Differential Forms on Electromagnetic Networks by N. V. Balasubramanian,J. W. Lynn,D. P. Sen Gupta Pdf

Differential Forms on Electromagnetic Networks deals with the use of combinatorial techniques in electrical circuit, machine analysis, and the relationship between circuit quantities and electromagnetic fields. The monograph is also an introduction to the organization of field equations by the methods of differential forms. The book covers topics such as algebraic structural relations in an electric circuit; mesh and node-pair analysis; exterior differential structures; generalized Stoke's theorem and tensor analysis; and Maxwell's electromagnetic equation. Also covered in the book are the applications for the field network model; oscillatory behavior of electric machines; and the rotation tensor in machine differential structures. The text is recommended for engineering students who would like to be familiarized with electromagnetic networks and its related topics.

Differential Forms in Electromagnetics by Ismo V. Lindell Pdf

An introduction to multivectors, dyadics, and differential forms for electrical engineers While physicists have long applied differential forms to various areas of theoretical analysis, dyadic algebra is also the most natural language for expressing electromagnetic phenomena mathematically. George Deschamps pioneered the application of differential forms to electrical engineering but never completed his work. Now, Ismo V. Lindell, an internationally recognized authority on differential forms, provides a clear and practical introduction to replacing classical Gibbsian vector calculus with the mathematical formalism of differential forms. In Differential Forms in Electromagnetics, Lindell simplifies the notation and adds memory aids in order to ease the reader's leap from Gibbsian analysis to differential forms, and provides the algebraic tools corresponding to the dyadics of Gibbsian analysis that have long been missing from the formalism. He introduces the reader to basic EM theory and wave equations for the electromagnetic two-forms, discusses the derivation of useful identities, and explains novel ways of treating problems in general linear (bi-anisotropic) media. Clearly written and devoid of unnecessary mathematical jargon, Differential Forms in Electromagnetics helps engineers master an area of intense interest for anyone involved in research on metamaterials.

Electromagnetic Theory and Computation by Paul W. Gross,P. Robert Kotiuga Pdf

This book explores the connection between algebraic structures in topology and computational methods for 3-dimensional electric and magnetic field computation. The connection between topology and electromagnetism has been known since the 19th century, but there has been little exposition of its relevance to computational methods in modern topological language. This book is an effort to close that gap. It will be of interest to people working in finite element methods for electromagnetic computation and those who have an interest in numerical and industrial applications of algebraic topology.

Large Engineering Systems documents the proceedings of the International Symposium held at the University of Manitoba, Canada on August 9-12, 1976. This book compiles papers on the technology of large engineering systems. The topics discussed include the analysis of an automobile body by finite element method; finite-element solution of boundary integral equations; optimum design of stiffened plate girders; and tuning of miniaturized analog hybrid circuits. The sparsity in large systems and trans-shipment problems; finite difference method with graded lattices; Kron's multidimensional electromagnetic networks; and analyses of large systems are also deliberated. This text likewise covers the transient phenomena in large electrical power systems; modeling for regional electric power supply system; and efficient method for reliability evaluation of large-scale systems. This publication is a good source for engineers who intend to acquire knowledge on large-scale engineering systems.

Hamiltonian Dynamics by Gaetano Vilasi Pdf

This is both a textbook and a monograph. It is partially based on a two-semester course, held by the author for third-year students in physics and mathematics at the University of Salerno, on analytical mechanics, differential geometry, symplectic manifolds and integrable systems. As a textbook, it provides a systematic and self-consistent formulation of Hamiltonian dynamics both in a rigorous coordinate language and in the modern language of differential geometry. It also presents powerful mathematical methods of theoretical physics, especially in gauge theories and general relativity. As a monograph, the book deals with the advanced research topic of completely integrable dynamics, with both finitely and infinitely many degrees of freedom, including geometrical structures of solitonic wave equations. Contents: Analytical Mechanics: The Lagrangian Coordinates; Hamiltonian Systems; Transformation Theory; The Integration Methods; Basic Ideas of Differential Geometry: Manifolds and Tangent Spaces; Differential Forms; Integration Theory; Lie Groups and Lie Algebras; Geometry and Physics: Symplectic Manifolds and Hamiltonian Systems; The Orbits Method; Classical Electrodynamics; Integrable Field Theories: KdV Equation; General Structures; Meaning and Existence of Recursion Operators; Miscellanea; Integrability of Fermionic Dynamics. Readership: Physicists and mathematicians.

Electromagnetic Field Computation by Network Methods by Leopold B. Felsen,Mauro Mongiardo,Peter Russer Pdf

In this monograph, the authors propose a systematic and rigorous treatment of electromagnetic field representations in complex structures. The architecture suggested in this book accommodates use of different numerical methods as well as alternative Green's function representations in each of the subdomains resulting from a partitioning of the overall problem. The subdomains are regions of space where electromagnetic energy is stored and are described in terms of equivalent circuit representations based either on lumped element circuits or on transmission lines. Connection networks connect the subcircuits representing the subdomains. The connection networks are lossless, don't store energy and represent the overall problem topology. This is similar to what is done in circuit theory and permits a phrasing of the solution of EM field problems in complex structures by Network-oriented methods.

Fields, Networks, Computational Methods, and Systems in Modern Electrodynamics by Peter Russer,Mauro Mongiardo Pdf

On June 1St 2004 the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the Technische Universitat Miinchen bestowed the degree of the doctor honoris causa to Leopold B. Felsen, for extraordinary achievements in the theory of electromag netic fields. On this occasion on June 1St and 2nd 2004 at the Technische Universitat Miinchen a symposium on "Fields, Networks, Computational Methods, and Systems: A Modern View of Engineering Electrodynamics" in honor of Leopold B. Felsen was organized. The symposium topic focused on an important area of Leopold Felsen research interests and, as the title emphasizes, on a modern view of applied Electro dynamics. While the fundamental physical laws of electrodynamics are well known, research in this field is experiencing a steady continuous growth. The problem -solving approaches of, say, twenty years ago may seem now fairly obsolete since considerable progress has been made in the meantime. In this monograph we collect samples of present day state of the art in dealing with electromagnetic fields, their network theory representation, their computation and, finally, on system applications. The network formulation of field problems can improve the problem formulation and also contribute to the solution methodology. Network theory systematic approaches for circuit analysis are based on the separation of the circuit into the connection circuit and the circuit elements. Many applications in science and technology rely on computations of the electromagnetic field in either man-made or natural complex structures.

Qualitative Simulation Modeling and Analysis by Paul A. Fishwick,Paul A. Luker Pdf

Recently there has been considerable interest in qualitative methods in simulation and mathematical model- ing. Qualitative Simulation Modeling and Analysis is the first book to thoroughly review fundamental concepts in the field of qualitative simulation. The book will appeal to readers in a variety of disciplines including researchers in simulation methodology, artificial intelligence and engineering. This book boldly attempts to bring together, for the first time, the qualitative techniques previously found only in hard-to-find journals dedicated to single disciplines. The book is written for scientists and engineers interested in improving their knowledge of simulation modeling. The "qualitative" nature of the book stresses concepts of invariance, uncertainty and graph-theoretic bases for modeling and analysis.
