This volume contains the papers presented at 6th Conference on Geometric Modeling and Processing (GMP 2010) held in Castro Urdiales, Spain during June16–18,2010. GeometricModelingandProcessingisabiannualinternational conference series on geometric modeling, simulation and computing. Previously, GMPhasbeenheldinHongKong(2000),Saitama,Japan(2002),Beijing,China (2004), Pittsburgh, USA (2006) and Hangzhou, China (2008). GMP 2010 received a total of 30 submissions that were reviewed by three to four Program Committee members on average. While the number of subm- sions dropped signi?cantly from previous years, the quality did not and was still quite high overall. Based on the reviews received, the committee decided to - cept 20 papers for inclusion in the proceedings. Additionally, extended versions of selected papers were considered for a special issue of Computer-Aided - sign (CAD) and Computer-Aided Geometric Design (CAGD). The paper topics spanned a wide variety and include: – Solutions of transcendental equations – Volume parameterization – Smooth curves and surfaces – Isogeometric analysis – Implicit surfaces – Computational geometry Many people helped make this conference happen and we are grateful for their help. We would especially like to thank the Conference Chair, all of the authors who submitted papers, the ProgramCommittee members who reviewed the papers and all of the participants at the conference.

This book spans the distance between algebraic descriptions of geometric objects and the rendering of digital geometric shapes based on algebraic models. These contrasting points of view inspire a thorough analysis of the key challenges and how they are met. The articles focus on important classes of problems: implicitization, classification, and intersection. Combining illustrative graphics, computations and review articles this book helps the reader gain a firm practical grasp of these subjects.

Advanced Geometric Modelling for Engineering Applications by Frank-Lothar Krause,Helmut Jansen Pdf

Future generations of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) systems are expected to offer powerful support for the functional, geometrical and technological description of products. New intelligent system architectures covering feature modelling, knowledge processing and simulation techniques, as well as comprehensive information access capabilities will open novel possibilities for product modelling. The result will be a real opportunity for direct cooperation between human creativity/discernment and information processing systems, working together to draft and analyze technical products. In this book, leading researchers and system developers present, discuss and summarize research and development of new theories, as well as advanced applications of geometric modelling.

Geometric Modeling and Algebraic Geometry by Bert Jüttler,Ragni Piene Pdf

Geometric Modeling and Algebraic Geometry, though closely related, are traditionally represented by two almost disjoint scientific communities. Both fields deal with objects defined by algebraic equations, but the objects are studied in different ways. In 12 chapters written by leading experts, this book presents recent results which rely on the interaction of both fields. Some of these results have been obtained from a major European project in geometric modeling.

Geometric Modeling and Reasoning of Human-Centered Freeform Products by Charlie C. L. Wang Pdf

The recent trend in user-customized product design requires the shape of products to be automatically adjusted according to the human body’s shape, so that people will feel more comfortable when wearing these products. Geometric approaches can be used to design the freeform shape of products worn by people, which can greatly improve the efficiency of design processes in various industries involving customized products (e.g., garment design, toy design, jewel design, shoe design, and design of medical devices, etc.). These products are usually composed of very complex geometric shapes (represented by free-form surfaces), and are not driven by a parameter table but a digital human model with free-form shapes or part of human bodies (e.g., wrist, foot, and head models). Geometric Modeling and Reasoning of Human-Centered Freeform Products introduces the algorithms of human body reconstruction, freeform product modeling, constraining and reconstructing freeform products, and shape optimization for improving the manufacturability of freeform products. Based on these techniques, the design automation problem for human-centered freeform products can be fundamentally solved. Researchers and developers working on problems of automatic designing individually customized products can use this book as a reference, and it can also be used in courses in computer-aided product design at the graduate level.
