The stocks taken over were to be paid for by the Office of Products of the Soil in cash at the prices fixed for the purchase of these grains. The Office of Products of the Soil was also given authority to regulate the sale of grains in various parts of the country through the establishment of maximum selling prices and specifications covering quali ties and varieties needed to supply the local markets. _1he selling prices of the ordinary kinds of grains in most districts are the same as those fixed for purchases by the Government agency, but in ceitain out lying districts they are higher. In some cases, prices of flour are also fixed on the basis of the cost price of stocks of wheat held by the mills. Likewise, changes in bread prices are necessitated. An increase of 26 percent is reported in Istanbul, and similar advances were made in other parts of the country.
