Organometallic Chemistry of the Transition Elements by Florian P. Pruchnik Pdf

Organometallic chemistry belongs to the most rapidly developing area of chemistry today. This is due to the fact that research dealing with the structure of compounds and chemical bonding has been greatly intensified in recent years. Additionally, organometallic compounds have been widely utilized in catalysis, organic synthesis, electronics, etc. This book is based on my lectures concerning basic organometallic chemistry for fourth and fifth year chemistry students and on my lectures concerning advanced organometallic chemistry and homogeneous catalysis for Ph.D. graduate students. Many recent developments in the area of organometallic chemistry as weIl as homogeneous catalysis are presented. Essential research results dealing with a given class of organometallic compounds are discussed briefly. Results of physicochemical research methods of various organometallic compounds as weIl as their synthesis, properties, structures, reactivities, and applications are discussed more thoroughly. The selection of tabulated data is arbitrary because, often, it has been impossible to avoid omissions. Nevertheless, these data can be very helpful in understanding properties of organometaIlic compounds and their reactivities. All physical data are given in SI units; the interatomic distances are given in pm units in figures and tables. I am indebted to Professor S. A. Duraj for translating and editing this book. His remarks, discussions, and suggestions are greatly appreciated. I also express gratitude to Virginia E. Duraj for editing and proofreading.

Inorganic Chemistry of the Transition Elements by B F G Johnson Pdf

Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.

Compounds of the Transition Elements Involving Metal-Metal Bonds by D. L. Kepert,K. Vrieze Pdf

Compounds of the Transition Elements Involving Metal-Metal Bonds focuses on compounds of the transition elements involving metal-metal bonds. Emphasis is on metal-metal bonds in coordination compounds and organometallic complexes, halides, and oxides. Factors that influence the formation, stability, and properties of such compounds, as well as their application in various fields of chemistry and physics, are discussed. This book is divided into four sections and begins with a classification of metal-metal bonds and some of the physical and chemical methods used to study them, including X-ray crystallography, magnetic susceptibility and electron spin resonance, nuclear spin resonance, Mössbauer measurements, infrared and Raman spectroscopy, visible and ultraviolet spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, electrical conductivity, electrochemistry, and chemical reactivity. Factors influencing the strength of metal-metal bonds in metals and compounds are also examined. The remaining sections deal with metal-metal bonds in coordination compounds and organometallic complexes, halides, and oxides. This monograph will be a useful resource for inorganic chemists.

Inorganic Chemistry by William W. Porterfield Pdf

This is one of the few books available that uses unifying theoretical concepts to present inorganic chemistry at the advanced undergraduate and graduate levels--most texts are organized around the periodic table, while this one is structured after bonding models, structure types, and reaction patterns. But the real strength of Porterfield's Second Edition is its clear presentation of ample background description, especially in recent areas of development such as cluster molecules, industrial catalysis, and bio-inorganic chemistry. This information will enable students to understand most current journals, empowering them to stay abreast of the latest advances in the field. Specific improvements of the Second Edition include new chapters on materials-science applications and bioinorganic chemistry, an extended discussion of transition-metal applications (including cuprate superconductors), and extended Tanabe-Sugano diagrams. Extended treatment of inorganic materials science--ceramics, refractories, magnetic materials, superconductors--in the context of solid-state chemistry Extended coverage of biological systems and their chemical and physiological consequences--02 metabolism, N2 fixation, muscle action, iron storage, cisplatin and nucleic acid structural probes, and photosynthesis Unusual structures and species--silatranes, metallacarboranes, alkalides and electrides, vapor-deposition species, proton and hybrid sponges, massive transition-metal clusters, and agostic ligands Thorough examination of industrial processes using organometallic catalysts and their mechanisms Entropy-driven reactions Complete discussion of inorganic photochemistry
