Laser Systems Engineering by Keith J. Kasunic Pdf

While almost all of the books that have the word "laser" in their title focus on the development of the lasers themselves, Laser Systems Engineering emphasizes the design and engineering of optical systems that incorporate these unique sources of light. Taking the perspective of the laser systems engineer, this book reviews the concepts and components required for the development of laser-based systems for manufacturing, biomedical applications, laser radar, sensors, metrology, laser-based displays, directed energy, etc. Emphasizing practical design problems and the first-order equations and commercial off-the-shelf components used to solve them, this book is for engineers, scientists, and managers who want to quickly master the principles of laser system development.

Advances in High-Power Fiber and Diode Laser Engineering by Ivan Divliansky Pdf

Advances in High-Power Fiber and Diode Laser Engineering provides an overview of recent research trends in fiber and diode lasers and laser systems engineering. In recent years, many new fiber designs and fiber laser system strategies have emerged, targeting the mitigation of different problems which occur when standard optical fibers are used for making high-power lasers. Simultaneously, a lot of attention has been put to increasing the brightness and the output power of laser diodes. Both of these major laser development directions continue to advance at a rapid pace with the sole purpose of achieving higher power while having excellent beam quality. The book begins by introducing the principles of diode lasers and methods for improving their brightness. Later chapters cover quantum cascade lasers, diode pumped high power lasers, high average power LMA fiber amplifiers, high-power fiber lasers, beam combinable kilowatt all-fiber amplifiers, and applications of 2 μm thulium fiber lasers and high-power GHz linewidth diode lasers. Written by a team of authors with experience in academia and industrial research and development, and brought together by an expert editor, this book will be of use to anyone interested in laser systems development at the laboratory or commercial scale.

Lasers and Optical Engineering by Pankaj K. Das Pdf

A textbook on lasers and optical engineering should include all aspects of lasers and optics; however, this is a large undertaking. The objective of this book is to give an introduction to the subject on a level such that under graduate students (mostly juniors/seniors), from disciplines like electrical engineering, physics, and optical engineering, can use the book. To achieve this goal, a lot of basic background material, central to the subject, has been covered in optics and laser physics. Students with an elementary knowledge of freshman physics and with no formal courses in electromagnetic theory should be able to follow the book, although for some sections, knowledge of electromagnetic theory, the Fourier transform, and linear systems would be highly beneficial. There are excellent books on optics, laser physics, and optical engineering. Actually, most of my knowledge was acquired through these. However, when I started teaching an undergraduate course in 1974, under the same heading as the title of this book, I had to use four books to cover the material I thought an electrical engineer needed for his introduction to the world of lasers and optical engineering. In my sabbatical year, 1980-1981, I started writing class notes for my students, so that they could get through the course by possibly buying only one book. Eventually, these notes grew with the help of my undergraduate and graduate students, and the final result is this book.

Solid-State Laser Engineering by Walter Koechner Pdf

Written from an industrial perspective, Solid-State Laser Engineering discusses in detail the characteristics, design, construction, and performance of solid-state lasers. Emphasis is placed on engineering and practical considerations; phenomenological aspects using models are preferred to abstract mathematical derivations. Since its first edition almost 30 years ago this book has become the standard in the field of solid-state lasers for scientists, engineers and graduate students. This new edition has been extensively revised and updated to account for recent developments in the areas of diode-laser pumping, laser materials and nonlinear crystals. Completely new sections have been added dealing with frequency control, the theory of mode-locking, femto second lasers, high efficiency harmonic generation, passive and acousto-optic Q-switching, semiconductor saturable absorber mirrors (SESAM) and peridically poled nonlinear crystals.

High Power Lasers - Science and Engineering by R. Kossowsky,Miroslav Jelinek,Robert F. Walter Pdf

In the thirty years since the invention of the CO2 gas laser, the major design issue has shifted from how to obtain the desired power level to how to achieve reliable operation. At the same time, the opening of many laser development facilities in the Former Soviet Union has allowed their achievements and design approaches to be understood and appreciated for the first time. Further, the industrial laser user community has identified a number of emerging applications at higher power levels (15-20 kW) than are attainable by most commercial devices. In High Power Lasers - Science and Engineering, the designers, developers and users of high-power gas laser systems discuss design approaches, methods of enhancing performance, new applications, and user requirements.

Advance Elements of Laser Circuits and Systems by Ofer Aluf Pdf

This book on Advance Elements of Laser circuits and systems Nonlinearity applications in engineering addresses two separate engineering and scientific areas, and presents advanced analysis methods for Laser circuits and systems that cover a broad range of engineering and scientific applications. The book analyzed Laser circuits and systems as linear and nonlinear dynamical systems and there limit cycles, bifurcation, and limit cycle stability by using nonlinear dynamic theory. Further, it discussed a broad range of bifurcations related to Laser systems and circuits, starting from laser system differential equations and their bifurcations, delay differential equations (DDEs) are a function of time delays, delay dependent parameters, followed by phase plane analysis, limit cycles and their bifurcations, chaos, iterated maps, period doubling. It combines graphical information with analytical analysis to effectively study the local stability of Laser systems models involving delay dependent parameters. Specifically, the stability of a given steady state is determined by the graphs of some functions of which can be expressed explicitly. The Laser circuits and systems are Laser diode circuits, MRI system Laser diode circuitry, Electron-photon exchanges into VCSEL, Ti: Sapphire laser systems, Ion channel and long-wavelength lasers, Solid state lasers, Solid state laser controlled by semiconductor devices, microchip solid-state laser, Q-switched diode-pumped solid-state laser, Nd:YAG, Mid-Infrared and Q-switched microchip lasers, Gas laser systems, copper vapor laser (CVL) circuitry, Dual-wavelength laser systems, Dual-wavelength operation of a Ti:sapphire laser, Diode-pumped Q-switched Nd:YVO4 yellow laser, Asymmetric dual quantum well lasers, Tm3+-doped silica fibre lasers, Terahertz dual-wavelength quantum cascade laser. The Book address also the additional areas, Laser X guiding system, Plasma diagnostics, Laser Beam shaping, Jitter and crosstalk, Plasma mirror systems, and High power Laser/Target diagnostic system optical elements. The book is unique in its emphasis on practical and innovative engineering and scientific applications. All conceptual Laser circuits are innovative and can be broadly implemented in many engineering applications. The dynamics of Laser circuits and systems provides several ways to use them in a variety of applications covering wide areas. This book is aimed at electrical and electronics engineers, students and researchers in physics as well. It is also aimed for research institutes in lasers and plasma physics and gives good comprehensive in laser and plasma systems. In each chapter, the concept is developed from basic assumptions up to the final engineering and scientific outcomes. The scientific background is explained at basic and advance levels and closely integrated with mathematical theory. Many examples are presented in this book and it is also ideal for intermediate level courses at graduate level studies. It is also ideal for engineer who has not had formal instruction in nonlinear dynamics, but who now desires to fill the gap between innovative Laser circuits/systems and advance mathematical analysis methods
