MD “Compelling in its science and its probing examination of everyday life, The Seven Sins of Memory is also a delightful book, lively and clear.” —Chicago Tribune Winner of the William James Book Award
